Lucy’s POV
I sit down at the table with Mina in her apartment. Mina appears nervous on what I am going to tell her however she has no need to be nervous. I place my right hand on top of hers as her heart beat is racing a little bit.
“Mina, you have no need to be nervous because after 15 days, the restraining order to Michael has been approved and he will be served today. I will be going in person to make sure he gets it.” I tell her with a smile on my face.
Mina lets out the biggest exhale with some tears in her eyes. I remain lightly smiling to her as her heart beat goes down to a calm beating. I am glad to help her because I know all too well how it feels to be tormented, abused like Mina has been.
“It is alright, Mina. No need for tears. You have shed enough tears for that blood bag. And this is just the beginning. This restraining order will be on his public record as well. So if he tries anything else after being served, it will get even worse for him. So for now, enjoy your day.”
“Lucy, I do not know what to say or how I can thank you for what you have done.” Mina sobs in joy to me.
“I am up for a girls lunch, have a few drinks and gossip about everything.” I tell her with some joy.
“That actually sounds really good. I cannot remember the last time I went out to have some girl time.” Mina tells me while wiping some tears off her face.
“Then it is a date. You have my number. Call me whenever you are available.” I stand up from the table then we hug for a moment. Afterwards, I walk over to the apartment door.
“Of course, Lucy. I know I have said it enough times to you and Vlad but thank you so much.” Mina opens the door for me.
“We will talk soon and have some fun. Now go enjoy yourself.” I tell her.
Mina waves bye to me as I walk down the hallway. She closes the door with a happy beating of her heart. I smile my way down to the entrance of the apartment building. I cannot help in feeling really good in helping her against that prick, Michael. I have seen and heard a number of blood bag assholes but Michael takes the top of the blood bags that I have seen in the 21st century.
I begin to make my way over to meet with the officers to serve the restraining order to Michael. The first place we are going to is his apartment then to his work office. He is bound to be at home or at work today since I put a private investigator on him a week and a half ago. His schedule remains the same to the public and private eye.
The only thing creepy about him is the amount of pictures of Mina in his apartment, phone and office. He managed to keep everything clean but it was not enough for the judge I had to approve the restraining order. I do know that I am going to have some fun watching him getting served his order.
I get to the front of the apartment building to see two officers arriving at the front of the building. The second their eyes rest on me, it is almost like they are studying my whole body. I let them take half a minute they need to look at me.
I am wearing a vintage style outfit. My Acevog peplum blazer burgundy jacket is of 1940’s and actually is from 1940’s; one of my favorite decades. Then a gray v-neck blouse and very nice combination of burgundy and gray printed pencil skirt. I am wearing a pointy toe gray cross strap stiletto. The finishing touch is my leather trapeze luxury handbag.
My jewelry is nothing but a simple stud diamond earrings and necklace since the outfit says enough on its own. But my ring is the one piece of jewelry that is worth more than anything I own is on my left middle finger ring. It is a vintage burgundy glitter gem. The ring itself measures 40x30 mm. it creates a fantastic effect. It almost looks like the night sky with red stars. This ring has been with me since before I was a vampire.
Once the thirty seconds of looking for them is over, I snap my fingers before their eyes to get their full attention. “Perhaps you would like to paint a picture of me or should we go to do the business we are here for?”
“The business we are here for…” One says to acknowledge he is actually listening.
“Good.” I walk up the steps and inside to the front desk of the apartment lounge. He lives in a fancy place but it is nothing more than a mask for the public eye. I walk up to the receptionist telling them, “Hello, we are here to see Michael Ozturk. Here for business.”
“Of course however you just missed him. He left just a few minutes ago.” She tells me.
“Thank you very much. You have a good day.” I tell her before walking away.
We step out of the apartment building. I told them to hang on a second that I need to make a call. I get my phone out and turn my back to them as I call Michael’s phone. However I know that he will not pick up. I use these few seconds to listen to the people through the apartments. My senses go right to his apartment. It is empty, nothing of him in the building. The phone call goes right to voicemail after a few rings.
“No answer. Time for his work office.”
The officers and I head over to his work; it is the only place he could be now. I see that his lawyer office is Full service. They provide legal services throughout the city. Their practice areas include matters of law in corporate, commercial, financial and tax, real estate, intellectual property, employment, contracts, criminal defense and litigation. This firm is fairly good from what I hear however Michael works with Criminal Defense clients which have possibly helped him to remain untouched in all he has done to Mina. He knows the system and how to avoid it wherever he can until now.
We walk to the elevator that leads to the fourth floor which is solely for Criminal Defense lawyers such as Michael. I see several lawyers at their desks talking on the phone. I hear several phone calls about opposing counsel or extensions unapproved or approved. I walk past the front desk. The man at the desk tells me that I cannot enter without an appointment.
I lightly growl to myself in frustration because I know this office is sexist in seeing nothing but men working at this firm. There is no woman, not one. I am probably the only woman in this building as of right now.
“I am here to see Michael Ozturk. No appointment but we are here on business.”
“What kind of business?” The man does not even bother to look me in the eye but eyeing my chest.
I extend my hand back. The officer places the papers in my hand. I take out the order and shove it against the glass wall over the front desk for this asshole to see it clear as day with his four eyed self. The receptionist sees it and finally notices the officers behind me. The receptionist clears his throat after seeing what the order is exactly.
“I am sorry but he is not here right now.”
“I find that hard to believe. Either way, he is here. And if he is available or not, he is being served right now. Where is he?”
The receptionist does not even acknowledge that I am standing in front of him by not answering me. I bite down on the bottom of my lip hard in feeling my anger boil like hot water. I do not even bother with this blood bag and walk onto the floor. The receptionist yells at me to leave but I block out his stupid voice.
I keep on walking, using my senses to track Michael. I manage to pick up his stench following it. It leads to his personal office away from the main floor of the other lawyers. I see his name on the door. I immediately enter into his office as the door bangs against the wall but he is nowhere in sight. It looks like he has not even been in this morning.
I am about to leave but I freeze when I see the photos of Mina and him in a photo together. I pick up the frame in disgust that he even has the audacity to do this is sick. I drop the frame and it lands on his desk. I take a few moments to listen for him throughout the entire building. The amount of hearts beating, voices flood my senses and yet he is nowhere within a mile of here.
I ball my hand into a fist that he is not here at all. The four eyed bastard was not lying about him not being here. I storm out of his office, slamming the door behind me. The officers approach me but they know right away that he is not here. I go back to four eyed bastard at the front desk trying to contain my anger right now.
“Where is he?”
“May I suggest that you actually listen when I say that he is not here?” He tells me with a snarky attitude.
“How about I suggest that I drive my foot into this thing called your ass if you do not tell me where he is?” I tell him with a smile on my face.
The man does not say anything in response to but I can sense his fear building up toward me. I lean a little closer to him that if the glass wall over the desk was not here between us, we would be face to face. But he still does not say where he is to me.
“I’ll give you a chance to tell me where he is or else I will slam you so hard that right side of your jaw will be broken when I do so.”
His fear continues to build up however I can sense that he is not going to tell me before he opens his mouth again. “I am sorry but I am not allowed to say where he is unless he is a danger to himself or others, so if you convince me for those purposes only then will I tell you.”
I instantly reach my right hand under the open part of the lower glass of the desk, grabbing him by the collar of his suit, slamming the right side of his face against the glass. The part of the glass is shattered some in where I slammed his face. He screams when the right side of his jaw broke as I said I would do if he didn’t tell me. He continues to scream in the pain in the right side of his jaw being broken due to the amount of vampire strength I did to do so.
“How’s this? Convinced?” I say to him in a sweet charming voice in the joy of hearing the pain he is in right now.
He screams in agony, “Convinced!”
“Lovely. Now tell me, where is he?” I say calmly with a strong grip on his collar.
The officers try to get me off of him but the two men are not match for my strength. Several people are in shock of what is happening right now but I do not care. I need to know where Michael is so he can be served the order. And if he is not at his place or at work, there is only one place he can be at right now but I need to know for sure.
“He called out and said he was going to see her, his fiancé!”
“She is no longer his fiancée the moment he started beating her!” I yell.
I let him go and start running for the elevator. I do not even wait for the officers as they call out my name when the elevator doors closes. I take my phone out and call Mina but she is not answering. I begin to actually panic in the fact that she is not answering. I send her several text messages for her to call me as soon as she can and leave her work place now.
She is still not answering that I call Vlad. His phone is ringing as I am walking out of the firm building. I go into an alley where hardly anyone could see me when Vlad answers the phone. “Get to Mina now, Vlad!”
“What’s going on?” He says in terror.
“It is Michael! Go now!” I shout in fear.
Vlad does not wait when he hangs up the phone. I instantly use my senses to make sure I am not being watched or heard. The second I know I am good to go, I transform into a swarm of bats, taking to flight above the buildings and head to Mina.
Mina’s POV
I finish tasting some of the food that is to be chosen to be printed in the food column. I write down all of my thoughts on the food that would be good for thanksgiving since that will be in a few days. I look forward to my mother coming over for Thanksgiving. I told Vlad about it and he wants to host the dinner for us.
I told him that he did not have to plus I am not sure if I want my mother to meet him so soon since we have been seeing each other however we are not labeled yet as in a relationship. But Vlad is all for meeting her. I just hope that she likes him and does not try to bring up Michael during the dinner. That is the last thing I want since there is a restraining order on him now.
He is the last thing that I want to be thinking about since he will be long gone in the past. I am feeling so good in what Lucy told me this morning. I get the feeling it is just the start of something new in my life. I feel almost like I am in a warm, loving glow especially with all that Vlad did for me even though I keep on wanting to repay him.
I remember what he said about even a good person needs a hand. I smile at the thought of Vlad when I walk back over to my desk. I freeze when I see a huge vase filled with a dozen glorious red roses. I immediately look around wondering who put this here. There is not even a card with the flowers. I am not sure that these are from Vlad since any flower he has given me; he knows that my favorite is blush pink roses from the flower stand.
Suddenly a cold chill spreads over my body almost like spiders are crawling all over me. I have only ever got that feeling from one person in my entire life and he is here now. I immediately turn around to see Michael before me smiling his sinister smile. I gasp in terror that he is here when he is not allowed to be.
I try to leave my desk and as I move away from him, the vase of red roses knocks off my desk, shattering onto the floor. Now the roses are over a good part of the desk floor. Michael looks down in disappointment in what I did. The look on his face said it all. If we were not in public, he would have punched me so hard but he cannot do that knowing what would happen if he did.
“You were always so clumsy, Mina.” He says in a cold voice to me while walking toward me.
“Michael, you are not allowed to be near me now. Get out.” I say to him.
“I can come see my fiancé when I have some free time. How come I am not allowed to be near you? We are to be married after all. We need to plan our wedding.” He says with the same smile on his face.
“You know why. There is a restraining order.”
“A restraining order? I do not think so since I have not been served at all today. So I can see you anytime I want.” Michael says.
“Why are you doing this? I broke off the engagement months ago.”
“Because I love you, Mina.” He tells him in his sweet tone but in truth, his sweet tone voice actually physical makes me hurt.
“No, Michael! We broke up months ago. You called, texted me all the time and sent me presents and I put up with it all and not taking any of them in the hopes that you learned that we are no longer together or engaged. After what you did in the bathroom at the Halloween party is too much especially with you showing up like you are now.” I tell him in all honest truth.
I cannot take it anymore; I literally cannot take him being in my life in any sort of way. If the restraining order is not going to stop him, I will have no choice but to leave. I do not know where I would go however I would rather flee to America with the higher chance that he can never find me again.
“You just don’t understand, Mina. I think we need to start again.” He says.
“No more tries or chances! We broke up! I do not want to be with you, Michael! You are an abusive, gas lighting man that I hope every woman will see when they meet you and flee before you hurt another like you did to me! Get out of my life! I don’t want to see you ever again!” I shout to him.
I begin to feel like I cannot breathe after shouting at him these words; words I never thought I would say to him when I first told him that I loved him. My face becomes soaking wet from tears streaming down my face. I sob a few times while he remains calm hearing my words.
“How can you say that?” He says in sadness.
I can actually see that he is starting to hurt by my words but I need to be blunt so he can go away and hopefully leave for good. I exhale when some of my coworkers are noticing what is going on. My coworker, Emily comes over to me.
“Do I need to call the cops, Mina?” Emily asked me.
“No, do not call the cops.” Michael speaks in anger to Emily.
“Michael, I am sorry but it did not work out for us. If you love me then you will go and never come back. So leave now.” I beg to him.
“No, Mina. You and I will be together sooner or later. I love you.” Michael comes over, wrapping his arms around me.
“Get off of me!” I try to get out of his grip but he does not let me go. He tries to kiss me but I put my hand over his mouth. Then I slap him across the face. Michael stops in what I just did to him. I back away from him.
“I will never be yours! I left you, Michael! You are a bastard, bully and a coward! I don’t love you! I could never love you again!” I cry out everything I have in me.
“Stop saying that! Shut up!!!” He screams right as I saw his fist coming at me but it felt like it was in slow motion. I felt like I couldn’t move. The pain of his fist hitting on my left side of my face that I fall to the floor, I am on my backside when I barely see Michael standing over me about to do worse to me. I start crying in the horror of what he is going to do next.
But the horror is stopped when my coworker, Emily pushes Michael away from me before he could do anything further. Everything around me is distorted but I see enough that Michael appears to be in shock that Emily pushed him. She stands between me and Michael. Michael chuckles in what she is trying to do. I know that he set is monstrous glare onto Emily.
“Mina, nothing will keep me away from you. I love you and we will be married one way or another. We will be together forever, which is my promise to you. I will see you soon, Mina.”
“No, you will not. Leave now.” A growling voice came from behind Michael.
Michael turns around to see who it is that spoke to him. I sob out a sigh of relief that it is Lucy and Vlad behind him. Vlad immediately grabs Michael by his arm, forcing him to walk away. Michael tries to get Vlad away from him but it was not working.
“Get off of me.” Michael says in anger to Vlad but Vlad does not listen.
“Did you do the same when Mina said those exact words to you a few moments ago? No. So I am going to treat you like the shell of a man that you are.” Vlad says right as he walks him toward the elevators.
“Lucy, call the cops. Take all the photos you need to help when they arrive. I will keep Michael outside and wait for them to arrive.”
“There are two cops that were with me to serve the order. They should arrive any minute now.” Lucy tells Vlad. She takes out her phone and starts taking photos of the office area and my face.
Vlad shoves Michael into an open elevator and goes into the elevator with him to make sure that he leaves. Emily and Lucy ask me if I am alright but I am not alright. I already feel my face swelling up from his fist hitting me. It will soon start to show bruising colors. I struggle to inhale for a moment then start crying. I feel as if my chest has shattered in just the touch of him again that my mind floods back to him nearly forcing himself on me that night of the Halloween party.
I cannot be in this room right now. I cry out in rushing away and go into the spare office room that is currently empty. I go over to the windows of the room to see the view of the city. My eyes go down to the entrance of the building where Vlad shoves Michael to the ground. I gasp in seeing Vlad takes him by the collar of his shirt then punch him several times.
I know Vlad says something to him. Whatever it is, Michael will hate him forever more. Vlad then punches him one more time that is knocks Michael out cold. Michael is unconscious on the ground. I exhale in some relief that Lucy and Vlad got here in time because I do not know what he was going to do to Emily for pushing him off of me.
But now I know that Michael will never stop, not even a restraining order; nothing will stop him. I have to leave and go somewhere so he can never find me again. The last thing I want to do is leave Vlad because of how I already feel for him and all that he has done for me. I have no other choice but to leave for good. I want to stay for Vlad and get my life back but I have to leave.
I hear someone enter the room. My eyes turn to see that it is Emily and Lucy closing the door behind them. I try to fight back the tears however I sink to the floor. Emily runs over and kneels, wrapping her arms around me. Lucy is standing next to us with sadness in her eyes as well. There are no words spoken as I cry out embracing Emily.
Vlad’s POV
Michael immediately tries to run out of the elevator when the doors open but instead I use some of my vampire strength, knocking him to the ground. His body makes thudding noises when he falls. I drag him up to his feet. Michael hits me on the arm, doing whatever he can to get me off of him. I chuckle a little knowing nothing will work except silver to get me off of him.
The moment we were out of the building, I throw him to the ground again. Michael cries out in pain, lying on his back side. I watch him moan and groan like a little boy that is not getting what he wants. I snarl in disgust with him and I have to fight every single urge not to drain him dry due to being out in public in front of several hundreds of people watching. Since I cannot drain him with so many watching, I can only do what I am about to do now.
“Get up, bastard.” I command to him.
Michael places his left arm around his stomach in pain. He does not get up so my hands get a good grip on collar of his shirt, forcing him to get up. As soon as he is up on his feet, I ball up my right hand into a fist, reach my arm way back then assert my fist to his face just like I heard he did to Mina. I begin to hit him more.
“Nothing will keep me away from beating you as long as you keep your attention on Mina. I will keep beating you until you are out of Mina’s life. Stay away from her! Touch, threaten or think about Mina again, you will get what you deserve.” I continue striking him in the face until I see his face covered in blood now.
I hesitate at the smell and sight of his blood wet on my right hand from hitting him so hard. Michael stares at me with hatred with my left hand still keeping a grip on his suit collar. Michael manages through the pain right now enough to speak to me.
“I will never…”
“If you say that you will never let her go, I will ensure that your public image, your name will be destroyed for good!” I shout directly into his face.
“Nothing will stop me. I will never let her go…” He says while quite an amount of blood stains his lip, chin and upper part of his chest.
“Then I will strike your name away before I end you...” I growl in his face then deliver a punch strong enough to knock him out cold.
His body goes limp while I still have a grip on his collar. I shake him for a moment knowing he is knocked out. I let go of my grip. His body slams to the ground. I stare at him, wanting to end him now but I know I cannot do so here especially with all of the people watching. The sirens of the cop car arrive and run out toward us.
I am about to walk away but stop when I hear a sound that breaks me to hear. My eyes go up to Mina’s work floor and she is crying so hard in her coworker’s arms. Lucy is standing by the window with a look of sadness on her face. Lucy and I stare at one another in sorrow as Mina is crying in what Michael has done.
The cops put Michael in hand cuffs then manage to get him into the back of their car. They ask for my statement and when I was done, they tell me that Michael will have no chance of making charges against me after what he has done. The cops make their way up so they can get more statements from the others in what happened. They leave an unconscious Michael in the back of their vehicle for now.
I make my way back to Mina’s work floor. I stop at the door of the room that Mina is in. Mina is being questioned now by the cops and her coworker, Emily. Some of the other workers are wondering if she is ok but Mina’s boss tells them to get back and prepare their statements for the police. Her boss comes over to me. I can sense her worry for Mina.
“Please tell Mina that she can go home. I will make sure that she gets paid during her time gone. She has more than enough vacation and sick days than any worker I have ever had here. I just hoped that with constantly changing her schedule would help for him not to find her here like he did.” She says to me.
“To be honest, nothing is going to stop him except if he is in jail for life or possibly dead.” I confess to her.
She exhales in feeling the same as I do about that. She walks away from me as Lucy comes out of the room. Lucy looks furious when she takes me over toward the men’s restroom and shoves me in. I know Lucy is about to rant and full on rage so I make sure that we are alone.
“I am about to get a craving knife and skin him like a grape! I will tear him apart limb from limb!” She shouts pacing back and forth.
“Lower your voice, there are cops a few rooms over. Lucy, we will but first we will strike him down, destroy his public name and image. Take everything away from him after what he has done.” He pull Lucy over to me so she can focus on what I am about to tell her.
“What do you suggest?”
“Actually, I was going to see what you had in mind. You have dealt with men like him in your cases. How would you go about it?”
“You do not want the details but I will say this, it will be like a volcano.” Lucy growls to me when her red vampire eyes begin to glow. She wants to drain him just as much as I do.
“Then make sure that when the volcano erupts, he will not be able to withstand its force.” I growl back to her with my vampire red eyes.
My mind floods with the thought of Lucy and me draining Michael dry together like we did centuries ago to some evil men and women. I can imagine his screams, begging for his pitiful life as our sharp teeth drive into him, drinking every last drop of his blood as our mouths are covered in his blood. Then we would take his bloodless corpse for the wolves to have, no trace of him would be left to find. No one would actually care that he is gone.
Those tempting voices taunting me to feed fill my every thought, every muscle in my body. I feel the tips of my vampire teeth barely touching my bottom lip the more I consider going for Michael now. But no matter how much the taunting voices tried, now is not the time to feed on him. If we feed on him, killing him, there will be a huge chance I will be in handcuffs. I know I can get out of them easily however I do not want to spend any more time on the run like I once did.
So killing Michael is not an option right now. It needs to happen at the right opportunity when Lucy and I can take him after his name is publicly destroyed. Our vampire red eyes lock together with thirsty smiles on our faces. Lucy sighs in pleasure knowing that we are thinking the exact same thing.
“We will take him apart then drain him.” She playfully snarls to me.
I brush my fingers under her chin, admiring how we still always think the same thing. As it is said, ‘Great minds think alike.’ I gently lift up her chin so we are face to face. If we move any closer, our lips would come together but I will not do that since I am with Mina.
“Go and erupt, my red stars.” I softly tell her pet name I called her before she ever became a vampire.
“There he is… My Dracula. It will be done.” She growls in pleasure.
I lift up her left hand to see her wearing her family heirloom ring. I bring her hand to my lips and kiss the top of her of her glitter gem. Lucy slowly walks away about to leave bathroom but I stop her. She glares at me wondering what I am about to say and a part of me knows that I may regret what I am about to tell her. However I want to use this to my advantage while I can.
“Get a hold of Draven. Tell him that I will allow him some fun and in return, I will need a favor of him.”
“Draven? Are you sure?”
“No and yes but please get a hold of him.” I say to her in honesty.
Lucy bows her head to me then leaves the bathroom. I stay in the bathroom for a moment knowing that I cannot sink back into my old ways however I will for a brief moment to take Michael after all he has done to Mina. He crossed the line twice and I will ensure that he does not cross the line again. He will pay dearly for it.
I stare down at my fists to see his blood has stained my right hand. I have half a mind to ink it off. Instead I go over to the sink, washing my hands off of the stained blood. I wash them to the point all of the blood is down the drain. I dry off my hands, completely clean.
I walk out of the bathroom to the room that Mina is in. I see the officers are done with her statement. I go over and kneel down in front of her. Mina is still crying a little but not as hard as she was earlier. I take her in my arms. Mina rests her head into my chest while my head is gentle on top of her head. I do not say anything to Mina right now. I just hold her, wanting to make her fear fade away so she can feel safe again. I gently rock her back and forth to try to help settle her crying.
My eyes go down to outside entrance of the building where I see Lucy making her way outside. I see that she is speaking to some of the officers before they get into their vehicle. They drive off with Michael still unconscious in the back. Lucy goes back over to the spot where I hit Michael. There are still small bits of his blood. Lucy glares back up to me, ready to give him a taste of his own abuse. I do wish I could be there to watch however Mina needs me more.
Mina embraces her arms more around me while I kiss her on top of her blonde sunlight hair then whisper to her several times, “I’m here, Mina. Everything is going to be alright.”
Lucy’s POV
I spin around in the chair as I see the sun has been taken over by the dark purple night sky. I got word that somehow Michael got out on bail. He called in a favor in order to get out. But that will not save him for what is about to happen. I stop spinning the chair when I hear him coming toward his office. I place my feet on top of his desk, leaning back in his chair. He walks right into his office and freezes at the site of me. I wink at him in the irony that I have been waiting for him to show up.
I see that he is coming back from the hospital by some of the bandages on his face from with the injuries Vlad rightfully delivered to him. Michael looks furious that I am sitting in his chair. He looks around to see that no one else is on this floor. It is just us. He still closes the door behind him then glares at me like he wants to beat me down with his own fists.
“Out of my chair!” He shouts in anger.
I stare at him like he is a child and say back to him like I was a five year old, “Make me.”
He comes right over raising his arm up; about to hit me until his arm is grabbed then twisted behind his back. Michael cries out in his arm being twisted behind his back. I grin when he sees I am not alone in here. Draven is with me. He slams Michael against the wall that his face gets hurt further. Michael screams when I hear his nose officially break in the impact to the wall.
“I know to never come alone for things such as this. Draven meet Michael.” I tell Draven.
“He looks a lot like Mehmed.” He growls referring to Sultan Mehmed.
“He most certainly does however not the same man despite the look alike appearance. This man is the same level of worse though.” I stand up from the chair while watching Draven bring pain onto this blood bag.
“Michael, I am here to give you a warning threat if you come to have a thought about Mina or an inch to even want to see her, I will do far worse than what I am about to do. So let’s begin.” I tell him in joy.
He is groaning in the terrible pain he is in while I begin to walk around his office. I see his lawyer school degrees in his glass case shelf along with several pictures of him with friends, family and many photos of Mina. I see that he was into sports in his younger years by the look of some football statues. I take one of the statues to admire it for a moment.
“This is very nice. You appear to have quite the life style, Michael. I would have to guess that you are from some old money, great at sports but you must have gotten injured yourself that you could no longer play football. So you go to a lawyer school instead; top of your class when graduated. You get into this law firm. Then a few years, you and Mina hit things off to the point you are even engaged. Although somewhere along the way you became abusive, gas lighting shell of a man that you are to beat Mina with your own fists. I am now going to what a man like you deserves.”
I take the statue to his glass case shelf, breaking the glass to pieces. I go around his entire room breaking all of the frames on the walls, and desk. The glass pieces are all over the room. I keep on going around his office smashing anything that has value to him. Then I throw the statue right at his computer. The statue slams right into the screen, destroying it.
“Stop! I get your point, bitch!” Michael screams.
“No, you don’t. You do not get my point. Those are just words coming out of your mouth. You’ll say anything to get me stop but you won’t stop. You never will stop especially when Mina begged you to stop hitting her or putting your hands on her. And now you are going to open up this window with your own hands.”
Draven brings him over to the window. Michael tries to get free but does no good when I pull out a gun then point it directly to his head. Michael tells me that he will do it. He moves slowly over to the window opening it himself. I go over to his office window, looking at the view.
“It is turning out to be a nice night.” I say in feeling not too cold out. It is the kind of night that a human would just need a light jacket or to have a bonfire with good friends.
My eyes go back to Michael to see the look on his face. His eyes begin to widen when he believes I am going to throw him out the window however I am not going to. I put my gun back into my purse and set it down in the desk chair.
I go over to his computer hard drive and his tablet. I toss both of them right out the window. Both of them land demolished, no chance of repair given the floor level we are on. I go back over to his desk to the draws. I open to find basic work related stuff so I rip the draws out of the desk. Everything in the draws falls all over the shattered glass covered floor.
Draven chuckles to Michael while he is watching me. Draven always liked how destructive I can be. I snap my fingers for Draven to bring Michael over to me. He does so. Michael and I are face to face. Michael is full of terror while I stare him down.
“I want a second chance with Mina. That is all.” Michael whimpers to me, trying to play the sad puppy looking for forgiveness. It is nothing more than an act.
“Mina has been there and done that; second chances in this century are not what they use to be where the two of us come from, Michael. So after we leave here, you are going to leave her alone for the rest of your days. If you don’t, the rest of your days will come sooner than you expected. And to make sure that you know I am a woman of my word, everyone will know who you really are.”
I reach into his suit pocket for his phone. I look into his entire phone contacts, creating a massive group text to all of them. I make sure that Mina is included into the text so she does not get suspected for what is about to happen to Michael before we leave. I begin to text what I need to text to the group chat.
When I am finished, I reread the long message to make sure that it sounds exactly like Michael’s words. I know I have it right down to things he would say from his own mouth in public to text. I chuckle in how well I did.
“Read it out loud. Let me hear it.” Draven says with a smile on his face.
“Be full honest with me about it, Draven. Here goes.” I begin to read out loud the text message.
‘Family, friends and all the rest, I would like to leave this world speaking the whole truth. I longed for the dream life I enjoyed and a loving woman I could spend the rest of my life with but my unsettling urges led me to all of the acts I have done to Miss Mina Barnes. I have kicked, slapped, punched and choked Mina with my own bare hands. I made sure that no one would believe the truth about me whenever it was brought to light. And now that the truth is out, I know that I can get ten years to life in jail however I am ending things in my own duration rather than lose all that I have. When my shocking acts fades away, know that I will never be sorry for all I have done. I’ll see you when I see you.’
“What do you think?” I say with a grin on my face.
Michael tries to call out for help in realizing that the message is straight up a suicide note. Draven covers his mouth, muffling his pitiful cries. Draven thinks for a moment about the message then tells me, “Straight forward and I know you must have done some digging into his life to get any of those words into the message that he has said before. I like it.”
“Fabulous. I am sending it now.” I tap on the phone, sending that message to every contact in the group chat.
Afterwards, I put the cell phone in Michael’s suit pocket like I know he does from the private investigating. Draven throws him against his desk. Michael cries out in the terrible pain he is but also the amount of anger toward the two of us.
“You will never get away with this! I am not going to kill myself and there are cameras everywhere in this building! They will see what you have done to me!” He shouts with a hint of red filling up the skin tone of his face as he takes a few steps over to be face to face with me.
“Of course you are not going to kill yourself. I am not going to make you do anything, Michael. If anything, remain where you are standing because you are right where you need to be. There is one thing I do need to ask of you.”
“What?!” He spats right in my face.
I lean a little closer to him and whisper in his ear, “Any last words?”
Before Michael could even say anything, I move out of the way as Draven comes forward to do one of the things he does best. Michael is trembling in fear of what is about to happen. And he should be afraid since many will believe he is a madman once he sees this.
Draven materializes his face into his vampire face. The white deathlike undertone of his facial bones and vampire teeth come forth as his pupils’ blood red, glowing eyes; his entire face like Death itself in front of this blood bag. Draven unleashes his monstrous roar directly in Michael’s face. Michael screams out, backing away as fast as he can. Michael goes right over the edge of the window.
He literally goes out of the window screaming. I listen to every second of him falling to the point he hits a few trees on his way down then slamming onto the sidewalk of the building with the sounds of some bones breaking in the process. Draven and I look outside to see how he looked. I see that his upper body is halfway out onto the street by the building. A few cars have passed by, not even realizing what has happened yet.
I use my heightened hearing in seeing if he is still alive. I don’t hear anything for maybe a minute until his heart is beating. It is a slow heart beat but he is still alive. My eyes go to Draven still showing his vampire face when he gives a groan of disappointment that he is not dead like he hoped he would be.
“From one vampire to another, if you are trying to kill someone, pick a higher floor. At this level height, the fall alone won’t kill him, Lucy.”
“I am counting on it, Draven.” I lean up against the edge of the window smiling. Draven realizes that this has been my plan all along. The plan was not to kill him. “I did exact what I promised to Vlad. I erupted like a volcano; Michael did not withstand the eruption.”
Draven and I are about to take off flying out of his office window until I see something among the paperwork on the floor. I notice a file with Mina’s name on it. I open the file in seeing what he has on her. He has quite a bit on her. He had her followed everywhere. He knew where she lived currently, her constant changing work schedule. I see a few photos of her. Some were random of her working or walking down the street. Then I came across a photo of Mina walking with Vlad in the park.
“He is a sneaky son of a bitch.” I call Michael in the fact that he had Mina followed when she meet and spent time with Vlad. I pick up the photo of the two of them.
Draven sees the photo as well. I begin to search through the rest of the photos to make sure none of this gets tied to Vlad at all. I use my speed to go through the rest of the file and I find a few more photos of them in the park. Draven helps to go through the rest of the files on the floor that look anything close to Vlad being involved.
We begin to hear sirens in the distance. I know that someone must have called the cops from the message sent to the group chat. Draven and I are done grabbing what we needed then spread all of the files across the entire office room and desk. We go to the window, transforming into a swarm of bats flying away from the building so there is no camera evidence that the two of us were never there at all.
We fly all the way to the park where streets are well lighten up so if anyone happens to spot us, they can confirm of our whereabouts. Draven and I knew before hand to text each other to meet up at the park before we went into Michael’s office. So if an eye witness or two is not enough to confirm where we were. Everything is in place now.
