Everybody slowly put down the log and then fell in the lineup with the others whom the trainer ordered to stretch their body , watered them down , and said they could take a five minute break
Tarn and his friends sat under the shade of the tree. Phaya ,w ho was sitting by his side , raised a question
"Are you worried about Chart?"243Please respect copyright.PENANAEYraOrY5Eo
"Mmm"
Even though he knew there might have been some predicament that occurred to Chart , too bad , he didn't know what it was. Otherwise , he might be able to save his friend. As Phaya saw his homie's round , black eyes waver , he reached out to squeeze Tarn's shoulder softly. What had happened to Chart must have wrung Tarn's heart , and so did Phaya but for Tarn , it might be worse , as he knew it , so he gave that warning sign to Chart...
"To fore see the other's catastrophe but couldn't do anything , you must have felt horrible."
Tarn turned around to look at Phaya in the eye. He had to tolerate this bitterness since his childhood. Anytime he let them know , everyone thought he was screwed up in the head or might have gone insane. However.. It didn't always end up in tragedy , such as in Phaya's case. He could save Phaya.
"Yes. It was , but i have done the best i could."
Phaya looked at Tarn with a hint of disbelief. Tarn held his stare to Phaya's eyes , then raised his eyebrow mischievously and pushed the other on the shoulder
"I'm fine really. Thanks for you concer anyway."
Phaya unfolded a smile and stretched out his arm to wrap around his friend's neck
"You're my friend. How could i not be concerned about you?"
Tarn sent a smile towards Phaya. The two exchanged their gaze , smiling with no other words given and it caused Yai , who was watching the two nearby , to curl his lips upward too. Khem , who was sitting with legs spread out , raised the question
"What you guys think how is Chart now?"243Please respect copyright.PENANAF129HiGcZt
"At the hospital." Thongthai responded in a detached tone243Please respect copyright.PENANAtFfrmGCT90
"I knew that. But i mean , hey... he was so close to crossing the finish line. And he..."
To be honest , Khem felt dismayed for Chart. He was a talented one. He shouldn't have faced havoc like this
"Sometimes , life is at the mercy of luck. If it's luck decree he couldn't win it , he couldn't"
Yai remained calm to his voice while thinking that Tarn's spidey sense was still dead accurate...
One hundred and twenty hours , five days and five nights , felt as if five years to them. The torment had now eaten the young troops up inside and out. They had been undergoing the training relentlessly , losing track of how many days or hours had already gone by. They just listened and follow the order strictly. Even though there were periodic breaks , that couldn't even be called a breaks. All now looked no different from zombies. However , their bodies seemed somewhat familiar with this kind of torture
Until they reached the last day of their training , they took a ride from the training base to the Wat Mai Yoo Sa ngat Temple. As soon as everyone arrived at the destination , they all hazily woke up. Tarn accidentally leaned on Phaya's shoulder while sleeping and was jolted awake by the nudge from Yai's hand. Tarn swept his gaze around in a daze and raised the hand to stroke his own face , then rose up to follow the others out of the car and fell in a lineup , waiting for the trainer's command
"Everybody , ground your weapons...."243Please respect copyright.PENANAtZT6voQI6n
"Hooyah!"
The young soldiers faced down to disarm themselves and place their weapons on the floor. The final phase of The Hell Week was the mental fortitude test!
Every trainee was tasked to bring their own code and place it in a coffin , read the attached message , memorize it , and rush out to tell it to their trainer. Those who couldn't deliver the message needed to do it all over again until they passed
"Tarn you jackass. You were raised in the temple , so what's your reason to fear for?"
Yai roasted his question as they all were a little bit at ease after hearing the squeal from those former friends who were having their test. Tarn lifted his hand to rub against his arms
"But i do. And because i was raised in a temple , i have more reasons to fear."
Since he didn't stride around at night outside the monk's cell. He had always hit the bed right away after the sun went down from the sky , so what makes a difference to be raised in the temple? He still couldn't manage to feel at ease. That's a ghost everyone!
"Never knew you're a temple boy." Khem interrupted
Now , the young troops , especially our trainer , sat in a circle and chatted. He even built up a more eerie atmosphere by telling us ghost stories. Tarn reversed to Khem
"I'm a temple boy. Do you have any problem with that , squinty?"243Please respect copyright.PENANAqNTuoQYZmE
"Nope."
Khem shrugged his shoulder mischievously. Tarn twisted his mouth as he didn't get along with the superstitious kind of thing. Luang Phor loved to tell him spooky stories that he often carried to his sleep not to mention his temple boys peer who had always frightened him as a ghost. One of the reasons behind his fear of ghost was to have an accurate extra sensory perception. He was scared... To see more than this... And his life would reach the point of no return...
"U-7."243Please respect copyright.PENANA7ZqZP3hAFJ
"Hooyah." Tarn stepped forward243Please respect copyright.PENANAuvgjKJmHPw
"Prepare for action!"
Luang Phor , say a little prayer for me...
"Get in."
Well , bring it on!
