Im so curious about it.
When I was lost in my thoughts, Cutler’s voice interrupted me.
”Helloooo? Rae?? We’re you even listening to me? It really hurts when I’m ignored!!” He said in a dramatic manner. While he posed, a knocking sound reached us.
”Oh!!! The food is finally here! I’m staaaarving!!”
Just when he was about to go get the door, Paul called him.
”...you’ll eat first?”
”...obviously” Cutler looked annoyed as he replied.
”...be careful”
“...Since when you were concerned?”
I didn’t understand the flow of the conversation so I ignored it. I was too hungry to think anyways, and I kept my eyes of the trolley Cutler brought into the room.
(Fooooooood) I felt like I was a zombie as the words echoed in my mind.
Cutler began eating first like he said. What’s up with these people?! They were so cruel! Eating in front of a hungry person without consideration to their pain!!
I glanced at Paul. He was looking Cutler while he was eating as if he was doing something dangerous. Why did he seem so tense? I didn’t know. Maybe he was hungry like me?
After eating a bit, Cutler looked at me, then grinned.
”It’s great! Here I’ll get you some!”
Cutler brought me a dish of scrambled eggs with cheese and tomatoes. It looked so delicious!! It had been so long since I had a decent breakfast.
I ate so quickly without caring about my image, and in few seconds, I cleaned my plate.
Cutler smiled “More?”
”Yes please!”
In total, I ate more than 10 dishes of food.
”That’s some amazing apatite you have there” Kyle exclaimed at me.
“Haha...well, I haven’t eaten anything since the afternoon”
”WOW, so you were starving since yesterday?” Cutler said as he was drinking his mocha.
”yesterday? No that’s-“
I suddenly realized something really important!!
“W-waaaait! Since when have I been sleeping?!” I asked as I trembled.
Kyle answered “since yesterday after sunset”
”Oh No! Oh No!” I started to panicked as I realized my ordeal.
HOW COULD I FORGET ABOUT MY FINAL EXAMS?!!!
I jumped out of the bed and held the collar of Kyle.
Kyle: ”HEY! What the hell are you doing?!”
Cutler:”Rae?!”
”Please let me go!! I have an important final exam!!”
”No way we can do that!”
”you don’t understand! My future is on stake here!!”
Cutler pulled me away from Kyle, who was glaring at me.
“Calm down, Rae, and listen to me” Cutler grabbed my shoulders and told me in a serious tone “the exam is something you can take again, even if you have to repeat a year, but if you lose your life, you can’t have it again, do you understand me?”
Kyle interjected “Give it up, I heard highschool exams are in the morning, and now it’s the afternoon, so you already missed it”
...I couldn’t accept that, nor did I want to accept it. It was so unfair! I felt suffocated with anger.
”It’s unfair!” I shouted as I shook his hands away and went under my bedsheets. I didn’t like to be seen crying by anyone, even Spencer.
”I really shouldn’t have helped your terrible boss!! Even though I helped him to find his way, he imprison me here! I didn’t do anything wrong to him!!” I cried from under the bedsheets. I couldn’t careless if they hurt me at that point because I was so mad.
“Rae...” I heard Cutler’s muttering, which sounded a bit sad, but I didn’t care much. They were part of this gang, so they didn’t care about a stranger like me.
”You’re right, he’s terrible” Cutlers voice got closer to the bed “ but you know...”
I could hear him sitting of the bed side.
“in the underworld, you can’t protect what you hold dear if don’t become terrible”
I thought a bit about his words. It didn’t change the fact that I was wronged, and how I felt about it, but I understood something.
This was gangs true nature. No matter how kindly they act, you can’t expect them to change even if you do them a favor or many favors. Do not expect them to return it, nor should you expect to be spared if they target you.
I felt like I warmed a bit to Cutler after I met him, but those feeling vanished instantly with that realization.
