well, we had to cross the road first. It was still raining heavily. Did I mention that I had to share my umbrella with the gangester? No? My bad, it was a major reason for my fear of being captured and killed, but I couldn’t just let the scary man get soaked while I was under my umbrella, right?
Anyways, so we had to wait near the walking area on the cross road. There was a lot of car traffic, and the lights were still red, so we couldn’t cross right away. There was a slightly big crowd of people around us too. I wasn’t surprised, since Majestic wasn’t the only hotel near here. There were few close by, as well as many restaurants. This area of our district was constantly busy, ever since most of it was renovated two years ago to accommodate tourists. I heard from Spencer’s co-worker that they had VIP services too for the rich. Maybe, the gangester was one of them?
I glanced at him since he was unusually quiet. What if he was thinking about killing me?! I did talk to him rudely, even if it was to defend myself. He looked really annoyed.
”Kid, for how long am I supposed to wait? I might be late” he said in an angry tone.
Uh-oh! His patience is running out.
”r-right as soon as the lights turn green, Mr. Carter”
I pressed the button on the light piller multiple times, it it still didn’t turn green! What’s wrong with my luck today?!
Suddenly, I heard a loud crying sound close to us. I looked at it direction, and I opened my eyes in horror. There was a child with his mother. The child was hiding behind his mother crying, nand the mother was trying to calm him down. From whom he was hiding, you might ask? The answer was right beside me.
”This is annoying” his mood was getting much worse.
”uh, don’t worry, Mr. Carter. Children are always like that! He’ll be quiet in a little while”
“Shut up”
“Y-yes”
I felt awful. When are the lights going to turn green? I started to hear whispers around me while waiting.
“That man with the hat, you don’t think he’s...”
”Shhhhh! Be quiet! You want to die?”
”what’s he doing here?!”
“ don’t worry. Midzone is a Safe Zone! If he tries anything, the Mayor won’t let him go unscathed”
“His face looks scary! He even made a child his follower!”

This was bad. Really bad!! Won’t those people shut up?! I’m the one who’ll be in trouble if he gets angry. The gun in his pocket will be pointed to my head?!!
The lights turned green at last! and we managed to cross the road without mishaps. The gangester suddenly stopped near a tree, so I had to stop as well. He turned to look at me directly, his expression was blank, but his eyes looked dead.
“What about you?”
“Yes?”
”Tell me honestly, do I look scary?”
Is that a trick question? Was what I thought at that time.
“If you lie, I’ll kill you. Believe me, I can tell” he smiled when he said that.

I had only one option.
I took a deep breath to calm down.
”Yes, I think you’re scary...”
He suddenly turned around, and was about to walk away, but I grabbed his arm.
”Please let me finish” I said while I looked seriously at him directly. He stopped.
“What makes you scary to others is your outfit and expression. I know that you’re a gangester, but it’s risky to make it obvious in Midzone. As for why I find you scary, it’s the same as others, but mainly because of your way of talking. I’m really scared that you would take out your gun any second and shoot me in the head, since you constantly threaten with “I’ll kill you”. If you were wearing casual clothing, and asked me for directions, I would gladly help you without looking so nervous or worried. I’m sure you noticed that by now, right?”
He nodded. I continued.
”As a human being, you’re not scary. In fact, I think you might be popular since you have good looks. However, your occupation is what makes people fear you. I’m not going to say anything about that since it’s none of my business, but you should at least disguise yourself in public in order to avoid getting in trouble and to get things done smoothly. By that, I mean your outfit and attitude”
”...I see”
He didn’t say anything after that. He looked like he was thinking about what I said. He started walking again, and I matched his pace soon after that.
He’s not going to kill me...right? I was really worried. I told him everything. Well, almost everything, but still, why did I have to go and give a gangester advice?! It’s strange!!
Did I...actually feel sorry for him? For a gangester?!
It didn’t matter though, since we finally reached Majestic front doors. After that, I wouldn’t worry about getting involved with him anymore!!
