I felt a little tickle on my face; as if a feather was running across it. Groaning softly, I slowly opened my eyes and blinked a few times before I was met with crystal green globes staring back at me with curiosity and adoration running through them.
“Crimson!” I shot up from my bed and leaned over to his. He was finally awake!
He furrowed his brows at me as he looked around the room. “Curly?” He said hesitantly as he reached to touch the bandage wrapped around my forehead. “What happened to you? Where are we?”
“You don’t remember?” I whispered as I caressed his cheek. “We got into a car accident after I foolishly tugged on the wheel. We’re at Lux’s house,”

“Yes we did!” I said, happy that he remembered at least a bit of it.
“The terrorists,” His voice became low. “What about them?”

“Why are we even here?” His voice got more tense. “Shouldn’t we be at the Royal Hospital? Does Robert know about what happened? Does anyone from the palace even know where we are?”
“Crimson calm down, I-”
“ANSWER ME ALEXANDRA!” He suddenly boomed.
Taken back by his loud voice, I merely uttered out a squeak. “N-No,”
“NO?” He said incredulously as he tried to get up but fell back down in pain. Thankfully, I was healed enough to move in and out of my bed on my own.
“Please Crimson calm down,” I moved to sit beside him.

“I SAID CALM THE FUCK DOWN YOU JACKASS!” I shouted losing my temper. “YOU SHOUTING AT ME ISN’T GOING TO CALM ANYONE’S FUCKING NERVES HERE!”
He sighed roughly and ran his hand over his face a few times before taking a deep breath and looking at me. “I’m sorry baby-”

“Yeah well,”
“Don’t ‘yeah well’ me!” He mocked. “And I only get angry at you when it means that your safety is in danger. You’re my top priority and when I feel as if you’re threatened, I feel threatened and I don’t like to feel threatened,”
“What if I’m a threat to myself?” I raised an eyebrow as I leaned closer to his face.

“And just how do you plan on doing that Mr. Cross?” I said seductively as I moved over so that I was now straddling him. Our lips were now millimeters apart.
“By chaining you up,” His husky voice said into my ear before smashing his lips against mine. His muscular arms wrapped around my waist as he gently flipped me over so that he was now on top. Wasn’t he injured?
“God Alex,” He moaned into my mouth as he hands trailed up and down my sides. I don’t even know what’s going on? One moment we were at each others throats, and now, our tongues halfway down each others throats!
“W-Wait, Crimson,” I said breathlessly as his hands fiddled with the end of my top.
“Curly,” He moaned again as he began peppering kisses around my neck. “I need yo-”
“WELL IT LOOK LIKE YOU BOTH ARE FEELING A-OKAY!”
We both turned our heads at the obnoxious sound to see Lux, Pinky and Blair standing there with shit-eating grins on their faces. Well, at least Pinky and Lux did. Blair seemed more surprised than anything.
“Isn’t he your royal gua-” Blair started to say but stopped once she caught sight of my powerful glare.
“Shut up, keep it quiet, or else,” I referred to telling my mother about the dream. She audibly gulped and lowered her head.
“Or else what?” Lux questioned.

“What!” Pinky exclaimed. “But Crimson is still injured,”
“We need to go back before it gets out to the public,” I ran my fingers through my knotted curls. “We’re already going to be in some deep shit from Robert,”
“I’m so going to get fired,” Crimson sighed in his hands. “Robert’s going to kill me,”
“No he won’t,” I said. “I already got the perfect lie to tell him,”

“You got lost in the woods for two days,” Robert raised an eyebrow at Crimson and I. “If that is so, why didn’t you press the emergency panic button that is installed in all royal vehicles,”896Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡyKAy0om37v
“It got destroyed in the crash,” I lied flawlessly. “Like I told you, the car smashed against the tree and began rolling down the hill. Crimson managed to get us both out before it completely fell off of the cliff near Alvernia,”
“That is a rather high cliff sir,” A guard said to Robert, unknowingly helping me out.
I cleared my throat before continuing. “Crimson and I were passed out for a few hours, but when we awoke, we immediately started a trek to find the main road. It took us two days but we did it,”
“Two days huh,” He crossed his arms as he narrowed his eyes at me. “What did you eat in those two days?”
“We found-”
“Stop,” He interrupted. “I want to hear from Crimson,”
Shit. I glanced at him from the corner of my eye to spot any visible signs of him being nervous, but there were none. He seemed calm, cool and collected about this big fat lie; just like me.
“As you should know Robert,” He started. “Alvernia is known internationally for it’s delectable wild grapes. Though they became stalling after a while, we’d managed not to succumb to hunger by feeding on those grapes. Water wasn’t a problem either, Lake Alvernia provided us with more than enough,”
If I didn’t have to keep my character, my jaw would’ve dropped. He told that lie without stuttering or gulping or even his breathing pattern changing. Damn, my man was good!
“If that’s so, then their would be no need for an investigation, right sir?” Another guard asked Robert. But his gaze continued to be calculating as he constantly stared back and forth between Crimson and I.
“Though the Princess may not realize it,” Robert said standing up from his seat and circling around us. “I’ve known her for quite a long time. And in my time working here, I’ve come to realize that she is a master of deception. Her gaze is always cold, sharp and calculating. Trying to decipher if she’s lying or not is a feat not even I can accomplish,”
Damn right he can’t!
“Crimson however,” He stopped directly in front of him. “Is one of the most trusted and loyal employees that we’ve ever had here and I doubt that he would even try to tell a lie to me, or that he can even get away with telling me one,”

“There will be no investigation of this matter then,” He closed his book. “At least, only into the terrorists that were pursuing you,”

“Sure,” He shrugged. “But try to stay out of trouble Princess,”
“I’m not promising anything,” I said before strolling out of there. Crimson was about to follow after me but was stopped by Robert.
“Crimson, we need you to help with the investigation of the terrorists,”
Damn it! It’s like I can never get any alone time with him!
“I’ll be right there!” He called back. “I’m going to take a quick trip to the bathroom first!”
He gently grabbed my wrist and pulled me into one of the many utility closets in the palace. It was so cramped in here that I was pressed up against his chest. Only a dim light bulb was above us, making Crimson’s sparkling eyes glow a shimmering green. My gosh, he is gorgeous!
“Hey don’t pout,” He gently kissed my lips.
“But you’re leaving me again,” I whined. “And every time you do, it gets really tense between us and then we fight! I don’t like it when we fight because we both say hurtful things to each other,”
“I know Curly,” He sighed as he rested his forehead against mine. “I’m sorry that I have to leave you all the time but, it’s for your safety. I have to go and stop those terrorists from ever getting close to you again, even if it costs my life!”
I was shocked. His life? I don’t want him risking his life for me; even is he is my royal guard. “Crimson you can’t-”
“No Alex, please hear me out,” He tilted my chin so that our eyes were locked together. “When one of them broke into your room two months ago, I nearly lost it when he tried to touch you and I didn’t think twice about putting a hole through his skull!”
I winced a bit at the gory memory of it. The bloody, limp body on my bed made me want to hurl.
“My point Alex is that, I just want to keep you safe,” He sighed. “Right now, your safety comes before anything else, even mine. And I will make sure that you are always safe, even if it means that you come to hate me one day,”
“I could never,” I held his cheek in my palm.
He gently peeled it away from his cheek before kissing me deeply on the lips once more. “You might,”
“No Crimson don’t say things like that!” I glared.
He sighed deeply again before cracking the door open. “I’ve got to go, Robert will be looking for me soon,”
Reluctantly, I stepped out of the closet as he checked to make sure no one was around. I slowly turned around to walk back towards my bedroom when he suddenly spun me around and dip kissed me.
“Stay safe babe,” He said seductively as he returned me to a standing position. “When I get some time off, I’m going to take you out on a real date, like you deserve,”
My previously gloomy face immediately lit up as I grinned like a child on Christmas. “Really! You promise?”
He kissed my hand. “You have my word! I have to go now babe,”
“Will you come into my room?” I whispered.
“Probably not,” He shook his head as he backed away. “I’m sorry Curly I really have to go,” He said before turning around and running back into the room with Robert.
“Bye,” I whispered lowly as I sighed. Why couldn’t I have been a normal girl? Then we could’ve had a normal relationship without sneaking around. In fact, even if I had normal, loving parents, they probably wouldn’t have minded if I dated my royal guard who was only two years older than me. But no, I had to have gotten heartless bastards for parents!

Speaking of one of those heartless bastards, I wonder if I can find anything about my mother and Blair in the library? The palace keeps records of every person that has ever worked here, maybe I can find out more about their relationship.
“Looks like I found something to keep me busy,” I smirked to myself as I made my way towards the elevator.
I went to the second floor, where the library was located and made my way over to the central wing. God, that took me nearly ten minutes!
“Your Highness,” The librarian bowed her head as I entered the library. Books lines shelves that stretched all the way to the roof! Some were a few years old, some, probably a few centuries!

She hesitated before speaking. “I’m sorry Your Highness, but that information is extremely confidential! I’m not allowed to give out employee information,”896Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡtUucTvg77O
“Oh really,” I quirked my eyebrow. “Then how would you feel about being replaced if you don’t give me what I want?”
Her eyes widened as she stammered. “Pl-Please Your Highness, I have six children and this is the only job that I’ve ever been good at and-”
“I don’t care,” I said nonchalantly. “The only thing I care about is those records and I will get them whether you help me or not. But, if you help me find the specific ones I’m looking for, then I won’t fire you. What’s it going to be?”896Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡsroDH0VhlL
“Your Highness please-”
“You have three seconds,” I twirled my hair around my finger.
“Your Highness I cannot possibly-”
“Three,”
“Please listen to me-”
“Two,”
“It’s illegal to-”
“One,”

I gave her a plastic smile. “You have my word,”
Slowly, she walked from behind her desk and made me way towards the back of the library and to my surprise, their was a staircase leading downwards. Who would’ve thought?896Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡPTL9PW4EUD
The room beneath it was even more shocking. Glass lined the walls as the stretched on for meters. Behind the glass contained files with names and dates on them.
“Who’s records are you looking for?” She asked.
“Blair Heavens,” I folded my arms. “She worked here as maid under my mother twelve years ago,”896Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡE1wm4HNC1h
“Under the Queen,” She repeated. “Then they would be in the royal vault,”
I followed her again as she walked to the very end of the corridor where a vault was placed. I watched her carefully as she tried to be discreet as she unlocked the vault. But I’d already memorized the combination!
The lights flickered on when it was opened and I stepped inside, it was just as big as the corridor before! Jesus, I didn’t even know all of this was in the library!896Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡJ8oBtYeZKW
“I will go to check for it,” She said walking over to the left. While she did her thing, I looked around at all the other names and stopped when I came across mine.
“Her Royal Highness, Princess Alexandra Claudette of the Heartlands (77th Princess)” It read. And directly under it was Crimson’s name and status to me as my royal guard.
“Your Highness!” The Librarian called. “The file is not here!”
“What do you mean it’s not here?” I stalked angrily over to her. Under my mother’s name was all of her employees names, but Blair’s was nowhere to be found. What the fuck? Did she lie to me about being a maid?
“Maybe there was a mistake-”
“No,” I interrupted her. “This isn’t a mistake. She never was a maid here and she probably was never my mother’s friend in the first place!”
