HELGA'S POV
Homecoming night finally came. Me and Phoebe had went back to that dress shop and bought a dress for the both of us. Phoebe bought a navy blue dress that goes down to her knees. I bought a black dress that reaches the floor. We both decided to hang out at my house to get ready for the dance. We did both of our hair and now we're putting make up on.
"Wow, Helga. If this is how Homecoming is, I wonder what Prom would be like." Phoebe said as we both stared at ourselves in the mirror.
"Well, we won't know till our senior year of high school." I replied.
"Unless a senior at our school asks us."
I nodded. "But we're not exactly dating seniors."
Phoebe looked at her small watch on her wrist. "We should get going. The dance is starting soon."
The both of us left the bathroom and strapped our shoes onto our feet. I grabbed a small black purse to match my dress and headed out of my house with Phoebe. Though, that's when Bob stopped us and suggested that we let him drive us to the school. We both shrugged and got into Bob's car. Hey, it beats taking the city bus.
When we got to the school's gym, the music was pumping. There were a few people dancing on the dance floor, others were eating and drinking at the snack table and there were some people socializing.
"Wow. This dance looks amazing! And look at all the lights!" Phoebe exclaimed.
"Yeah. It's awesome." I was breathless.
"You girls look mighty fine tonight." Gerald said as he and Arnold walked up to the both of us.
"You look really cute, Phoebe." Gerald complimented.
Phoebe blushed and giggled. "Thanks. You look pretty handsome yourself."
I smiled and rolled my eyes at the two lovebirds then looked at Arnold. I was surprised to see that Marley wasn't hanging all over him.
"Where's Marley?" I asked.
"She got sick so she couldn't come." Arnold explained.
I nodded. "Oh. Okay." Though, deep down, I was super happy.
"You look really beautiful, Helga." Arnold complimented.
I smiled. "Thanks, football head. You look handsome too."
"We'll see you guys later." Gerald said then walked away with Phoebe.
I watched them walk away before looking at Arnold.
"So...care to dance?" He asked.
I smiled brightly. "Sure."
A slow song was playing so me and Arnold danced to the slow song. I had my arms around his neck while he had his hands on my waist. I smiled at Arnold as we moved across the dance floor. I felt like Cinderella right now. Then, I kissed Arnold. I eventually pulled away from the kiss and rested my chin on his shoulder.
The slow song eventually ended. Me and Arnold broke away and for the rest of the night, we danced, ate and talked. It was the most we have ever done since Marley came into Arnold's life. Once the dance was over, me, Arnold, Phoebe and Gerald walked out of the school.
"See you guys later." Gerald said.
We all said our goodbyes and went in opposite directions.
"Hey, would you like to come to my house?" He asked.
I shrugged. "Sure."

When we got to Arnold's house, I sat in the living room as Arnold brew up some tea for us to drink. Once the tea was ready, he brought over a cup for me and sat down next to me on the couch with his cup. I gently held the cup of tea in my hand then took a sip. It immediately warmed me up since it was a little chilly outside.
"I'm really glad we got to hang out tonight." Arnold finally said.
I looked at him and smiled then nodded. "Me too. Marley wasn't there to hang onto your arm and keep you from talking to me."
Arnold nodded. "Yeah...I've been thinking about breaking up with her. Permanently this time." He admitted.
My eyes widen. "Wow. Really? I bet she's going to be really upset."
Arnold nodded again. "I know. I really wish I didn't have to break her heart but Gerald's right. I should be with someone who I really like and care about."
I smiled softly as I stared at Arnold. Arnold stared back at me then set his cup of tea down before taking mine out of my hands and set it down on the table in front of us. I watched him in confusion till he brushed my hair out of my face.
"You're really beautiful." He whispered then kissed me.
I started to kiss Arnold back for a minute till he pulled away.
"Do you want to go upstairs?" He asked.
I nodded.
We both stood up and headed upstairs to Arnold's room. When we walked in, I looked around it. I was pretty surprised to see that Arnold's room hasn't changed. Heck, my room hasn't changed either.
"It's crazy to think that our rooms haven't changed since we were in elementary school."
Arnold nodded as he shut the door behind him.
"I know but I like it this way. It brings back good memories."
I looked at Arnold and smiled then he kissed me again. After a few minutes of kissing, Arnold pulled away again.
"Do you want to...you know..."
"You mean, have sex?"
Arnold nodded. "We don't have to if you're not ready."
I shook my head. "I'm ready. I've been ready."
Arnold smiled then took me over to his bed and pushed me down on it. He climbed ontop of me and started to kiss me again. We both didn't waste any time with taking our clothes off. I know that Arnold's huge family is probably asleep right now but there's still that awkward possibility of someone walking in on us.
Arnold gently kissed my cheek before looking at me.
"Nobody is going to come in." He said then gently caressed my face.
I smiled. "You read my mind."
Arnold smiled then kissed me again.
***
I laid next to Arnold after we finished. I felt pain all over my body but right now, it didn't seem like it mattered. After all these years of crushing on Arnold and wanting to kiss him and like me back has paid off. I looked up at Arnold as he kissed my forehead. He then looked at me.
"I love you, Helga Pataki." He whispered.
My eyes widen at Arnold's confession. I really didn't expect that but I was happy. To be honest, I've always loved Arnold.
I smiled at him. "I love you too, Arnold."
He smiled then kissed me before we both fell asleep in each others arms.
