It was finally time, finally time for Katherine to go home. Go home to her mother, go home to her sister, and to her comfortable bed room. As the van pulled up to her home, her mother parked the car slowly. "Now Katherine, you got to take it easy for two more days before you go back to school. So that means no more-" Katelyn dashed out the door of her car, hoping out quickly. "Ahh, finally! I get to breathe in fresh air!"
"Katherine! Listen to me for a second!" Her mother got out the car, looking the doors. "Oh how i missed my home! I can't wait to lay on my bed!" "Katherine August ---------Johnson!" Her mother had said it, she had said her full name. "Mom! Don't call me by my full name!"
"Well listen to me next time!" She gave a sigh to her mother, as she stood looking at her mother. "I have to go out somewhere, but relax okay. If you get hungry, i bought you some snacks and put them on your bed along with a water bottle. "Alright..." Her mom got back in the car as she rolled down the passenger window yelling through it. "And make sure to stay in bed and relax. You can take your hospital bag back up to your room, right?" As she strutted back to her house, she gave a thumbs up to show her mom she would be alright.
She Cast aside her bag on her bed, as she lunged herself on it with a sigh. "oh, how i missed my bed!" Gazing at the ceiling, she lay in silence as the birds chirped outside. She had just got home, and she didn't know what to do. Just then, her phone began to ring. It hadn't rung in so long, she forgot she had a Melanie Martinez song as her ring tone. She picked it up without checking the caller I.D. as she continued to stare at the ceiling.
"Hello?" The voice that answered was unexpected. "Kat! Hey, i heard you got released from the hospital." Moving the phone from her ear slightly, she took a sigh before answering. "Oh, i'm sorry. But, who are you again?" "Stop being silly, it's me, Lucas."
"I don't know a Lucas, Sorry, but i think you have the wrong number." She heard a chuckle from the other end, as he took a sigh. "Hey, guess what i did?" "What?...What did you do? Thrill me on all the fascinating details." Rolling her eyes, looking at her nails. "I sent a video of you singing to the principal for the talent show."
"You...WHAT?!" Rising up from her bed, she knocked over a frame that she put down on her nightstand. It hit the ground, shattering as Lucas continued to talk. "Yeah, it was pretty amazing too. He responded to me saying that he wanted to talk to you first thing when you get back to school on Wednesday."
She knelt down on the floor, looking at all the shattered glass shards and frame that sat upside down. "Lucas...why did you do that?" Taking a piece of paper to scoop up the glass shards she put the paper on her desk. "Because, you would be a awesome addition to the talent show. And who knows, maybe that school you wanted to go to will be checking you out as well.
"Lucas, i don't care if you tried to do it for me! I told you i was done with music! I told you i wasn't performing, and even when i did; It was private." She grabbed the frame, as she turned it over to the right side. "Yeah, well too late for that. Come on, Katherine. Whatever is haunting you to make you not perform, it's time to get over it." As he spoke, she realized she was looking at a photo of her and aiden performing together at a little shop they had at their hangout.
"...Listen, Katherine, I know whatever you went through in the past must be really hard. Given how it left you like this, but i think it's time to get over it. I'm sure you can move on somehow, especially if you have people to surround yourself by to help you."
For once, he spoke something soft and fragile so perfectly. For once his words had reached her ears, and she could hear him so clearly.
Then, she remembered the promise she made to aiden. The promise she had forgotten about after she lost him.
Kat, promise me that no matter what happens, you will continue to live your dreams. I know you love music, just as much as you love me. You can't give up on it, no matter what gets to you, or what tragedies you face. Promise me?

For once, she remembered a good memory without remembering a bad one. The promise she had made with him, she finally remembered it.
"So...what do you say, Kat?"
"Alright, I will do it. We can discuss this later, okay? Bye." Hanging up the phone, she put her phone down next to her as she gazed at the photo. "Aiden, i'm sorry i forgot the promise. But, i finally remembered it. Sorry it took me so long, but i won't break it anymore; Or i will try." She hugged the photo to her chest, as she stood on her feet. For once, she placed it on her night stand faced up, standing on its leg. For once, she could look at a memory of aiden and not break down with no control.
