I'm thirteen years old, I live in Wonder Lake Illinois USA, I'm an only child, and I can control the water.
It all started at the beginning of this year when I started watching LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu on Netflix. Now, I when I first discovered it, I watched the first five seasons on the television, found season six on YouTube, and season seven recently came out in English. I guess you could say I'm an obsessed fangirl.
Anyway, one particular character that always stood out to me was Nya. She is the sister of Kai, the red ninja of fire, and I still find that funny, ya know, him controlling fire and her controlling water?
Ha. Haha. Ha... okay. Back on topic.
She didn't discover that she could control water until season five, but when she joined the team as the official water ninja, she became my favorite character. I would spend my days in the lake, splashing my friends with water pretending to be Nya. One day, I was reading a book about the ocean and I went to turn the page, but when I touched the paper it became soaked with water. I was confused about it at the moment, but I eventually grew used to it.
As time went on, I figured out how it worked. I will confess, I mostly used it to prank my friends little brothers.
It was a really fun to play with, and I never really thought much of it, until one day I was Canoeing with my best friends, June and Em. We had persuaded our parents to let us use a Canoe that June's parents owned to Canoe downstream on the Nippersink Creak.
About Halfway there, we came upon a problem- there was a fork in the river that we didn't know about.
"Uh... was that there before?" June asked.
"Huh. I don't know. Go left. I'm sure it's left." Em said.
"And how are you 'so sure' it's left?" I crossed my arms.
"Remember when we got lost on the way to the roller rink? I said go left, we went left, and we made it on time!"
"Yeah. After almost falling in the sewer, getting hit by a garbage truck, and witnessing a robery." June sighed.
"Let's go right." I said.
"Left."
"Right."
"Yay!"
"I don't get it."
"I said left, and you said right!"
"Yeah... still don't- oh. I hate you." June steered the Canoe down the left fork. After about five minutes, we started to speed up.
"Rayline, stop rowing so fast!" Em cried as we hit a large and unexpected wave.
"AAHH!"
"Stop yelling, we're okay."
"I'm soaked!"
"Yeah. We practically grew up in water and we're soaked. Big shock."
"Uh... do you guys hear that?" June asked nervously.
"The sound of angery water? Yup." Em said.
"Then, why aren't you turning this thing around!"
"YOU DON'T THINK I'M TRYING?!"
"Guys! Guys! Calm d- AAAHH!" The boat shook unexpectedly and for the first time I saw what we were up against- A thirty foot waterfall with jagged rocks.
"WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!" Em sobbed.
"No, we aren't. Uh... now this might not be the best time to tell you, but, I can control water, and uh-"
"YOU CAN CONTROL WHAT NOW?!"
"Emma Avalon McGrath- calm down!" I yelled.
"Don't use my full name!"
"Fine, now you and June just hold- June?"
June was holding her head and hyperventilating like crazy.
"We're gonna die..." Tears streamed down her cheeks.
"Oh... no we're not. I'll make sure we don't." I said calmly. Em looked at me quizzically.
I mouthed the words, 'anxiety attack' and she nodded, grabbing June's arms and whispering, "Just hold onto me as tight as you can, okay honey?"
June nodded silently.
"It's getting closer Ray."
"Yeah. I noticed." I said, frantically looking around.
"So... what are you gonna do?"
"Just wait..." I shut my eyes as we spead towards the falls. I held my arms out and concentrated until my head felt like an atomic bomb. We were'nt falling, but Em and June were screaming like crazy, which was all I needed to know that it was working. I had made a literal 'water slide' down into the pool at the bottom.
"AAAHHH!!"
"AAAHHHH!!!"
I got spalshed as our little canoe touched down on the water. As I tried to ease my nerves, I looked back at my friends to make sure they were okay. June had Em's left arm in a white-knuckled grip, and Em's right arm was gripping the middle seat.
"How... did you do that?" Em asked.
I didn't have time to answer before everything went black.

"Rayline! Time to get up!"
I jerked up in my bed, looking out my window to see the lake, the birds, the water skiers, the swimmers, the boaters... everything was normal. I shook my head.
"Was that a dream...?"
"Rayline! Up and at'em!"
"Hey mom? What did we do yesterday?"
"Yesterday? We went tubing with Uncle Norris."
"It was a dream..." I whispered. I got out of bed to get ready, not noticing how my pillows were completely soaked with water...
