Chapter One -Violet-
Violets eyes popped open as she heard the scrabble of claws on the bamboo floor. “I know you’re there Bloom, being invisible doesn’t make you silent.” “Aww, how did you know it was me?” Said an empty patch of space. Violet sighed and gracefully uncurled herself from her sleeping ledge, “you’re the only one rude enough to wake a sleeping princess.” “Hmph, I’m a princess too you know!” The space whinged “ha, you think you’d act like one” Violet retorted. “What did you want anyway Bloom?” “Oh yeah, Peacock wanted to see you.” Said the now visible dragonet. “WHAT!” With a scramble of claws Violet stumbled out her hut and dived gracefully through the trees leaving her little sister behind.
“Oh, that idiot” Violet muttered as she wove through the vines “Can’t even deliver a message”. Eventually, she reached the royal pavilion, the place where she and Peacock always met. She saw Peacock pacing along the balcony, trails of pale green rippling through her scales. “Peacock?” Peacock jumped high enough to hit her head on the branches above before she quickly squashed any emotion in her scales forcing them into a royal blue and deep green. “Oh it’s just you Vi,” Peacock said with a sigh of relief. “Uh yeah, Bloom said you wanted to see me?” “Oh, it’s horrible!” Peacock exclaimed. Violet arched an eyebrow -a skill she learnt from her Aunt- Peacock was only a year younger her but her imagination could still get the better of her. “What’s horrible?” The sickly green returned to Peacocks scales “They’re sending you away!”
Violet paced up and down the meeting room her scales a blur of red and orange with the occasional sickly green strike. “Violet dear, you have to understand” her mother started. “No!” “I don’t want to go to some faraway school on the other side of the continent!” “Now Violet” Her father warned, “Don’t take that tone with your mother” Violet whirled around as another dragon entered the room. “Jambu, Rose” The newcomer addressed Violet's parents, “do you mind if I have a word with Violet?” Violets parents looked at each other before they turned and quickly exited the room. Violet gulped and turned to look at her Aunt, the Queen Glory of the Rainwings. “Let’s take a fly Violet”
Violet sighed as she packed her satchel, her Aunt had taken her around the rainforest and pointed out how attending jade mountain academy would mean she would meet new friends, learn about other tribes and as a potential successor to the throne of the rainwings it would help her to learn about the entire continent of Pyrrhia. After a lot of arguing Glory coming up with more and more reasons to go, Violet had begrudgingly agreed. So now she was packing some scrolls and her favourite amethyst necklace in the shape of -you guessed it- a violet. She flung her satchel onto a table and flopped into bed. Then the dreams came.
