Chapter Two -Allseer-
Allseer sighed as she made her way to the fruit store, just walking through town meant she could hear all the hate. Dragons tried to cover up their minds by thinking the most random thoughts, it didn’t work. Allseer sighed again. She hated her power. Although she wasn’t the only dragonet hatched after leaving the volcano she was the only one born with mind-reading powers, all the others just had prophecy telling and visions. Ducking her head to avoid the scowls she finally arrived at the sweet sanctuary of Bigtail’s fruit store. She went inside picked up a mango and started munching just as Bigtail walked out from his office and into the dining area. “Ah Allseer, my favourite customer” Allseer cringed at her name, her parents were crazy to name her Allseer, it screamed “hey I’m more powerful than you! Haha, now you can hate me!” Allseer sighed for the third time, you didn’t have to be a mind reader to know something was bothering her. “What’s on your mind?” Bigtail inquired. “Nothing” Allseer mumbled. “Hmm, mango for your thoughts?” Allseer grinned you couldn’t beat free mango. “They’re always thinking about me,” she said in a whisper her grin now vanished. “Well they’re piles of dragon- Bigtail didn’t finish his sentence, a huge crash interrupted him accompanied by dragon roars and the ominous whoosh of something going up in flames. “Holy bananas what was that!?” He turned to Violet “Go through the back and get the rainwing guards” Bigtail hurried outside towards the chaos. Allseer didn’t hesitate, she turned on her heels and ran.
She quickly headed away from the village and into the forest. She found a patrol of rainwings almost immediately. Their scales were the royal dark purple accented with white morning glory flowers patterned along their necks and down their bodies, the royal rainwing colours. The rainwings turned sharply as they heard her coming. “Come, quick, riot” she managed to splutter out. Who Allseer guessed was in charge of the small patrol started barking orders, “you three head to the village with me, you two get general Mango and inform the queen.” The rainwings took off leaving Allseer alone in the small clearing.
Allseer turned and flopped onto a soft fern plant. When informing the guards she had said it was a riot even though she hadn’t seen it. Allseer sighed again. There had been lots of riots recently. Ever since Darkstalker the evil dragon who had taken the Nightwings from Queen Glory’s rule and to the ancient home of the Nightwings was defeated all of the Nightwings returned to the jungle but over the past year, the Nightwings had started to riot. They wanted to become their own tribe with a Nightwing Queen. They were rioting until they got it. Allseer’s mother and she didn’t agree with the riots but her father did. It wasn’t a very talked-about topic. She sighed one last time before resting her head in the ferns.
Allseer sat bolt up. She had fallen asleep! Looking up she saw two out of the three moons lighting the sky, how long had she been out here? She hurried back to the village, her mother would be worried sick! As she hurried past the wreckage from the riot she took mental notes, destroyed rug stall now smouldering ashes, blown up well-meaning heading to the river to collect water, dead body. Allseer gulped, she didn’t recognise the Nightwing and he could have been horrible for all she knew, but… She shook her head and to her relief, she saw her house. She eased the door open and saw her mother sobbing on the floor.
Flooded with guilt Allseer hurried to her mother's side. Her mother turned to let out a gasp and pulled her in tight, “there -hic- w-was a b-body, I-I thought that…” her mother said through sobs “Oh mum I’m so sorry” Allseer snuggled closer and it wasn’t until a couple of moments later when there was a sharp knock on the door that Allseer realised something- where was her father? Her mother wiped her eyes and went to the door. As she got up she heard her mother had thought the same thing.
Allseer wasn’t in the room when her mother was informed but she could hear the booming rainwings voice as he informed her that her father had been detained, he had led the riot. Allseer hadn’t cried though, how could she? Her father had hurt an innocent dragon with his chaos! She let out a roar. She felt better. Her mother had come to her bedroom. They held each other for ages waiting for something, anything.
The next day that something happened. Allseer had received a letter from the Queen, she was to attend the prestigious Jade Mountain Academy.
