I rushed through my cat door and threw myself onto Azalin's lap once I saw him sitting on the couch. Azalin rubbed my head, "what's wrong Gray?" I morphed back, "some weird familiar kept trying to be my friend and tackled me when I was flying into Mrs. Duggard's house." "I'm so sorry about Nox, he can be a little outgoing," a beautiful young woman was sitting on the couch across from us. She startled me and I scrambled to get out of Azalin's lap, "you told him that every familiar are friends." She sat there silently staring at me as if I had already insulted her by coming into my house.

Nox burst through our front door, "what are you?!" The woman stood up, "calm down Nox, what are you going on about?" he shut the door and pointed at me, "I saw her turn into two different animals!" I shrugged, "I can turn into any animal I can think of, are you not able to do that?" Nox waved his arm in frustration, "what? No, familiars are only able to morph into the animal that they are originally summoned as." Azalin rubbed the back of his neck, "Grey was a human girl when I summoned her." The woman gasped, "that has never happened before." They all stared at me, I've never met another familiar before so how was I supposed to know that it wasn't normal. By the time Azalin summoned me his mother, her familiar, and his father's familiar had passed away. His father made him summon me at a younger age than most wizards, familiars are summoned when the witch or wizard is fifteen, but I was summoned when he was eight years old. Azalin's father knew that they needed a familiar in their life, but he didn't treat me any different when I changed into different animals. Why do they act like I'm some kind of monster?

Nox eventually calmed down, he and his mistress were sitting on the couch again. Azalin introduced the woman as Uqia, a witch from a neighboring city hoping to move to ours. I already didn't like her, she bossed Nox around like he was a servant. Azalin never talked to me like that. "Do you want any tea Gray?" he offered me a cup. Uqia looked at him disgruntled, "why are you getting her tea?" He furrowed his brows, "because she is my friend." She scoffed, "familiars are not our friends, they're tools." I could tell by his posture that he didn't like her either, he wants her out of our house. Uqia set her cup of tea down on the table, "all alright, I'm going to get down to my main objective. I want to marry you, and I want Nox to marry Gray." Azalin slammed his hand on the table, "GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!"

She was taken aback by his outburst, "my father wants me to marry a powerful wizard to increase our bloodline. You can't refuse?" He stood up and pointed to the door, "I can and I just did. Now Gray can either turn into a bear or you can meet Alice." Nox looked confused, "who is Alice?" The cellar door flew open and her eight-foot-tall dryad self climbed out, "I'm Alice." Uqia looked at Azalin in shock, "why do you have a dryad in your house?" Alice stepped closer, "it's my home." Nox grabbed a hold of my arm and pulled me out of my seat, "you need to talk some sense into your master." Azalin pulled me to his side, "don't touch her." That was the last straw for Alice, her eyes began to glow white, and the house began to shake. The floorboards that Uqia and Nox were standing on started to float towards the door. "GET OUT!" she screamed. Uqia grabbed onto the doorframe as she was being pushed out, "I will be back Azalin, and you will marry me."

Alice slammed the door with her magic and set the boards back in their original spots. Azalin cupped my face with his hands, "are you okay?" I nodded, "I'm just a little shaken up. I can't believe they came in here demanding things." He kissed me on the forehead and whispered, "if I can't marry you then I will marry no one." I tilted my head to the side while tears welled up in my eyes, "that doesn't seem fair to you." He shook his head, "I'm happy as long as I'm with you." We stared into each other's eyes for a few seconds and then Azalin remembered that Alice was in the room. He glared at her, "tell no one." She crossed her heart with her finger, "I won't tell a soul but I already figured it out." His shoulders slumped, "you spied on us through the wood?" She whistled innocently and went to go make her a cup of coffee. I touched Azalin's arm, "what do we do when they come back?" He just hugged me tightly, "I'll handle it."

I took a nap before I made my nightly deliveries, it was hard to fall asleep after the events that just happened. Azalin came into the bedroom and crawled under the covers, "are you sure that you're ok?" I nodded. He sighed, "please let Alice go with you tonight. I don't want that Nox fellow to cause you any trouble again." I shook my head, "you know she can't leave, plus I'll just turn into a mountain lion and eat him." He chuckled, "I know that you can take care of yourself but I am still going to worry all night." I kissed him good night and stopped at the door, "you worry too much."
