One Month Later
It had been a month since the night everything changed. Since the kiss, the confessions, the intensity that neither of them could fully deny. William and Luke had spent the time since then navigating the space between them—figuring out what they were, what this meant, how to move forward. It hadn’t been perfect, but it had been real. And, for the first time in a long time, William was okay with where things were heading. He didn’t have all the answers, but the one thing he knew for sure was that he couldn’t ignore how he felt about Luke anymore.
Tonight, everything was different. The office buzzed with the usual frantic energy, and the important client was in town. But William couldn’t focus on the presentation, couldn’t focus on anything but Luke sitting just across from him. They were both there, but it felt like there was an invisible pull between them—something that had been building, something that had to be said.
The meeting went as expected, the client impressed by the work, the usual back-and-forth. William did his part, but his mind was elsewhere, drifting toward Luke. He kept sneaking glances at him, his heart racing every time their eyes met. He had to do this now. He couldn’t wait any longer.
As the client wrapped up and everyone started to stand, William knew it was his moment. He took a deep breath, pushed back his chair, and walked toward Luke, who was already packing up his things.
“Luke,” William said softly, his voice steady, but his heart thundering in his chest. Luke turned to face him, his expression curious but slightly confused.
“Yeah?” Luke replied, his brows furrowing just slightly.
William took a step closer, feeling the weight of the moment. He had to say it. There was no more running from it, no more pretending. His feelings were too strong, too real. He stopped in front of Luke, his voice quieter now. “I... I need to tell you something. I’ve been meaning to say it for a while now, but tonight feels like the right time.”
Luke’s expression softened, his gaze attentive. “What’s up?”
William took another deep breath, his hands slightly trembling but his heart more sure than ever. “I love you, Luke,” he said, the words coming out slowly, deliberately. “I loved you in black and white. I couldn’t see anything but the way you made me feel. I loved you when the world was colorless because you gave me something I could never have seen your true colors.”
Luke’s eyes widened, and for a moment, neither of them said anything. It felt like the world had stopped around them, like everything had fallen into place. William swallowed hard, taking another step closer, feeling the space between them closing.
“I don’t need color to see you, Luke,” William continued, his voice thick with emotion. “I love you just the way you are. I love everything about you, and I... I don’t want to keep pretending that I don’t. I’m done waiting. I just need you to know that.”
Luke opened his mouth, but before he could say anything, William reached into his pocket and pulled out a small box. He held it out to Luke, the weight of the moment sinking in.
“Will you... will you marry me, Luke?” William asked, his voice barely above a whisper, but the words so clear. The proposal hung in the air, and for a second, the world seemed to hold its breath.
Luke stared at the box, his eyes flicking from it to William’s face, the shock and surprise clearly written on his expression. His mouth opened and closed as if he was searching for the right words, and for a moment, William’s heart skipped a beat, unsure of what Luke would say.
Then, finally, Luke’s lips curled into a smile—a real, genuine smile—and he took the box from William’s hand. “You really are something else, Will,” he said softly, his voice filled with awe. He stepped forward, closing the gap between them. “I... I love you too.”
Before William could say anything else, Luke kissed him—slow, deep, and full of everything they’d been holding back. In that kiss, William felt everything he needed to know. He had his answer. And for the first time in a long time, everything felt right.

The Wedding
Months passed, and as the day drew closer, the excitement and nerves began to build. William and Luke had spent the time leading up to their wedding figuring out the details, making decisions together, and creating something that felt uniquely them. It wasn’t the big, lavish affair some people dreamed of—it was small, intimate, filled with meaning. Just the way they wanted it.
The morning of the wedding, the sun was shining through the windows of William's apartment, the city outside buzzing with the usual energy. But in here, it was peaceful. William stood in front of the mirror, staring at his reflection, adjusting his tie for what felt like the hundredth time. His nerves were kicking in, but there was also something else—something deep, a calmness that only Luke could bring.
He heard a knock at the door and turned to face it. His heart skipped a beat. “Come in.”
The door creaked open, and there stood Luke, already dressed in his tuxedo, his dark hair styled perfectly, but it was his smile that took William’s breath away. The smile that had always made him feel at home, no matter where they were, no matter what was going on.
“You look incredible,” William said, his voice a little rough. He took a step toward Luke, feeling his heart pound in his chest.
Luke stepped forward, closing the distance between them, and adjusted William’s tie with gentle fingers. “You do too,” he said softly, his eyes locking onto William’s, full of warmth and affection. “I can’t believe we’re here. I can’t believe it’s really happening.”
William swallowed, trying to shake off the lump in his throat. “I can’t either. But... I’m glad. I’m so glad it’s you.” His voice cracked slightly, but it was the truth. They had been through so much to get to this moment, and it felt like everything had led to today.
Luke smiled again, stepping closer until they were only inches apart. “Me too.” His fingers brushed William’s cheek, a tender touch that sent a shiver down his spine. “You’re my home, Will. Always have been.”
William reached up, cupping Luke’s face in his hands, and leaned in to kiss him softly, a brief but meaningful kiss. When they pulled back, William took a deep breath. “Ready?” he asked, his voice shaky but full of excitement.
“More than ever,” Luke replied with a grin.
The ceremony was held in a small, beautiful garden, surrounded by close friends and family who had supported them through their journey. The air was warm, and the scent of flowers mixed with the soft sounds of nature around them. William’s heart was racing as he stood at the altar, waiting for Luke. His palms were sweating, his mind whirling, but he couldn’t help the smile that tugged at his lips.
And then, Luke appeared, walking toward him, his eyes never leaving William’s. The world seemed to stop for a moment as William watched him—his heart swelling with love, his chest tight with emotion. He was about to marry the man he had loved for so long, the man who had stood by him, who had believed in him even when he couldn’t believe in himself.
When Luke reached him, they exchanged a brief, private smile, and William took his hand, his thumb gently brushing over Luke’s skin.
The officiant began speaking, but William couldn’t focus on the words. All he could think about was Luke—the man who had opened his world, who had helped him see the beauty in things he had never understood before.
And then, it was time.
“Do you, William, take Luke to be your lawfully wedded husband, to love and cherish in sickness and in health, for better or for worse, for as long as you both shall live?”
William’s voice was steady, full of love and certainty. “I do.”
The officiant turned to Luke. “And do you, Luke, take William to be your lawfully wedded husband, to love and cherish in sickness and in health, for better or for worse, for as long as you both shall live?”
Luke looked at William, his eyes soft but filled with so much love, and his voice was thick with emotion. “I do.”
"You may now kiss the groom..."
And then, with a final, joyful declaration, they were married. William couldn’t stop the tears from falling, but they were happy tears. tears that spoke of everything they had overcome, everything they had built together.
As the ceremony ended, Luke pulled William into his arms, holding him close. The world around them disappeared for a moment, and all that was left was the feeling of being home, of finally being in the right place.
"I love you," Luke whispered into his ear, the words so simple but so powerful.
"I love you too," William replied, his voice full of everything they had shared. And as they stood there, hand in hand, looking out at the people who loved them, William knew this was just the beginning.
"Congrats," Luke's mom, Luke's younger sister, William's mom, and Aunty all said at the same time.
