A little-known committee met to review the situation. The Gods of Mount Olympus would not leave Harry's life in the hands of wizards.
The little one started. “So! Harry survived his first year. Next year is going to be different. The diary hasn’t made an appearance yet, and what of the Gaunt ring, Helga Hufflepuff’s cup, and Rowena Ravenclaw’s diadem? The scouts have warned us about a fangirl named Weasley. The fae-connected Miss Lovegood will also get involved.”
The big one was unhappy. “Dumbledore still has Harry’s cloak. Sirius has told Harry about it. Will Harry take possession of it? The other Deathly Hallows could be revealed. Will Dumbledore get all obsessive about them?”
The slim one was happier. “Dumbledore is losing friends every week. Will he notice? Harry’s fan club is growing. What are they going to do when Harry’s story comes out?”
The tall one finished the first round. “Harry has collected a team of competent adults who aren’t impressed with Chief Weirdo Dumbledore. Will they hang together until the job is done? Will Harry survive increased pressure from Albus? The Dark Lord is contained, but his prison is made of thin glass. Will His Smokiness make another appearance?”
The big one spoke again. “We know who the ‘old friends’ are. Will they become a super-secret band of squibs? Are they going to organise the outcasts from the wizarding world who know a lot about magic? Will they help Harry? Are they happy with their exile from the wizarding world? Maybe they aren’t. Maybe they know too much.”
The little one was happier. “Sirius is safe at Blackmoor Park. Will he find a way back from wherever his mind has gone to hide? Will he get the help he needs?”
The slim one laughed. “Will Harry continue to entertain himself by terrifying Draco until he is a nervous wreck? It’s cruel, but it’s also a lot of fun. While on the subject of difficult people, what is it with Ronald? Will he always be an annoying prat? Harry has subverted the twins with bags of gold, but will anyone discover the hidden thing driving the antagonism from Ronald?”
The tall one said, “Harry has learned to smile, but he still has a long way to go on his path to healing. What of his growing band of admirers? Will they help or hinder him? What about Tom? Harry would be in deep trouble without him. Will Tom hang on until the end?”
The big one finished the meeting. “We can’t interfere more than we already have. We will review the situation again if we need to.”
