Kuba who just finished slaughtering the inhabitants of yet another shrine fell to the ground in front of the shrine's entrance. He was weeping and calling out his wife's name again.
He looked at his bloody hand and let out a loud laugh.
"I am going to make them pay for everything they have done to me." He says, still laughing.
He had completely lost it. One moment he is weeping, the next he is proud of himself for what he is doing and promising to get revenge for what happened to his family.
As he knelt there alone, a shadow clouds around him. He raised his head to see a lady in front of him. She had a hood covering her face and was dressed in all black.
Kuba held his hand down and looked away from the woman.
"Get away from me, please. If you don't leave I'll kill you" he begged
The lady stood there, watching him closely. She pulled down her hoodie to reveal her face. She had a mischievous and wicked smile on.
He let go of his hand and picked up his sword, launching forward to strike her, but the sword destroyed on impact with her body.
He fell to his knees, dumbstruck as he stared at the broken sword he was holding. He then raised his head to look at her standing over him.
"What are you?" He asked.
"I am a god, a fallen god might I say. I am Ivanile, the goddess of dark magic" she replied.
Hearing this, he picked up his sword even though it was broken, and attacked her again. But this time, a strong wave pushed him back and he went flying into the wall of the shrine behind him.
"Mortals…" she chuckled.
He got up and attacked her again, and the same thing happened. A wave threw him back. This time harder than the previous one. As he hit the wall and fell on the ground, a huge stone rolled down from the top of the shrine about to turn him into shreds. But Ivanile used her magic to stop the stone and toss it to the side away from him.
"Whatever you do is futile. No weapon can harm me or any of the Horizonians. At least the weapon you mortals use." She says.
He reached out for a piece of his shattered sword but she kicked it away.
"You are persistent. I like that about you."
He got up on his feet and threw a few weak punches at her that she effortlessly dodged.
After he got tired, he stopped and fell to the ground. But still tried to get back on his feet.
"You. You didn't protect my family. Where were you when someone was murdering them?" He questioned.
"Good question." She replied with a smile. "You see, I am no longer in the Horizon. So I can not answer to any mortals. Except those who have fallen into despair towards the Horizonians or those who seek me." She added.
"I have lived for millions of years alone waiting for someone to ask of me. But there was nothing. People seem to have forgotten me, they removed my statues from their shrines. The only place that still has a piece of me is on the horizon, but that too is about to come to an end. The gods think they have everything under control. But I have seen it. They have no idea what is coming for them. Calamity shall strike again, but this time ten times worse than what they have seen before" she finished.
She cleared her throat and turned to face Kuba who seemed to be lost. She walked up to him and knelt in front of him. Holding his jaw and tilting his head up. Her soft and tender touch alone made him close his eyes shut as he let it sink in.
"The gods have forsaken you as they did me. They've left you alone to suffer in agony as they did me. And now you've chosen to make them feel the same as they made you feel. But you don't know how. You are helpless and filled with rage and anger, just. Like. Me" she says, embracing him.
"But whatever happens to you, whatever you turn into… there's always that one person that will always be there for you. We are all we have, Kuba… we are the same" she whispered the last part in his ear before pulling away from him.
She stood up and walked close to the entrance of the shrine. He followed behind her.
"Why were you thrown out of the horizon?" He asked, curious.
She turned to him with a bitter smile on her face.
