Poetry. Not many people can find the beauty in poetry and its a shame really. Poetry is just like writing. Like writing is an escape, poetry is an escape. Just in a different form. Just so you know, poetry doesn't have to RHYME! It does not have to rhyme. I know many people think that, but it doesn't. Poetry can be just a string of words. Free-verse poetry. Loneliness
I don't even know how to say it
Explain it
Loneliness
Is like a dark cloud
That rains on you
Everyday
Loneliness
Is like a dark void
That never goes away
Loneliness
Feels like drowning
Drowning in deep water
Struggling to stay afloat
Loneliness
Feels like your drowning
Until someone saves you
When they leave you
Or hurt you
You start to drown again
Struggling to stay afloat
Your lifeline has disappeared
And left you to pick up the pieces
Drowning
You scream out for help
Yet no one hears you
Then someone new comes around
And pulls you out of the depths
Helping you stay afloat
Then they leave you too
And your drowning all over again
Loneliness
Is like a sick game
Of cat and mouse
Your the mouse
Loneliness is the cat
Every moment
Of everyday
Your running
Running away from the cat named loneliness
So you don’t succumb to it
Its like a never ending game
A never ending game
Full of drowning
And dark voids
Loneliness
Is something you never want to experience
Because it's a never ending game
That never goes away
See? This poem express emotion through words. It doesn't rhyme in the slightest, yet it expresses enough emotion to be a poem. So when you think about it, poetry isn't so hard once you learn that it doesn't have to rhyme and it can just be a flow of words with no reason yet it has one. Words are powerful things. You can create something great with just words. That's what I'm trying to say here. I was able to create something nice that I love with just words. Words. No rhyming, just words. I personally find free-verse poetry easier for me because I don't have to think. I can just do. I'm just saying to all the people who either think poetry is to hard to do, or to the people who don't exactly like it think of it this way. Poetry is a story. Just because it doesn't have chapters and dialogue doesn't mean it's not a story. It's still something that can strike a chord and can make you feel something just like a piece of literature can. As for the people who find it hard, it isn't. I used to think it was and I always thought I would never be able to do it myself. Check me out two and a half years later. I have over 45 poems in a book ready to publish and I'm already working on the sequel. Don't limit yourself. Try all forms of writing and find what's easier for you. And if you find that you still are not into poetry just find the satisfaction of trying something new. If you find out that you have a deep connection or passion for it, keep working hard and eventually you can have a whole arsenal of poems at your disposal.
Keep that in mind.
