I sigh as I make my way to the Great Hall for breakfast. As I'm walking there, I feel someone rush up to me.
“Hello Viven, I’m Jacob. Jacob Powers”
“Nice to meet you, Jacob. How can I help you?”
“I'm the Slytherin quidditch team captain and Jones, the prefect told me that you wanted to try for the team.”
“Oh yeah. I was wondering if that was possible?”
“It is. Can you come to our practice today? So I can see the team's thoughts too.”
“Sure. what time?”
“Practice starts after dinner so about 7 pm. It ends at 8 pm which usually we stay a little after if Snape allows us.” I nod and look over at him.
“Will I need anything? Like gear?”
“If you have any, that would be great.” I nod again. We soon reach the Great Hall. “I’ll see you at practice.”
“For sure,” I say while walking to the Slytherin table.
As I sit down I hear a cough from the Staff table. I look up and see my Godfather looking at me. He motions for me to come towards him. I obey, standing up and walking over.
“Yes, Godfather?” I ask sweetly.
“I would like for you to sit with us for all meals. No questions.” I nod and sit in the empty chair beside Albus. I looked to my right, which was where I saw Professor Snape sitting while looking at me.
“Good morning professor,” I said with a bright smile
“Smile any brighter and you might blind us Ms. Moonblood.” Professor Mcgonagall interrupts, noticing that Snape wasn’t going to answer. I giggle and turn to my plate. I push my waffles around as I look at my plate.
“I suggest you eat Ms. Moonblood.” I hear a deep voice say in a whisper. I look over and see Professor Snape looking at me. I muster a small smile and turn back to my food.
My Godfather then speaks, “Darling, would it be possible for you to help Severus brew more sleeping draughts. I know you will be needing them often so it would be best to help him stock up.” I nod while sipping on my juice. “Is that okay Severus?”
“I suppose.” He replies in a monotone voice.
“Good, you guys start tonight. Also Severus, could you please escort her to her dorms afterward?”
“If you insist, Sir.”
“Will that be necessary?” I interject, looking at my Godfather with questioning eyes.
“Yes Darling, it will be. And you know exactly why.” I sigh and look over to Snape.
“You don’t have to. I know you have better things to do.” I whisper while looking into his eyes.
“It's quite alright. I would rather have my students safe than them getting hurt.” I nod and look down at my lap.
“I am trying out for the quidditch team, Godfather,” I mention this while I look at the Slytherin table.
“That’s great Darling. What position do you want?”
“I wanna try for the seeker position.” He nods and smiles
“Just like your father. Your mother would attend every one of his matches.”
“Really?! They came to Hogwarts?”
“Yes, they did Viv. I grew to love them just as much as I love you. They kept in contact with me after they graduated and moved to North America. After a while of talking to them, I heard that I was going to be the Godfather of their beautiful daughter. Viven Amor Moonblood.” I smile and look over to my Godfather.
“Do you know why they made my middle name Amor?” He chuckles and nods.
“It’s a little memory they have from their last yeah here. Your father played a prank on her by giving her Amortentia. I had to help your father help cure her. She was so angry when she found out what the boy did. They ended up talking it over and fell in love, for real.” I giggle at the story and smile.
“That sounds wonderful, Albus.”
“It was wonderful. But now we must get you to your class. What do you have first?”
“I have transfiguration.” I pause, “If you're planning to take me, I won't allow it.”
“I am not taking you... Severus is.” My Godfather says, looking over at Professor Snape.
“When did we agree on this, Albus?” The potions master questioned deeply.
“Last night, after we had the talk about what happened before she came here.” Severus nods and stands.
“Very well... Let's go Ms. Moonblood.” I nod and stand, following close behind Snape.
As we walk down the corridors, I watch my feet thinking of what Albus said. Why would I need to be escorted if I came to Hogwarts to get away from him? Surely he wouldn’t be here. He wouldn’t think I would be in Scotland. I'm sure he would still be searching in North America for me. Looking for the person who was supposed to be ‘his’. I shivered at the thought of being with Voldemort.
As I was drowned in thought, I didn’t notice Snape stop. This caused me to collide with his strong back, making me fall.
“I suggest you watch where you are walking Ms. Moonblood.”
“Sorry, sir. I was thinking of something and wasn’t watching where I was going.”
“It’s fine Ms. Moonblood. Next time watch in front of you instead of staring at your feet.” I blush a deep red and look down.
“Sorry,” I whisper to the Professor. He stifles nods and points to the door. “Thank you, Professor Snape.” He sneered and walked away. I make my way into class, not entirely ready for all of this.
-Advanced Potions-
I make my way to the back and take a seat. The class is already full and we were just waiting for Professor Snape. Speaking of the dark man, he burst through the door.
“Welcome to Advanced Potions. While I am surprised to see all of you in this class, I must congratulate you for getting in.” He stops in the front of the room and turns, seeing me in the back of his classroom. “Today we will be making the Amortentia potion. The instructions are in your books, good luck.”
I smile, thinking of the story my Godfather had told me earlier that day. I get started on the potion, already having the ingredients needed, along with the oldest looking book in the cupboard. I open the book and see the words “This book is the property of the Half-blood Prince” on the inside cover. I shrug it off and turn to the right page.
As I looked at the page, it had many notes on how to correctly make the potion. I followed it quickly and smiled when I got it right. I raise my hand and smile brightly.
“Yes, Ms. Moondblood?” The deep, velvety voice droned out.
“I have finished, Professor.” He looks up quickly and swiftly glides his way over.
“Impressive Ms. Moonblood. You definitely belong in this class.” I smile wider.
“Thank you, sir. But I must be honest, I didn’t do it by myself. The book helped me immensely.” He looks at me questionably, picking up the book I used and opening it to the inside cover.
“I see... You must keep this book Ms.Moonblood.” I nod and stand to leave like everyone else. “Good luck with your tryouts Ms. Moonblood.”
“Thank you, Professor, and please call me Viven. Any friend of my Godfather can call me by my first name.”
“Very well Viven.” The Professor said, my name rolling off his tongue. I smile and walk to my dorm to get ready for dinner.
