They traveled a little way the next morning, coming up to a rather scary sight.
“The Cliffs of the Abdomes,” Alice said, as they all looked down at the churning waters below. They had to be hundreds of feet above the foaming sea, and every time a wave hit the jagged rocks below, the seafoam rose and lapped at the side of the cliff.
Richard let out a long, low whistle, saying “It’s a long way down,”
Skylar scoffed, “Ya think?”
Luke, however, backed away from the edge, steadying his breath as he tried to forget the staggering height.
“So how do we get a boat?” Peter finally asked.
“Zere is a fishing village not far from here,” Adalene explained, then called over to Alice, “Accompany me to ze village, please.” Alice turned and got up to follow, and before long they disappeared into the mist.

An hour passed, and they finally saw Alice and Adalene returning. But something was wrong.
“What’s…wrong with them?” Luke asked himself as he stood, and the others followed suit, squinting through the mist to try to see Alice and Adalene.
“Run! Run! They found us!” Alice shouted as they got closer. That was when Luke noticed the many dark figures behind them.
“They’re back,” he gasped.
Richard cursed and Peter began looking through their stuff to find the weapons. Helen comforted her horse, which was beginning to whinny and panic. Skylar readied her bo staff, putting her bow and quiver of arrows on her back. As Alice and Adalene made it to camp, Luke got a clear sight of the Dueglesteiners.
Boromir was leading them, of course, and there were about a dozen Dueglesteiners behind him.
“Well, well, well,” Boromir’s voice boomed over the flat and quiet landscape, “The gang is back together again! I believe we all love this reunion, don’t we? We have Luke, Skylar, Richard, Helen, Peter, and Alice,” Luke drew his sword and stood his ground, glaring at Boromir as he looked at each of them. “And who is this?” Boromir looked at Adalene, who had her two swords drawn, getting ready for the fight.
“More zan you can handle,” Adalene shouted back.
“Ah, an elf.” Boromir sneered, his smile growing on his face, “I have not met one of you in ages! Would you like to end up like the last one? Rotting at the bottom of a mountain?” Boromir laughed, spitting at Adalene’s feet. “You all are pathetic. Who would believe that the world’s fate was put in the hands of a few children? Maybe that is why you cannot get any kingdom on your side!”
Boromir turned his attention to Helen, “What’s the matter, princess? Did your father not want to help you? Did he kill your friend, Richard?” Richard’s mouth twitched, and Luke glanced over at him to see the sad look on his face.
“And you, elf,” Boromir looked back at Adalene, “Did you give up your throne to these children? Is that something your mother would’ve done?”
Adalene’s hands shook while they held her swords, seething as Boromir laughed at her, “How dare you speak of her zat vay, Dueglestein scum, you have no idea who you are dealing vith.”
Boromir continued to smile, and at last turned his attention to Luke and Skylar, both itching for battle. “You two had a little run-in with a witch, did you? And you killed her, Skylar! To be honest, I distinctly remember you saying something along the lines of ‘I’m not like you’ in our last meeting, correct? Guess that didn’t last.” Boromir sighed, pretending to seem disappointed in her.
“Oh well,” he continued, his crazed smile growing, “You will regret that soon enough, when you are brought to her feet, you will beg for forgiveness for killing her sister.”
“Who?” Luke joked, smiling at Boromir’s confused face, “Who is she, your mother?”
Boromir cleared his throat, drawing his scary sword. “Enough talk, let’s finish this, once and for all.”
Luke wanted to take on Boromir, but it was Skylar who ran at him first, using her speed and agility against the big and slow Boromir. She slid underneath him, kicking him in the back before he turned around and attacked her. Luke wanted to watch more, itching to help Skylar but one of the Dueglesteiner soldiers ran up to him, raising his sword.
Luke blocked the strike, jumping to the side as the Dueglesteiner jabbed at him, hitting only air.
Luke now aimed for the Dueglesteiner’s leg, slicing it open at the thigh, making the Dueglesteiner scream. The Dueglesteiner collapsed, clutching his bleeding leg. Luke knocked the Dueglesteiner out with the hilt of his sword. He muttered an apology to him before he moved on to another one which was attacking Helen, who had no weapon and instead was dodging each strike, her speed a great advantage against the Dueglesteiner. Luke blocked the Dueglesteiner’s sword, then began striking at the Dueglesteiner offensively, backing the soldier into the woods. Helen took the time to pick up a rock, throwing it at the Dueglesteiner’s head.
The Dueglesteiner crumpled to the ground.
“Great job, Helen,” Luke congratulated her, then ran over to where Skylar was fighting Boromir.
Despite being taller and stronger than her, Skylar was doing better than Boromir, who was slowly wearing out as he tried to catch her. Skylar was running this way and that, always just out of his reach.
Boromir roared, this time trying to hit Skylar’s bo staff head-on, pushing the two of them closer and closer to the cliffs.
Skylar tried desperately to block each blow, but Boromir’s strength began to weaken Skylar as his rage fueled him.
Desperate, Luke ran at Boromir, raising his sword and ready to strike. Boromir turned and blocked Luke’s sword, pushing Luke away from the two and to the ground.
Boromir struck his sword against Skylar, and this time she stumbled, falling on her back.
Boromir stood over her triumphantly, holding his sword above her midsection, and started to bring it down, ready to stab Skylar.
Luke thought it was over. That was it, Skylar was dead. But when Luke looked at Skylar, she had rolled over just in time, and Boromir’s sword was stuck deep in the ground. Luke and Boromir looked at Skylar in surprise.
As Boromir tried to pull his sword out of the ground, Skylar grabbed her bo staff and struck it against Boromir’s legs.
Boromir howled in pain, and Skylar stood up quickly, kicking him in the midsection.
The last Luke heard from Boromir was his pained scream as he stumbled off the cliff, as he plummeted into the depths below.
Skylar now turned to look at Luke, who got to his feet and began to walk over to her. She smiled at him, triumphant. In that moment, all Luke could think of was how beautiful her smile was, no matter how little it ever appeared on her face.
Luke breathed a sigh of relief. For a moment, he thought it was finally over. The nightmare had ended.
The moment didn’t last long. Right after he thought it was safe, the ground shook and the earth beneath Skylar’s feet began to crumble...
