I should have payed attention more. I should have asked more. I should have noticed. I should have at least tried to understand what he's going through. I should've .. I should've.. I should've...
I watched him stagger around. His face set in a smile that made my stomach turn. He was twirling the gun in his hand like he had used it a bunch of times before. I could feel Elizabeth trembling behind me, her sobs filling the air. I had pressed 911 before and was hoping they'd arrive soon.
"Can you just shut up for a second!" He screamed pointing the gun at me. Elizabeth's trembling intensified. I spread my arms more in order to shield her entire body.
"Move out of the way Laura." He speak, now more calmer than before. His sudden emotion change was starting to scare me. He was definitely not thinking in his right mind.
"No" I say defiantly. Anger flashed in his eyes before I heard the sound of the gun going off. I shut my eyes and prepared for the fall.
Nothing happened
I opened my eyes and saw a hole just a couple of inches to my right.
" Ah shoot. I missed." He flashed me a smile making my stomach churn with disgust.
What had he become?
"Laura move out of the way or I'll shot you both." He said in a sing song voice while once again twirling the gun in his hands.
"I said No!" I stood my ground challenging him to shoot.
He grinned showing his front row teeth. "Oh well, I guess you'll both die then." With that he started shooting while twirling. His hideous laughter filling the room. I was glad mom and dad were not home. I didn't want them to have to go through this.
What I hadn't noticed at the time was that Elizabeth had moved from behind me and was running towards the door.
"Elizabeth, NO! Get back behind me." I scream at her before crying out in pain as a bullet entered my shoulder.
He stopped and grinned towards her. "There you are!" He pointed the gun towards her. It seemed like it all happened in slow motion. The sound of the gun went off and I saw Elizabeth's body crumple to the ground.
"No" I shout making my way over to her. No.No.No NO
He shot her! He shot my twin. He shot my other half!
I turned towards him with more rage in my eyes than I could believe I had managed to muster. He kept on grinning and for a second I saw his eyes turn all black. I blinked and then it was gone.
I was beginning to lose consciousness from all the blood I had lost. Thankfully I heard the sirens outside. His eyes widened and he looked out the window.
"You bitch" He cried out staring at me. Running over to the window he got ready to jump. That was the last thing I saw before darkness consumed me.
It was reported no body was found near the house
My brother had been reported missing from that day on.
