Persona in passage #8
As they say, ‘you reap what you sow’ so I found a key from one of the little drawers that was on the cabinet surrounded by pictures.
I tried everything but all the doors are unlocked in the house. I believed on ‘Curiosity kills the cat’ story so I didn’t go too far as asking our neighbor if the object was theirs. An idea came to my mind as we – my sister and I – were silently scanning fashion magazine; then I immediately ran without a word towards one of the cars that my parents owned. I never had seen them use this vehicle since so this might be its starter. With shaky hands for no reasons, I slid the key in… and it didn’t fit; too much for being too hopeful in such a blaze and momentum.
Aries ran after me and flew these signs on my face, asking if I’m alright and what’s happening. I smiled and replied “Sorry, it won’t happened again” then I told her the details when we were settled comfortably on the couch. “I guess boredom is pushing me to my limits” I mumbled as I buried my head on a pillow – getting caught by sleep’s tight clutches. My younger sibling countered before I closed my eyes “I know what you feel. We’ll play later to get you out of it! Afterwards, you’ll be ok.” She was caring and positive; thank God it’s still a bit past noon. But there was something on her words that I can’t let go… it keeps repeating in my mind… making me recall something I have forgotten long ago. “Can you repeat what you said, I feel like I’ve heard it before.” I requested and opened my eyes just a bit. She did what I told her to but I made her skip some of the symbols “You’ll be ok?” Aries questioned if it was what I want. What she said had opened something within; it stopped my drowsiness and caused me to sit erect in one go “I heard those comforting words many years ago… but I can’t remember why, when and where exactly”. My sister sat closer to me and hugged me before confessing “You’ve been worked out lately. What’s with you?” the concern gleaming from her eyes are just too unnecessary that I have to avoid showing too much emotion to it “I know the summer is long and tiring but at least were not at school and doing nothing but the ‘essential’ they’re trying to force in our throats” she added and it made me laugh a little. Not long until I could find another lie to satisfy her worries, my younger sibling signed “Please don’t hide anything from me anymore. I can’t handle it that’s why I pushed you down the stairs.” I didn’t expect things to go this way. It was all sudden and true.
Persona in passage #22
It’s a miracle… it snowed today; but as always, I’m alone and helpless. I’m freezing by each second ‘Is this my death?’ It’s getting harder to breath ‘I wish this would be over now’ I was soaked but now my clothes have turned to ice ‘Please just a little warmth’ I begged for my fingers won’t move anymore. I closed my eyes, preparing for the end… when I heard a beep and my skin-tight suit loosen and loosen till I was sucked inside the clothing… It was steaming hot within and it cradled me to sleep.
I woke up naked and that’s ok since I’m still in the ball that was supposed to be my suit. I didn’t understand what happened and how can I get out of it but I wished this paradise won’t end just yet. As it was, it didn’t last long; it deflated and turned back what to its original form. But I didn’t lose hope to its utility for the edges of the white, untainted clothing continued glowing. Many marvelous things happened today and one of it is when the coldness ended after my sleep; I’m back to basic, it’s raining again but now, for some reason, I can’t get soaked.
My journey in the ruined utopia begins once more. I’m wearing a smile on my face now since I finally found the usefulness of the suit I woke up with. If I only knew how it worked, things would be easier but then, I still didn’t know what activated it. As I continued my stroll, I saw a black swirl afar; before it ruins my day, I went the other way around. Yet it was inescapable, another darkness was up ahead on the turn I took. I know I was wasting my energy on that path since the water was almost above my knee but I didn’t think it was a great problem until I went back and saw a swirl just a couple of centimeters next to me… are they following me? I panicked and jumped on the nearest debris to get away from their touch. As I kept skipping, I’ve noticed all the roads where packed with those spots. The place was not scattered with rubble well enough for me to continue my traveling to nowhere so I waited at a high place for them to leave, if possible.
Hours passed, the water rose and that’s when I realized it does flood in this world. Darkness have gathered around me… as if they were alive, were waiting for me to get caught. I thought it was just in my mind, the way they moved and surrounded the wreck where I was resting, but now that everything is darker than black bellow me, I don’t know what to do except tremble in fear. Just a little more, they could reach me the next minute and that was when I lose control of my emotions.
“NO! DON’T! PLEASE!”... I screamed in tears to the ruthless sky “STOP!”
“Can you relay to us what happened last yesterday exactly 10:40 in the morning Lieutenant Beitt.” A councilor from the Highest Court, a descendant of Daniel ordered “Commander Titus confessed, you forced your ways to the system; manually controlling the passages and devaluing the life of a vault zero resource.” He added.
“I didn’t expect him to react in such way, great elders.” She was on the floor kneeling at their presence; a sign of respect and begging not to terminate her “I just want to get the best out of him but it didn’t go as planned, instead I have found a threatening ability because of his diversity.” The officer from the legion of John wanted them to take the same interest for her acts to be legal again.
“And what would that be?” another councilor, a descendant of John the Baptist exemplified how they took the bait easily.
“He can control time and space and that is the reason why the systems will always have problems with him. I can show you the evidences.” She admitted without any second thought and handed her tablet. The councilors gestured not to take it “The organ that was supposed to be his heart was replaced with a singularity which could only mean he’s one of the unknown beasts of the void!” she defended.
“Watch your tone Lieutenant.” A descendant of Joseph commanded and it made her bow back “If your words are lies, we will exile you to the void and let the other wildlings feast on you but if ever this is the truth, we will let you do as you please with some restrictions such as taking a life for that is unforgivable in the sight of the Lord.” They made a deal that made the Lieutenant skip a beat while the Commander responded furiously.
“But elders! Can’t you consider what she had done in the past?” Titus knew where it was going and he suggested it might lead to something worse than shutting all the systems down for two devastating hours.
“We can only hope for the good fruits Commander. Now please leave the court for the decision has been made.” The guards lead them to the doors after those words.
