We held a memorial. Unable to have access to Shiegru's body, that was all we could do. We were frustrated, hurt, lost.
Times were moderately peaceful but knowing how things are around us, I knew it wasn't going to last. Unfortunately I was right. February 5th, we were all at the crib, except for Jessie, sitting in the living room when we heard knocking. "I'll check who it is." Aneesa stood up. "Hopefully not a Rox..." She mumbled .
"Doubt they'd knock." I said.
"You never know." She replied. She left for the gate and for a while we didn't hear anything from Aneesa.
"Should we check up on Neesa ?" asked Nate. Sha alongside Asad, Nate and I stood up and walked out the house towards the entrance. "Aneesa-" Two men and a woman in police attire stood at the gate in front of Aneesa.
"Sha, those cops want to get in..." spoke Aneesa, looking back at us.
"Can I help you, officers ?" Sha asked, placing herself next to Aneesa.
"We know she resides here. We're here to take her in." said one officer.
"Excuse me but I don't know who you're talking about ? Take who in?"
"Isabel Gomes. She's responsible for the murder of Harry Griffiths, lawyer of Naire Law Corporation." He elaborated.
" What the fuck ?" blurted out Nate.
"We ask that you please cooperate, if you don't want to be associated with her case as a murder accomplice." added the second officer, a bit younger.
"There's no way she'd do something like that." I whispered to Asad. He shook his head.
"She's been with us all this time, she hasn't murdered anyone !" Nate argued.
"Officers, I think there's a misunderstanding." Tanisha seconded.
"Please move aside." ordered the female cop.
"I'm not letting you in." She shoved Aneesa away from the gate's door and the three of them made their way inside the house, looking around the premises. I hurried to my friend, helping her get up.
"We don't know a Harry Griffiths ! This is a misunderstanding !" Tanisha repeated. They advanced towards the living room where Xav, Kyle and Izzy were. "Izzy tell them that you don't know a man like that."
Kyle stood up seeing the cops. "What's going on ?" He asked.
"Who are you talking about ?" added Izzy. Her eyes had worries in them as she shifted from the cops to Tanisha.
"Isabel Gomes. You're responsible for the murder of Harry Griffiths, lawyer of Naire Law Corporation." said the first officer.
"Izzy please clear this confusion..."
Izzy finally stood up. "Tanisha..."
"Don't worry, I know you're innocent. Just tell them."
"Tanisha. I do know him." revealed Isabel.
"What..."
"Take her in." The policewoman went behind her as the men guided her out, shoving to the side whoever came in their way.
"You didn't do it ! Tell 'em." Kyle dashed by Tanisha who stood rigid. Asad went after him to hold him back. The rest of us followed them outside. "Tell 'em what you told us. He abandoned you and you came back to the crib alone. Izzy !" Isabel stays silent as the officer handcuffs her and shove her into their vehicule. Tanisha made her way to where we stood. "Hey ! Hey, she's pregnant !" warns Kyle, trying to get out of Asad's grip. We watch as the car drives off, unable to do anything as Izzy looks down at her knees. Kyle curses under his breath as Asad lets him loose.
"Let's not stay out." Sha took a glance around the neighborhood before turning around walking back inside the gates. Naturally, we followed her and gradually made our way back inside.
"That doesn't make sense. He died years ago, why are they reopening the case ?" Xavier said.
"And why blame it on her..?" continued Aneesa.
Nate closed the door as he was the last one to enter. After doing so he paused while his eyes laid on the ground. "How'd you know 'bout her father dying?" Nate's eyes rose from the floor and stared at Xavier.
"What..."
"Is that really important right now ?" I sighed. Asad cut me off.
"Let him speak." he said firmly. Each one of our eyes aside from Nate's went towards him.
"How did you know?" repeated Nate in a stricter tone.
"Jessie." He chortled. "She told me." Nate rolled his eyes.
"Perfect alibi." he replied.
"Nate, why are you so focused on that ?" I asked. "That's not even important."
"It is." Asad began. "None of us have ever spoken to him about it. It's by letting things like these slip that you can get in the situation we are right now."
I stood in front of him, looking him dead in the eye. "Are you tryna say some' ?" I hissed. Aneesa pulled me back by my arm. I pulled my arm and went back to Asad. "You think there's a mole between us ?" I questioned. He looked down in my eyes impassively.
"I'm just expressing thoughts."
"Are you accusing Xavier of something?"
"Tamika enough." Tanisha spoke.
"No."
"No ?"
"Say what the fuck you have to say Asad !" I barked.
"Titi !" exclaimed Aneesa.
"Stop being so weak Tamika." He replied with the same expression. His brows were frowned but he didn't seem intimidated by me. I squinted my eyes while raising my arm and pulling back my balled up fist.
"Asad, stop." His sister demanded.
"I'll show you who's weak-" I challenged.
"Tamika King !" Our leader fumed. Our eyes turned to her. "Your Leader is speaking to you and you will obey my orders. The last thing we need right now is to be divided, you hear ? Both of y'all get away from each other." She ordered. I glanced at Asad before lowering my hand and walking away in a room. Aneesa followed me there.
"What the fuck was that for Tamika ?" She closed the door behind her.
"Why the fuck was he coming at me and Xavier for ?"
"It wasn't that deep ! If you even thought about it for a second you would've noticed it. Oh my gosh what's gotten into you !"
"Sha is always taking Asad's side !"
She placed her hand on her forehead. "Be for real right now." She sighed. The door opened and Xavier walked in.
"Am I bothering ?" He asked. I shook my head sideways while she shook hers up and down. "It's my fault-"
I shook my head. "No it's not-"
"Yes it is." Nate had now entered the room. "Y'all only fought because of him."
"Nate, why are you coming at him ?"
"Does honesty scare you ? Plus why do you speak for him?"
"Nate, stop. We shouldn't fight." Kyle advised as he walked into the room. Soon after Asad made his way in. Our eyes reverted to him. He stayed silent, taking a look at each one of us.
"Xavier." He finally spoke. "Did Jess really tell you about it ?"
"Fucking leave him alone !" I yelled.
He loomed closer. "I wasn't speaking to you." He replied, keeping his eyes on Xav.
"You tryna take it outside ?"
His eyes finally turned to me. "You wouldn't be able to fight me."
"Get the fuck away from each other !" Barked Tanisha as she barged into the room. We didn't look back at her but did as we were ordered. I could expect a long ass lecture from her at home. On the car ride back, Tanisha was silent. I took glimpses at her yet every time her eyes were focused on the road. We got home and she still hadn't said a word. "You're not speaking to me ?" I finally got the courage to ask.
"I already wasted my voice on you." She answered with annoyance. "What more can I say ?" She looked at me. "Is there something you want to hear from me ?"
"No." I mumbled.
"Then why ask !" She snapped. "You defended your boyfriend as if he was unable to do so. Yes, maybe Asad is scary, but to defend him like that is nonsense. Do you even know why you acted that way ?" She stared at me for a response. "I bet you don't. You disrespected your Leader's orders-."
"I'm sorry."
"And almost started a fight with my right hand."
"There you go again bringing him up."
"He's your superior." I sighed. "I get it. You love Xavier but don't be blinded by love, it won't get you far, Tamika. This part I'm saying as your sister." She concluded calmly.
"Is everything okay ?" Jessie walked into the living room. I looked down and Sha turned towards her. "What's happening ?"
"Izzy has been taken into custody for suspicion of murder." she explained.
"What..."
"Yeah, apparently she killed a guy named Harry Griffiths." Jessie covered her mouth. "You know him ?"
"No. Poor man."
"I swear I heard that name somewhere..." I mumbled to myself. Sha sighed and went into her room.
