"I don't get it," Lovage grumbles beside me as we walk down a well-worn dirt path. "Why are we entering this particular town? It's no different than any other one." I smile.
"So, the royal family, what happened to them?" I ask, and Lovage frowns at me.
"The royal family, barring Bergamot was murdered by their war general," She explains, sounding as if she had said all of this before. "There were no survivors."
"Are you sure?" I ask, and Lovage nods.
"I mean, there were rumors of a younger brother, who was visiting the former Duke and Duchess," Lovage says quietly. "But those were just rumors." She continues, crossing her arms.
"But, what if...he wasn't visiting the Duke and Duchess, but was in hiding instead? Tucked away in a sleepy village, safe from the bloodthirsty royal soldiers?" Lovage scoffs, disbelief written plainly on her face.
"That's impossible!" She shouts, drawing the attention of a curious elf boy. She glares at him, and he scurries off. Lowering her voice, she turns to me. "...Is he here? In this town?" I nod, and she scowls. "How do you know this?" She demands, and I shrug.308Please respect copyright.PENANASveMsJ6xwj
"I've got eyes everywhere," I reply. "Tell me, what is the young princeling's name?" Lovage leans closer to me, and I bend down to hear her whispers.
"Basil," She says quietly. "Basil was...is his name." Lovage turns away from me, storming into town, and I follow, catching up to her easily.
"How're we going to find him?" She asks, and I grin.
"Leave that to me." I reply.
