Now you see, whenever I wake up in the morning I always say to myself, “Make today an inspirational day!” But when I start doing something that I’ve built my motivation for and then it doesn’t end up the way I want to, I feel like giving up on it. I lose all my focus and confidence that I had given myself and it just.. disappears. I sit on my bed and wonder, “Why can’t I do it?” But then after sometime, everything seems to make a little bit of sense. Maybe it wasn’t my fault and I shouldn’t beat myself up for not trying hard enough to make the day go my way. Maybe it was not meant for today. I mean, stuff happens all the time. We can’t wake up everyday and make it seem like everyday is perfect. So I tell myself, it’s alright. We can keep trying and someday we’ll be able to get it right? Let me stop right here because as you’re reading this, you are probably getting bored. So let me introduce myself. I’m Alexis.
Alexis Everbree.
I’m sixteen years old. I go to Kennedy high-school where I have two best-friends and well sort of a crush too. Ah! I kind of hate having crushes though, they get annoying sometimes. But I can't help not having one either. It’s human nature after all.
Today is Monday, which means… SCHOOL! Why can’t it be Friday? I swear weekends go by so quickly and week days just feel like a drag. I blame the people who decided weekends being so close to Monday. It’s really unfair.
I woke up late. Ofcourse, because that’s exactly what I want. Listen to the taunting lectures of my teachers as soon as I enter my class. I love how my day started… not.
So, since everyone has a routine, I have mine too. Kind of? I just do what I want to do and there are a few changes now and then.
After I get ready, I go into the kitchen where my mom is usually making breakfast for me and my dad.
“Good morning sleepyhead!” Mom says as she sees me.
“Good morning mama!” I reply to her while rubbing my right eye.
Now is definitely not the time to have a proper breakfast since I’m already late to my class. I quickly grab a toast and some lunch money.
“Please try to wake up early next time, I am not satisfied with how little you eat in the morning Alex.” Mom sighs.
“Will do!” I say. Or so I hope.
I tell my dad who is already waiting for me in the hall-room if he can drop me off at school. He agrees and we get inside his car.
I usually go to school by myself as it's at a walking distance from my home but as for today I was too lazy and needed a ride. The number one con is also me being late.
My dad drops me off at school and I see one of my best-friends from the car window, Rachel Simon. She’s a natural redhead. Her eyes are a beautiful shade of green. She’s a really understanding person whom I trust. I really love her. We’ve been studying together since we were eight. Sharing the same school and class really made us close to each other. She always used to cheat me on the papers when I didn’t study for my tests and I did the same for her. Yes, we were quite the rebels back then.
We had a whole strategy for that kind of thing. Those days were bomb.
“Yo! Alexis! How are you?” She says as soon as she sees me walking towards the school gate.
“Hey! I’m good Rachel, uh nothing much just late today.” I tell her.
“Well, you’re not alone, my favorite brunette. I’m just as late as you are.” She winks.
