A: Hey! I'm back with the new chapter of The Lone Detective! In this chapter they investigate and solve Cedric Averil's murder. I'm not good at writing the investigation scenes themselves, so yeah... But I hope you enjoy!

The Lone Detective : Chapter 3, Cedric Averil
We arrived at the crime scene, where there were crowds of people already gathered. I had to squish through the crowds with Jude and Apollo to even get near, then we had to check in with IDs.
We got into the house and began to investigate. In most of the rooms, nothing seemed out of order. The only place that was in a bad state was Cedric's room, the place of the murder. The body was strewn on the bed, and there was some broken glass on the floor.
Apollo had doubled over at the sight of the body. Even though he had assisted me secretly in some cases, he had never helped with a murder. Obviously, he was not used to the grisly sight. Jude, on the other hand, had already started investigating. He was used to this, being my partner since a young age.
There weren't many clues, but there were just enough to solve the case. In all honesty, it was just an easy game to me.
There were the obvious things - the broken glass and Cedric's body. The body wasn't horribly mangled, only a clean shot through the head and a slit to the throat. I could tell that the slit was done more recently, and that the shot was the cause of death. The forensics report I received a bit later on confirmed this.
There were a few more things I could find after looking a little closer. In one of the closets, there was a roll of duct tape sitting there, mixed in with a lot of clothing. Under the bed was a black glove, tested positive for gunpowder. It's other pair was missing. I had ruled that out as an inconsistency, maybe the other glove truly was missing. Not all clues are truly clues anyways.
There were only two suspects, though one had an alibi, making this case easier than expected. The first was Lizelle Pace, his roommate and close friend. The other was Jacquelyn Morris, his neighbor, who apparently wasn't in the city at the time.
It all came easy to me.
Cedric worked until 5:oo P.M. on a normal basis, and the shot was heard around 4:20, meaning Cedric either took the day off, or had come home early. Lizelle was also home that time. Security cameras had recorded a feminine form dressed in black, walking through the house. There was no sign of break-in, meaning the murderer was let in by choice and/or had access to the house, which Lizelle obviously had. Jacquelyn wasn't home at that time, meaning there was only one person to point fingers at - Lizelle.
"But where's the murder weapon?" Apollo asked.
Jude answered and explained, "Simple. It's still on the person."
After the murder, Lizelle had duck-taped the gun to her body and changed into clothes that could conceal it. Once she had changed, Lizelle disposed of the black clothes used for murder and called the police. She should be in their custody right now, the gun on her body. That had explained the roll of duct tape in the closet.
I sighed, and checked over the clues one more time, to make sure I was right.
A few days, Lizelle was tried and we won. It was an easy case.
The only thing that bothered me was that when she was questioned about her motives, all she did was smile and say, "Despair."703Please respect copyright.PENANA8lhtkGWJVE

After the trial, Apollo and I decided to hang out. We went to our nearest fast food restaurant, because, why not?
I sat and watched as Apollo ate and finished all his food, then ate my leftovers. I wonder how such a small figure could intake so much food...
"I have a fast digestion system." He smiles.
"Did I say that out loud?" I grimace.
"No, it's because I read your mind," he trails off, I stare at him disapprovingly, "Actually, you did."
I hit him on the arm and he exclaims, "I've been shot!"
I giggle and he starts laughing, really loud. Soon, he gets so loud that I have to throw our food out and drag him outside, because people were looking at us.
"Imbecile!" I hit him once more, and start laughing, "We had to leave!"
"I'm sooo sorry, Master Julianne!" He calms down a bit, teasing me even more, "For compensation, shall we head to my house?"
I stay quiet, and he adds on, "Where I will cook for you a grand meal?"
I hit him again, this time on his head, "Fine..."
In the bus, I sit and stare out the window, thinking about how attached I've gotten to Apollo. All my life I've been alone, and then somehow, this new face comes along and changes all that. It's silly, really. He was like a stray puppy. On one hand, you wanted it, for all it's cuteness and company, but on the other hand, it would be a problem to you...
"Next stop, Madison Claire Avenue."
Apollo tapped my shoulder and brought me back to my senses, "Let's go, Julianne."
I shrug my thoughts off and head off the bus. Apollo leads me to his house, where he makes me a grilled cheese sandwich.
"So, this is my grand meal?"
"You know I can't really cook..."
"Apollo. It's burnt. You burnt a grilled cheese sandwich."
"I'm sorryyy."
I sigh, and take a bite into the sandwich.
I immediately regretted it.
"Apollo. Apollo. What poisons did you put in this?"
"It's that bad?"
"Yes."
Apollo throws the sandwich away, "Sorry."
"Now, what are you going to do in apology?"
...
Out of all the things I'd thought he would do, I never expected this.
An hour after the grilled cheese incident, Apollo had braided my hair.
And surprisingly, it was good.
"Do you like it?" He asked.
"Do you expect me to answer that?" I wasn't prepared to give up my dignity and admit that Apollo's braid was better than what I could ever do. No, I was definitely not prepared.
"Please?!" He was practically begging, "If you don't tell me, I won't be able to sleep tonight, knowing there's a chance Julianne hates me now."
"A chance?"
He sighs, "A very likely estimate that Julianne is coming to kill me in my sleep, especially after everything that happened today."
"Hmmm... Maybe." Apollo's stare penetrated mine.
"Fine. I find your skills belittling of what I already possess." Apollo stares at me more, as if asking for a less Julianne-like translation.
"You are most surprisingly better at braiding my hair than I am."
He looks relieved. I, on the other hand, am full of questions. How is he even so good at this? Does he always have a hair tie on him for occasions like this, and a ribbon no less?
"Well, it's not much to brag about." He blushes, "You know my younger sister, Diana. When she was younger, her favorite game to play with me was a competition to see who could braid our mother's hair better."
I was intrigued, "And what exactly was the result of these competitions?"
"Well, I was the older one, so I asked my mom if she would let me lose on purpose. Diana found out, and soon she gave me a reason to not lose on purpose. She worked so hard that I had to actually try to keep up with her."
"An expected reaction."
He smiles, "But your hair is so beautiful, Julianne. It's really smooth and silky. It's almost a crime for it not to be braided."
In spite of all the compliments, I couldn't help but say, "Did you develop a crush... On my hair?"
"No, no! Please don't say it like that," he blushes, "But really, it's true. You should braid your hair more."
"I'd rather not."
He smiles teasingly, "You know it's easier to admit that you can't braid than to go through this, you know?"
I blush and look away. Apollo laughs.
"You know... If you don't want to braid it yourself, I can do it for you."
"What?"
"Well," he looks away and blushes, "the competition is still on and I need more pract-"
"No."
His eyes turn into puppy's, begging me, "Please?" He adds on, unsurely, "To be a better brother, I, uh... Have to be a better braider."
Oh dear, Apollo. What poor thing has possessed you?
Instead of letting the conversation drag out, I agree, "Fine."
"Thank you!"
I sigh, preparing myself for the torture.703Please respect copyright.PENANAmnlgkemrOZ
