TW blood
"Theo..." I chided with him, longing for him to stay in the parking lot for a few more minutes.
"Why?" Theo smiled, his dark eyes looking into mine. "It's raining. We need to get home before the storm gets worse."
"Aww...please..." I pouted, tilting my head.
Theo laughed. "Look, I'm sorry, Daisy, but I don't want to get caught in this rain."
I sighed, starting out the car window as the rain pelted it with the water droplets that raced to the bottom of the glass. As Theo pulled out of the parking lot, I traced my finger across the tracks the raindrops made.
"Remember when we'd run around in our raincoats during a storm like this and jump in as many puddles as we could?" I asked Theo, looking over at him.
"Yeah," Theo chuckled, "And then we'd get sick the next day 'cause we caught a cold while out in the rain."
I laughed, reaching my hand over to his, as he clasped my cold hand in his warm one. "Those were the days," I sighed.
"They sure were," Theo now turned to look at me, his smile growing by the second.
He didn't see the car coming.
It came from the left, smashing into the driver's side door. We crashed and rolled off the road, landing in a ditch. I lost consciousness after the first roll, but I was later told that we rolled a good 30 feet.
When I woke up, I was a ways away from the totalled car. My head was throbbing and my arm was at a weird angle. I put my other hand up to my head, and as I pulled it away I saw the blood.
"Theo!" I shouted, my voice hoarse. "Theo!" I staggered towards the broken car, looking for Theo. That was when I found him.
"Theo," I gasped, running over to his body. He was unconscious, his body a mix of blood and bruises. His left leg was at an odd angle, just as my arm was. And his head...
I can't even describe it to you.
"Oh, Theo..." I knelt down next to him, clutching his uninjured side of his face in my hand. "Theo...I'm sorry..." the tears filled my eyes, and I rested my head on his chest.
"Theo...wake up, please..." I looked into his eyes that were staring at the sky. But he couldn't wake up. He never would again.
As I was overcome with despair, I put my lips to his own. One last time. I needed to kiss him one last time.
As I heard the sirens blare in the distance, I held onto his broken body, never wanting to let him go.
I wouldn't be able to grow up with him.
