The peaceful rest of king Ammar was broken by the door of his room being kicked in, in the middle of the night
His trusted friend, and his right hand, Summan, entered running, already an old man when Ammar was born, the hand of the king was pushing ninety years, with long eyebrows and a face full of wrinkles. Ammar knew right then that something horrible had happened
“My lord! My lord! Wake up! There are assassins in the castle!”
Ammar tripped with his sheathes as he was trying to get up. Assassins in the castle, did Noxus break the treaty ?, or was his people tired of the taxes and decided to hire someone to get rid of him?
“Speak old man, where are these assassins_ who send them_” Said Ammar while dressing up and setting his crown over his head.
“We don´t know my lord, we found three dead guards in the gardens, they were naked so we think the murderers are tryng to impersonate guards to get to you!.”
A good strategy, Ammar thought.
“So the assassins must be at least three men, of around middle age who are now trying to impersonate a guard of mine”
He grabbed his sword, he moved to get his patricide armor, those types of armor were capable of absorbing magic, a gift from the Demacians for years of trading.
Summan seemed to get even more nervous seeing Ammar getting close to the armor.
“My lord! There is no time” he grabbed Ammar by the arm, we must flee!”
Ammar let himself be pulled to the door before breaking free from the hold.
“Leave the castle and abandon my people, with murderers on the loose?! ” said Ammar starting to get angry
“My lord with all respect please hear my plea, if you die, the kingdom will fall! We need to get you out of the castle, then we can plan what to do.”
“If what you say is true, we can't really escape without being seen anyways!”
“Your grandfather builded tunnels below the castle in case we suffered a sige, here please Let me take you to the tunnels my lord!”
They left the king's room and started running through the hallways. Anxiety spiking at every door.
Ammar had heard the stories about assassins from noxus, capable of taking their own lives to kill their target. Would he be able to react if he had to fight such foes?
Suddenly something pushed Summan to the ground. It was a man with the yellow and black uniform of a guard
“My king run!” Summan screamed
The guard raised his sword over his head
“Die vermin!”
Ammar didn't intend to lose another friend that night. To the guard's surprise, Ammar dashed forward, sword at the ready. The guard tried to prepare for his new adversary but he moved too slowly, Ammar sword ran between his ribs and right in his heart. The guard fell against the wall, blood pouring for his mouth, and with the sword still clinging to his side.
“My king… cough dont…”
He didn’t finish the sentence , life leaving his breath before his words. Ammar offered a hand to Summan
“Thank you My lord… You saved my life”
Ammar stared at the dead body of the guard.
“This man, Harrist, was his name, he was not an impostor, has served me for years, how have they persuaded him to kill me?” He knelt and recovered his sword from the body, now full of blood.
“Money my lord, can make any man cuestion its morals.” Said Summan with a sad face
“But no more delays, my lord we are almost there!”
They reached a painting, in it a mountain reached the clouds and far beyond. A good representation of Mount Targon, home of the aspects.
“This is it my lord!” Said Summan pointing at the paint. Ammar stared confused as Summan started checking the sides of the framework.
“There has to be a button to activate it.” Summan whispered.
Footsteps of someone running when approaching from the hallway, Ammar freed his sword and took a fighting stance.
“Faster Summan!”
“Almost got it, almost got it…”
CLICK
With that little sound part of the painting detached from the wall, behind it a man made hole, pitch black.
“Follow me my lord!” Summan said, pulling from the king’s arm.
The moment they crossed the door, the painting got back in place, closing perfectly as if it was never open. Ammar heard the footsteps approach and stopped to listen making a sign with his finger to the hand to make sure he stayed quiet
“Where have they gone!”
“I swear the king was heading this way! I don’t understand!”
“Doesn't matter now, we gotta keep looking common!”
The footsteps got away, neither Ammar nor Summan had the courage to move until they made sure they were gone. Summan lit a candle, which bringed little to almost no light to the dark tunnel.
“You first my lord” said Summan signaling the tunnel
They advanced through the tunnels for what Ammar felt, had been hours till they finally reached before finally reaching a course of water, as they followed they reached an opening where the light of the sun was coming through. How much time had they passed on those damn tunnels?
They got out into the light, they found themselves overviewing plateaus of green grass, the little stream of water that they had followed gained strength in the distance, turning into a river, they had exited through the back of the castle Ammar realized.
Taking in the view Ammar finally allowed himself to relax for a brief moment.
“We made it, Summan , thank you, now we just need to get some hors-“
SCHLICK!
A piercing pain made its way through Ammar’s right side, as the hand removed his dagger the pain was made worse, Ammar fell to his knees. Water getting his legs wett. His hand whent instinctively to his wound, he was losing blood, lots of it by the color of the river, he felt himself shaking.
´´There were no assassins were there?” he whispered.
“There was but only one, fool”
Summan replied, any sense of education or respect lost in his voice
“After all this years serving me, why, you were like a father to me”
“Serve you? me? not in your wildest dreams child.”
Summan moved his hand in front of his face
The old man he knew for most of his life, turned into a young woman with blue hair, a long cane with floating crystals appeared in her hand, she dressed In black and gold, with a cape falling from her back to her heels.
A witch.
“That peace treaty of yours has lasted for too long. You really thought that you could play with both sides without repercussions? Trading both food to noxus and weapons to Demacia, quite a bold move I must admit.” Leblanc said throwing the dagger with which she stabbed him
“What.. did you do with Summan ”
He said every word was harder to pronounce than the other, the taste of blood in his mouth, he was dying he didn't need a doctor to know that.
“That old man?, he died 3 days ago, don´t worry it was faster than with you, with people so fragile it is like taking out a candle light” Leblanc smiled.
“The treaty…” he whispered
“The treaty was with you, with the king dead the country will be easily annexed by Noxus.”
Ammar wanted to curse her, to say something, but the words never came out, his breath left him and the world turned dark.
Hours later the body of the king was found in the river, floating head up, with his crown resting in his chest, a black rose resting inside it.
