I like to keep my life a secret but sometimes I have cool stories to tell, I like to keep this sense of anonymity to my presence here. So here’s the quick tales of how I’ve almost been kidnapped three times during my life. Note that these are going to be brief but it’s still fun to recount them.

I live in a relatively poor area, not extremely impoverished, between middle class and complete poverty. Let’s just say, not the best area to live in. Picture an eight year old boy walking home from elementary school. I’ve been walking home for about a month now since I do not live far away from school. It’s just a simple walk down the street and through the wash that connected neighborhoods.

Usually there’s no one walking during that time of day through the wash so I wasn’t very cautious. But that one time where I’m not very aware of my surroundings, there was this hooded man behind me that was following me. I turned around and saw the guy heading my way, he looked like the stock image of a stereotypical kidnapper. Immediately I bolted and ran for my life, he started the chase.

Still to this day I have no idea how I outran a fully grown man through a horse trail and onto a busy street, but thankfully I did. I don’t think I’ve ever felt that much fear before but I made it home in time. I never told my parents because for some reason, I still wanted to walk home even after the incident. Never saw the man again.

Next time was during middle school, eighth grade. The school, yet again, wasn’t very far away so I just walked home again. My friend usually joins me on the walks since he also lived close by. But on this day he was sick and I was left alone. Now, this isn’t like before where it was a very quiet area, this was a main street with a lot of cars.

One of those cars pulled over near the sidewalks and a woman rolled down the passenger side window and asked me if I wanted a ride. Knowing all of the stranger danger protocols I immediately declined and started to walk away. Then they slowly started to follow me and kept directly asking me again and again if I needed a ride. I ignored her and knew that I had to lose her so I sped up and started sprinting.

To throw her off where I live is to run up a random neighborhood to not reveal where I actually lived. Thankfully the street I chose connected to the wash where no cars could access, successfully throwing her off my trail. Though I was very paranoid that she would know where I live, thankfully that wasn’t the case.

Last one wasn’t really interesting but during freshman year I was walking down to get something to eat and this guy was following me for a little bit. He eventually lost interest and went away but I saw him again later in a KFC. Thankfully I just left and ate somewhere else, and I never saw that again.

Hope you enjoyed the small little look in my life, even though it wasn’t as interesting as you might think when you hear kidnapping stories. But hopefully it was at least a little entertaining. At the end of the day that is the main overall goal of my work, to entertain.
