I live in a small village and our only way of travelling is a bus. Normally only one bus passes through here, but today an unfamiliar bus made its stop.189Please respect copyright.PENANAx839RhN4eB
I was waiting in the rain as usual, the rain pattered on my umbrella. The bus was late, and the chilly weather was getting to me.
I could see the city in the distance. The village was up in the mountains, and the bus stop was the perfect spot to look at the city from above.
The blue and white glow made the city look ghostly. I always wanted to visit the place, but the bus only made trips around the village. Your only option was to walk.
A person sat down beside. It was my dear friend Akiho. "Good Morning, [Y/N]!"
"Akiho? Where are you headed this late at night?"
"I could ask you the same thing. My mother asked me to buy a few things at the market."
"Seriously? This late at night!"
"Your turn!"
"I just couldn't sleep. I was a bit stressed out, so I'm taking a bus ride to calm my nerves."
Akiho was my crush, but I was afraid if I told them that, they would turn me down saying it was too soon. After all, Akiho was a popular love interest in the village.
"Well, maybe visiting the market with me will help."
"Sure. I could probably buy something warm to eat."
"That's the spirit!" The bus came to a stop. I was too distracted by Akiho to even notice. We got on board and sat in the same seat together at the front.
"Hey, [Y/N]! Something seems a bit off. The bus was a different color than usual."
"That's not too strange. This might be their spare bus if the normal one broke down."
"R-Right. I'm sure that's the reason."
The bus started moving, and I looked at person sitting next to me. They were stiff as a mannequin. I knew a lot of people in this village, and I didn't recognize anyone on here.
The bus passed through a tunnel. "[Y/N], I can't see anything. Are you still in the same seat as me?"
"Yeah, I haven't moved at all."
As the bus came out the other end, we both were paralyzed. We seemed to be on a bus full of supernatural beings. There was a wide variety of demons, angels, spirits, and a few I couldn't explain easily.
Akiho and I were both still human. "Hey, are you humans?" a spirit behind us asked. "If you are, there is nothing to worry about. We are glad to see you."
"You won't kill us?" Akiho asked. "Heavens no, this is the Other Side, the dead doesn't get hungry."
"The dead, but there are-"
"Other beings? Yeah, they are dead as well. They just took a different shape, that's all."
"Can we return back to the real world?"
"If you mean The Surface, then yes. You just need to remain on the bus until it returns to your stop."
"[Y/N], do you trust them?"
"I'll give it a chance. Let's just admire the scenery for a while."
The world outside the window was dark, red, and everything seemed to be upside down. "Yeah, it's quite the sight! Right, Akiho?"
They didn't give a response. The bus came to a stop, dropping off all the dead passengers. "Well, let's hope that spirit was right." Akiho commented.
We were alone, and the only sound was the wheels bouncing on the path. "So, Akiho. Are we still going to the market?"
"Yes, of course. This is more exciting though."
"Oh, I thought you hated it."
"No, it kind of feels like I'm in a dream world or a fantasy world. I love it!"
We passed through another tunnel. The bus was on a white path above a starry sky. "This is so pretty! I think I can see Altair and Vega!"
"You know about constellations, Akiho?"
We ended up pointing out many different constellations as we passed them by. "I didn't know there was another stargazer in our village. We should stargaze together, [Y/N]!"
"Sure! I was hoping you would ask."
"Great! Then it's a date!"
"Wait, a date!"
Akiho laughed under their breath at my confusion. We finally reached The Surface and the bus stopped in front of the market. We got up from our seats and I asked the bus driver a question.
"Excuse me, but who are you and what is this bus?" The well dressed skeleton turned and answered my question.
"For the dead, I am the reaper; for the living, I am cupid. This bus is called 'Eden', because it's a paradise for all of those who climb inside.
"That's really weird."
"Of course it is, but you're not going to get anywhere if you're not a little weird."
With that, the driver closed the door. Akiho was waving at me in the distance. I watched as the bus drove off and vanished in thin air.
