A shifter called Soup and his human, Missy, live together up in the field of flowers.

With Missy now suspecting Soup's true form, their bond becomes rocky as Soup struggles to accept what that may mean for him and the life he has decided to lead away from society.

Refusing to give up on her, Soup chooses to turn a blind eye in the hope that life can continue as it did.

But when all seems like it is settling, a fierce storm rips through the lands and brings with it a new creature collapsed in the wildflowers.

With no identity, the lost creature is taken in and nestled into the home of two with the new name of Stew; with the hopes that someone will come forth to claim her.

Struggling with a whirlwind of energy around the calm home as the days go by, Stew only raises more questions about a shifter's life in a crueler world beyond the train tracks.

So, why does she want to return so desperately to it?

A shifter, shunning society as a human and living through his feral form, finds the light in humans again through a simple offering of soup and the kindness of a heart not wanting to give up on it.

Missy, a kind and daring young woman, lives alone up on the hill of wildflowers.

With ambitions of making it big, she sews dresses and feeds the shifter she affectionately calls Soup, believing it to be nothing more than a wild animal she can enjoy the company of and spill her stories to.

But strange things have been happening since Soup turned up.

Ingredients have been dropped into food packed away in the fridge. The house has been cleaned out of its disarray, and a single thistle has appeared in a bottle on the table.

As questions are raised, Soup must draw the line of what he believes should be reality and fantasy.

Paragon isn't the place where stars shine. It's not the happy team of glitter and gems smiling from every billboard and pop-up.

It's filled with trapped souls, wondering how they are able to break free from their contracts and return home again.

Avery performs for a living, aerial dancing above the crowds.

Adored as he spins in skimpy clothing and chains, he wonders what life is like beyond the freak show he can't escape, and if he'll ever feel the same freedom he expresses through dance every night.

Tawn impresses the crowds with his impossible acts of contortionism.

Tortured with starvation and shrouded extortion, he leaves behind his dignity to do whatever it takes to survive, wishing bitterly for another chance to get his revenge.

Nisha dazzles through death-defying stunts on the swinging chandelier.

Up in the shadows, he sees and hears all that goes on behind the closed curtains. Mangled into the perfect specimen, he stays silent so he doesn't end up like them.

Elgress works the bar, witnessing everyone at their most vulnerable.

Silently watching from the sidelines, she shimmers like a star herself; determined on seizing every opportunity to keep herself above homelessness.

The stars are all tarnished behind their gleem washed in spotlights; hybrids bent and broken to perform fetes no human ever could.

When they start cracking one by one, what will become of the prison they call home?

After Venom is fragmented, he finds himself having to leech off new, and old, hosts to survive as he tries to find his way back to Eddie.

Realising that a part of him is still inside Eddie, Venom now has to come to terms that another symbiote will be in their lives

With Eddie unknowingly harbouring the new alien as he continues his lonely life, and Venom fretting about what this could mean after the disastrous last time he had a piece of him split off, both of them must prepare for the inevitable when they are reunited.

But after all this time, are they even ready to raise another alien in a foreign human world?

Ready to discover her own way, Soup is entrusted with Sage and showing her what life has to offer beyond home; just enough so that it can tame her curiosities and she can leave wild fantasies behind her.

But, new dangers lurk in foreign lands. With the lights of guided spirits passing through the night, it's hard to resist the temptation to follow them and see what lays beyond.

Lost spirits are everywhere. Without direction, friend can quickly turn to foe; and the path to find what is lost seems impossible.

Even when it feels darkest, one wild light affectionately called 'Lasagne' shows up to help guide Soup and Sage onwards.

With their new friend, discovering the strange world together through thrilling experiences doesn't feel so frightening.

Soup starts to learn that it isn't so bad to let down his guard and lean into his inner child to enjoy the world around around him with Sage.

That is, until the lights beckon for him again...

This story is the full version of one created for an LGBT+ contest.

The year is 2030.

A new virus has been discovered, dubbed 'W3N.D1".

Spread through migratory birds, the virus eventually finds its way into the meat supply of the country where it takes hold, infecting hundreds of thousands.

It's not until the death of the first victim, an eight year old girl, when things are more serious than what was realised.

Underground meat markets push illegal supply of what is discovered to be butchered people infected with the virus.

Named "Wendi's", the virus distorts the bodies of the infected into those of horrifying creatures. Growing hordes are driven by the virus' need to spread and fortify against anything trying to kill it.

Now five years into being first discovered, W3N.D1 has caused the collapse of the economy and everything around it.

One man, refusing to live in such a broken world, deliberately infects himself to escape it all.

Now forced to live as one of the nightmares around him, he sees how life as a Wendi isn't the better solution he thought it would be.

In a wild world where fingers are considered currency, children are hunted for sport, and hides such as his bleached one are prized, this Wendi must rise up to protect what is his new life amongst the rebuilding dystopia.

When Beom-Seok desperately seeks change, it comes to him in the form of a harmless child's game from a travelling salesman who just wants to play Ddakji.

Picking the red tile seemed simple enough. But when Beom-Seok wins the game, he is promised a fresh start and new identity away from the watchful eyes of North Korea; as long as he can follow a few rules.

No-one must know his name or what he looks like. He is to follow every order given to him by his supervisors. He is not to harm the old man.

If he does this, a new life awaits him.

The orders are easy to follow, although a little odd. Beom-Seok finds himself thrown into a life as a Circle amongst hundreds of others wishing for the same promise of freedom. Only shapes define their importance in the halls and in preparation for the games the Numbers face to try and erase their crippling debts.

A Circle must follow its orders. A Number must survive each round. The old man is not to be harmed.
