Birdie is just a retail worker living an ordinary life when he finds himself in the boot of his own car; tied up and kidnapped.
Birdie find out his destiny of becoming a plaything when everything he has known is doused in fuel and set on fire.
However, the getaway driver of his kidnapping has other ideas. He wants to keep Birdie for himself and prevent him from escaping his tight clutch.
But after seeing the driver's true form when he is hunted down, Birdie doubts everything, and everyone, he has ever known.
With this monster manipulating him emotionally and physically, Birdie sees no way out of the soulless life he is expected to lead. Even when his name is stripped from him and replaced with a new one, the monster lingers; turning his own shred of identity against him.
Breaking free isn't easy when your life dangles in a twisted web of hierarchy and consequences. Death itself is the only way to start new in such a desolate place that refuses to let trapped souls go.
When spiders strip the skin from his bones and rebirth him into a family just like him, the old Soul now known as Phillius learns how to thrive and love amongst the monsters always watching and waiting.
