OK everyone! I am here with another contest!

Because of my poor health, I figured I would like to read what you think would happen next in my Soup story. Since I can't do long lengths of writing for now, reading is the next best thing!

For those who don't know, Soup is about a shifter who has rejected his human side but has fallen for a woman named Missy.

At the end of the story, it is undecided if they should be more than friends when Soup's identity is questioned.

Soup will gain a new little friend called Stew in the sequel. She is a little eight year old girl who Soup doesn't see eye-to-eye with at first. Like Soup, she remains in her shifter form identical to his (but way smaller)

I have my version of the story planned, but I want to know what you guys think will happen between Soup, Stew, and Missy before I write it 😁

Do they have an outting in the fields? Does Missy take them on a fun ride on her scooter? Maybe Stew gets into some mischief? Perhaps Soup brings back a dead animal, like a cat would for it's owner? 😂

I'm giving you a week to complete a story using the prompt below. It's as close as I could make it around Halloween 😅

THE PROMPT

You found a baby in your pumpkin patch that has a pumpkin for a head. No matter how much time goes by, the pumpkin doesn't rot.

It is now a child, but you realise that kids have been going missing and turning up dead with pumpkins on thier own heads. Halloween is approaching; the time of year the kids are murdered.

Your pumpkin-headed child has been changing with every Halloween. It's now got glowing eyes and steam coming out of its mouth. It looks frightening, and you begin to wonder if it's been killing the kids.

This contest is my first and is all about ORIGINAL monsters.

Nothing that already exists. I don't want to see werewolves, vampires, dragons, or anything already created in games or movies (looking at you Witcher!)

You can use the features of pre-existing animals (like cats whiskers,  bird wings, frogs pouches ect.) but it can't be the main feature.

A cat that glows or a dog that can fly isn't allowed. Get creative!

You could make a four legged and one-eyed sunflower beast, a snake with eyes down its body that has scales made of moss, a beast with as many legs as a centipede but is as fluffy as a cat.

The imagination is yours!

RULES:

* Create your own original monster and put it into a captivating story.

*Must be original. No already existing monsters allowed.

*I don't mind gore, violence, or swearing. Make it as interesting as you want!

*Put a rating beside your entry name so I know what to expect. This doesn't affect chances. Blood, gore and tonnes of swearing? Rate it R. Happy fields of adventure? Rate it G or PG.

*No 'monster love' of the sexual kind.  That'll be for another comp😉

Just thought up an interesting contest idea!

We are all familiar with the common tropes as in Rivals to Lovers, Forbidden Love, Chosen One, One bed trope, etc (you get the point.)

I thought it would be fun to see stories with those tropes reversed!

If youre still confused, worry not. Heres a list of tropes you can choose from if you wish.

(You can choose a different trope but kindly mention it in your story!)

Hiya! This is my first contest, so sorry if the description is a little weird. Regardless, though, I hope you have fun if you decide to enter!

Write me a story about someone blending in, but being found out by one of their peers! An example could be a werewolf trying to pass as human in high school, but one of their classmates walks in on them fighting a transformation. Another example could be someone of the LGBTQ+ community in the closet when a friend confronts them, a serious conversation about their identity following. This prompt is very vague on purpose, so there's lots of room for creativity and fun stuff. If you do have any questions about something, like, say you have an idea but you're not sure it fits the prompt, do shoot me a comment somewhere and we can talk about it.

Since I'll be the one judging these rather than letting the most likes decide the winner, here's some extra ideas if you want to really move me:

- Creativity! Do something unexpected with the prompt, or include a backstory with some original characters you've been drafting a backstory for!

- Emotion! I'm a sucker for works with lots of raw feeling, especially if there are dark themes.

- Big pictures! This one isn't as important as the others, but it's essentially commentating on problems in our society or some sort of generational trauma, something along those lines

- Effort! If I can see that you put lots of time and detail in your work, or you really put some thought into the prompt, I'll instantly fall in love with it...

Additionally, I'll be commenting on everyone's entries, so don't worry about me ignoring your writing. If you're hoping to receive criticism in your comment, be sure to add that in your entry, otherwise I'll assume you don't want any.
