Voices drift through my dreams. “I feel kind of bad waking her up; she looks so peaceful.” one says. “Good thing I have no problem with it,” I hear a second voice say, and I have three seconds to realize what that means before I feel paws shaking my shoulders and hear someone yelling in my ear, “KAIDA!! YOUR NAPTIME IS DONE!” I rip my eyes open, and Jex and Fahra stare down at me. “Jex!” I complain. “It’s too early” “No, it’s not,” he declares as he grabs my tail and pulls me off my extremely uncomfortable stone bed. “AWWW! You guys are so cute together,” A female dragon says, walking into the room. “No, we’re not,” I say as I scramble to my feet and go to the opposite side of the room, which is unfortunately way too small for my current circumstances. “I’m Amayla.” She says her pink scales are shimmering as she walks. “Me and Jex are old friends. He couldn’t stop talking about you yesterday.” She laughs, and both me and Jex turn pink. “You are here for a reason. What is that reason.” Jex blurts out before she can embarrass us anymore. “Well, Professor Jeckle sent me to show you around the place.” She warns. “What does that mean?” I ask. “That means you get to be shown around by two of the best guides,” Jex says with a smile. He walks over to me, wraps his tail around mine, and pulls me into the hallway.

One week later, Jex pulls me up staircases, through hallways, down staircases, and through some more hallways till we reach a stone arch. We have hung out a lot over the last week, and he has shown me every inch of the school. “Here we go,” Amayla says, and I turn around, not realizing she has followed us. He opens the large stone door, and when he pulls me inside, my jaw drops so low I swear it hits the floor. The room is bigger than I expected and is like a playground. It has fake trees, rocks, and miniature mountains. I can even see some hidden tunnels. Jex leads me over to a group of dragonets in a large circle. A bright yellow dragon with orange eyes and spikes flies over to the circle. “I am Professor Harster.” I will be your Fag teacher. Can someone tell me what Fag is?” he asks, his eyes sweeping over us, looking for a raised tail. “Yes, miss Namirah?” he calls, pointing his tail at a pale orange dragon. “It’s like tag,” She starts, “but if you get caught, you have to fight and whoever loses is the new It, so you can be It twice a row. Also, as an added challenge, you can’t fly.” She adds. I can’t see her face, but I feel like she is grinning. “That is correct, so everyone find a partner or a group of three and help each other put your harnesses on.” Professor Harster says, using his tail to point to a pile of orange harnesses. They are so bright they will make us stand out. “Don’t worry. I thought I would stand out Like a sore thumb the first time I saw them, but it turns out you can change their colors; you just have to focus,” Amayra says, appearing at my side. “Yeah, watch this,” Jex exclaims, racing over to the pile of harnesses and dragging three out. He fumbles with one successfully getting the first half on and then getting completely tangled as he tries to get the second half on. Amayra leans towards me, “This is why we need partners, to stop dufus’ like him from busting them all.” she whispers as Jex yells for us. “We’re coming, we’re coming,” I say, racing over to help untangle him. It takes us a couple minutes, but he is finally harness-free. “Man, I really thought I could get it this time,” he exclaims, grinning. “How do we…” I trail off, holding the harness with my shiny purple and blue tail. “Here, let me help you,” Jex says, walking over and placing it on the ground. He moves it around till there are four large holes. I put my feet in, and he grabs one side with his teeth and the other with his tail. Pulling it up, he uses the straps to secure my wings and pulls it tight, so it won’t fall off. “Woah.” I gasp. “This feels so weird.” Jex grins. “I know, right? Can you help me with mine,” he asks. “Sure,” I answer, padding over to him. He already has his feet in the holes, so I don’t have to figure out how to find those. I grab the straps on his left side with my teeth and reach over his back, trying to get the other straps with my tail. I hadn’t realized this, but he was much taller than me, so my tail did not reach the ground. Here he said, bending down. When I still couldn’t reach them, he didn’t laugh. He just picked up the straps with his tail and handed them to me. “Thanks,” I say, blushing as I tighten the straps. “No, you made them too tight! I’m going to die,” Jex exclaims, and I fumble, trying to undo the straps. He falls to the side and makes my paws drop out from under me with a sweep of his tail. After standing back up, I first think, “I’ve killed him,” until I realize he and Amayla are laughing. “No, they’re fine,” he says, standing up and brushing the dust off with his tail. “Watch,” he says. “You need to focus and then…” he trails off as his harness turns periwinkle blue. “Now I look like you,” he exclaimed with a wink. “He always does that dying thing to everyone,” Amayra says, rolling her eyes. “He’s so dramatic,” I help her into her harness. “Did you know your eyes start sparkling every time you look at him,” Amayra observed, smirking as he walks away toward some of the other dragonets. “They do not,” I argue, praying it isn’t true. She snickered. “If you say so,” I finished tightening her straps, and we walk back over to the circle with the rest of the class. “Ok!” Professor Harster shouts over the excited whispers of dragonets. “The It will be picked he says, and Amayla whispers to me, “This part is so cool.” The room darkens and so do our harnesses turn off. Then they start flashing one second, they are black, then silver. They stop blinking, and all go dark except for one; it’s not someone I know, and they don’t seem disappointed. Professor Harster counts to three, and all the dragonets run away.
