The sun was to set at that point. Ian got out of the store and found his 'teammates' from before, all cornering him into the store. They all looked bruised and furious, far more furious than they usually looked. Ian was stuck in a cold sweat, until Joseph came out of the mob, the most furious of the bunch. Ian tried to step out of the view, but Joseph grabbed him by the shoulder. 300Please respect copyright.PENANArolR8FGs5I
"YOU! You're the guy that abandoned us in the middle of the fight without an easy way to get in! We had to fight for so long and only got here because the barriers randomly shut down!" 300Please respect copyright.PENANALgvkfIBK6F
Ian, building up with nervousness, said without thought, "well, I mean you got in anyway so win-win, right?"300Please respect copyright.PENANACDJ3Oz4fMo
Joseph looked even more red now, and Ian wished he had kept his mouth shut like he used to. Joseph ignored him and simply shouted, "GET HIM! DEAD OR ALIVE!" 300Please respect copyright.PENANASZ1GEHNP5e
Now the whole mob was after Ian. This was the perfect time to use his cooled down boots in full force. He quickly tapped his boots twice and whizzed out of sight, while an angry mob desperately chased after him.
He inferred that the entrance he came from was open, so he took a U-turn to go through the same path home. In going through the path, he alerted the same drones that were after him previously. So now, practically everyone and everything was after him. Dodging the lasers as well as the many bullets from the mob, Ian got out of that silver hell and to the deserted plateau. 300Please respect copyright.PENANAFTr451rqXb
Rushing so fast, the wind he carried with him blew many of the tents and much of the scrap into his path, so now he had to dodge all of that. He was lucky in dodging most things, until a piece of scrap buried in the ground tripped him extremely badly, making him roll into a face plant. He winced in pain and then realized one of his eyes, digital eyes to help him see, was malfunctioning. 300Please respect copyright.PENANAQZNbuaV7gf
So now he had to move at a high speed while having half vision. He could hear the mob's shouts and stomps getting louder and louder, meaning he had no choice but to continue forward. It was bad enough that he had a broken eye, but soon after, his shoes started to slow down their speed while he was just exiting the plateau. They were out of battery. It may have been a small distance to his home now, or at least he hoped because he never calculated the actual distance while he used his boots; he still had to run as fast as humanly possible to outrun the projectiles, let alone the mob.
He ran desperately in order to arrive on time. He did not care how much pain he was feeling, he had to get away from this mess fast. The mob was slowly but surely reaching him, the punchy gunshots and high-pitched noises of lasers firing increased in frequency. It was an excruciating two minutes of endless running, while the mob was only tens of meters of length away from him.
He finally saw his cave in the distance, but his heart sank to the stomach when he remembered all of the barriers in place. Even though he was so close, he was so far away. He ran even faster so he could save time for all of the pointless scans and calibrations he set up. 300Please respect copyright.PENANAWq1AjSByEE
Beyond desperately, he placed his thumb for one field, his index for the second, his middle for the third, his tongue for the fourth and so on, all while shouting his full name as clearly as possible for the voice detector. After the final security check, the mob was probably only at an arm's length away from him as he rushed inside to hit a button, reactivating the field and blocking everyone else.
All he could at this point was drop onto the ground unbelievably exhausted, safe from all trouble while the mob kept shouting, hurling curses and trying to attack down the field.
