Monday, September 5th, 2023, Carmen René Memorial School started a new school year. It was day when Chail, a 15-year-old. He felt upset about a situation that had occurred that morning involving a girl he considered to be a bit rebellious.
Feeling the need to apologize to the girl, Chail was unsure of how to approach the situation, which made him feel anxious. He noticed the boyish girl engaging in a conversation with another girl nearby. "Mia, do you watch drama TV?" the girl asked the hoyden girl. Overhearing their conversation, Chail silently noted, "So her name is Mia."
However, Chail found himself at a loss for how to apologize to Mia. (Approaching her seems risky;) "what if she reacts negatively?" Frustration bubbled within him as his thoughts raced like cars on a track. (Why am I so nervous? It's not as if I'm confessing a sin,) Chail pondered. Suddenly, a lightbulb moment illuminated his mind. He resolved to write Mia an apology letter.
Chail quietly composed the apology letter and, upon completing it, subtly motioned to the girl Mia was with. Catching his signal, she approached him. He instructed her to deliver the letter to Mia, as he believed it would likely resolve the misunderstanding. To his surprise, she initially wore a vacant expression, but it quickly turned into a smug grin. Nevertheless, she complied with his request.
After discovering the sender of the letter, the girl couldn't help but giggle. Observing the other girl's behavior, Mia impulsively jumped to the conclusion that the letter must be a love letter, and without even glancing at its contents, she began tearing it up. Chail couldn't help but wonder, (Why would you do that?)
Stay Hidden
Chail walked through the school hall, wearing a frustrated expression on his face. All he wanted was to improve things with the tomboyish girl, but somehow, he ended up making it even worse.
A ball slowly rolled its way towards him, effortlessly tapping into Chail's right shoe and grabbing his focus. (Why is there a ball at school? It's against the rules to have one here. It reminds me of the ball I used to play cricket with when I was younger, my dad and I would play all the time.) Despite having no immediate need for it, he decided to pick it up. Unexpectedly, the stranger standing in front of him in the hallway spoke up, "Hey, can I have my ball back?"
Despite not knowing the stranger's name, Chail still recognized their face and voice. It was the same boy from the auditorium who had gotten him into trouble with the hoyden girl. "Throw the ball to me," the boy said to Chail. However, he grew more annoyed (Do you really think we know each other?) he thought to himself. It was because of this boy that Chail had made an enemy on his very first day of school.
With a firm grasp on the ball, he muttered to himself, "I hope you never graduate," before launching it towards the boy. Swiftly soaring through the air, the ball zoomed over the boy's head, leaving him unable to catch it.
Chail felt a bit embarrassed by his poor throwing skills, as he had hoped the boy would catch the ball, but it didn't happen. The embarrassment was so strong that it washed away his anger.
As Chail watched the boy's back, it was clear that he was completely absorbed in the teacher's presence down the hallway. Chail couldn't help but wonder, (What's going on with him? Is he really not going to apologize for what happened earlier?) Despite wanting to address the situation, the boy swiftly sprinted off in the opposite direction of the teacher, leaving Chail unable to confront him.
Confused by the boy's sudden rush, Chail couldn't help but wonder why he was in such a hurry. Nevertheless, Chail decided to follow the boy, his curiosity getting the better of him.350Please respect copyright.PENANAfUklPx3DVv
Despite not being naturally athletic, Chail made a valiant effort to match the increasing speed of the boy ahead, determined to keep up with him.
While they were running, the boy quickly shielded his face by crossing his arms in an X shape, just like a reflex. Chail, still confused about why they were sprinting, copied the gesture. A faint "eyyy" noise came from the other end of the hallway, where they were, but they ignored it. Chail couldn't help but wonder, (What was that? Please let it be nothing serious.) Not knowing where the sound came from or what it meant, Chail and the boy hurriedly left the area.350Please respect copyright.PENANAPr8S1yvsH8
