Fiona stood outside the auction house, her heart pounding with excitement. She had never been to one of these events before, but she had spent a good sum of money researching where her parents had sold their daughter. Determined to make her dream a reality, she had saved up extra to bid just in case.
As she entered the gigantic room, she took a look around, checking the naked bodies on display. Some were being paraded around on leashes, others were tied up and gagged, others caged. It was evident which ones had been trained into submission and which had not, their prices reflecting this distinction.
Fiona felt a thrill run through her as she surveyed the room, her eyes finally landing on a small figure huddled in the corner.
It was Bella. Her own sister. Fiona’s heart soared. ‘Finally’ she thought.
She was about to buy her own flesh and blood as a slave.
Bella looked up as Fiona approached, her eyes filled with fear and confusion.
Bella couldn’t recognize the mysterious woman in front of her.
The woman’s face was unfamiliar to her, even though she felt a strange connection to her. She watched in horror as the woman slowly pulled down her mask, revealing a cruel smile. “Soon you’ll be mine, sis,” she said, her voice cold and emotionless. “You’ll obey me without question or hesitation, and you won’t leave my side ever again.” Her words chilled Bella to the bone. Bella gasped as she recognized the woman. It was her long-lost sister who had disappeared without a trace years ago. But how could this be?
Fiona stared at Bella with cold eyes. She could see the resentment and confusion in her sister’s eyes, but she refused to let it show on her face. She had to maintain her authority if she was going to make this work.
Bella felt a surge of anger mixed with disbelief. How could she be so cold and indifferent? They were sisters, once inseparable, until she left home one day without a word, never coming into contact again.
Bella had gone through so much agony, loss and hardship with her family. She was the one who wept every day for her vanished sister, assuming she was dead. And now, after all these years, they crossed paths again in this unexpected place, and this was all she had to say? It was heartbreaking.
Bella opened her mouth in desperation. She had so much to say and ask, about to scream all she had in her heart at the brink of tears. But right before she could utter a word Fiona raised her hand and struck her across the face. The sound of the slap echoed through the room, and several of the other buyers turned to watch. Bella was dumbfounded.
“You’re not supposed to speak without permission,” Fiona snarled, her voice low and threatening. “Looks like I won’t be spending as much money as I thought.” Implying Bella hasn’t been trained properly, this comment making one of the organizers furious with Bella and reprimanded her.
He yelled at her, warning her not to speak again. Bella nodded, tears streaming down her face. Fiona could see the confusion and pain on her sister’s face, but she pushed those thoughts aside and walked away getting ready for the start of the auctions.
Sitting in the front row, Fiona’s heart raced with anticipation. This was the moment she had been waiting for since she learned about what had happened to her family. And now, she finally had the chance to own her very own sister.
The auctioneer began to call out the names of the slaves. The throng of bidders were loud. Her eyes, scanning the platform as one slave after another was paraded before the crowd.
Fiona watched as each walked down the runway, some trained and acting eager, some assisted and restrained. Their bodies on display for the bidders to examine. But none of them caught Fiona’s eye, she was there for one purpose alone: to secure her sister, Bella.
As the auctioneer’s voice droned on, Fiona’s heart raced again. Finally, the moment she had been waiting for arrived. Bella, looking frail and frightened, was led onto the stage.
The bidding began, and Fiona wasted no time in making her presence known. She confidently raised her paddle, determined to outbid any potential competitors. At first, everything seemed to be going smoothly, with no one else competing for her. But then, to her surprise and frustration, another bidder entered the fray.
Fiona’s instincts told her that something was off. Bella had no intrinsic value that would justify the escalating bids. As the price soared, Fiona realized that she was being played. The owner of House Beziade, had likely planted the rival bidder to squeeze as much money from her as possible. They must have learned of Bella’s importance to Fiona through Dania’s earlier request to add Bella in today’s auction even though she was unsuitable. With such a specific request, it wasn’t surprising for this to happen. ‘That sly bastard...’ she thought.
Fiona felt a surge of anger, but she did not let it distract her. She kept raising her offer, her resolve unshaken. The bidding war escalated, until at last, the rival bidder backed down. Fiona had won, but at a staggering cost.
“And it goes to ‘Melinka’! Congratulations!” The auctioneer called out her underground nickname, and Fiona felt a rush of excitement as Bella was brought over to her.
The auctioneer gave her a smug grin as he handed over the papers. “You’ve made a fine choice, Miss,” he said. “She’s a rare gem!” He was lying, of course. Bella had her freedom taken no more than 2 weeks ago, which meant she was hardly worth anything in the slave market.
As she claimed her sister, Fiona’s mind raced with thoughts of retribution. House Beziade had exploited her craving for Bella, and they would pay dearly for their treachery. As she led Bella away from the auction house, Fiona vowed that she would take her revenge at a later time. She already had her hands full at the moment.
Fiona handed over the payment for Bella and signed all the necessary paperwork. Her heart pounded with anticipation as she led her new acquisition out of the auction house and into one of the waiting carriages.
The corners of Fiona’s mouth twisted into a scary smirk that she couldn’t hide, eager to begin her new life as a slave owner.
