Hmm, another day. Feeling depressed again, yet somehow this time, much worse?, Dale thought to himself after tying his shoes. He stood up, looked around waiting as he's spinning the house keys with his fingers. Dale is an ordinary guy with black hair. His eyebrows both normally frowned.
While Dale slowly walking around in front of their house, a girl, his little sister Myric came out of the house rushing while holding her shoes almost worn by her feet in order to completely wear them. She's one that seems innocent with her normal looking eyebrows. She has black hair with a hint of blue. Similar to his brother, they both have some rough skin all around their arms, calluses on their hands.
Dale locked then the door and said, "Think we could walk? Wanna save some...", He raised eyebrows looking at her saying, "money...right?"
"Isn't that what you want anyways? To save money?", she said
They walked planning to go to school, though it may seem far, for they would have to pass through a town with some farm beside its road and a river with rocks to skip on, such a path is still short though or could be for them.
Mother and father won't like this, but its better than having them hide their stress over money, though it'd go bad if they find this out..., Dale thought.
"Next time you can join them but don't buy anything"
"What! That's too much, we're already just walking"
"Then next time, get your meal at school before going to the mall"
"Oh come on..."
"Or! Just save money"
"Ok fine… I know I could’ve done it just once"
For she had ate food in and from the mall not just once but for three days, very expensive, mostly due to her friends' influence
The mood turned bad but both understand each other, admitting that both of them have done something wrong to each other in their heads. Myric hated Dale but as they walked further from their house, she came to her senses no longer frowned.
The farm beside them as they walk gave them a fresh breeze, this wind gave Myric a mind that could let her hear her own footsteps, her own breathing as she focused on the beauty of all the wheat together with its water, all these beside the road. They both calmed down as fights are normal to siblings.
Myric quickly took a look up to his brother and looks right down on the ground
"Our teacher actually the other day told us..."
Myric softly breathes before she continues
"that magic was not, until about a hundred years ago, and of course I don't know when exactly that is"
He looked away sighing, his common response to hearing another witty story from her little sister.
Myric continued, "She told us that monsters appeared at that time and an exceedingly powerful magician could be behind all of the disaster"
"Hmm somehow you're interested"
"No not really but it's more like it’s just scary… the way our teacher told us about it. Eight years ago… something similar happened right?"
Dale contracting his eyes glazed over at the school as they were coming closer, and breathes heavily as he looked on the road straight ahead.
"Similar... yes, but that of 8 years ago was much less. It only covered this land"
"I'm sorry, there's just a reason they called him that..."
Myric grins as she slowly looks up to Dale and whispered, "Are you still traumatized?"
"You know that's now how you help a person with that"
She then went on to her school waving at his older brother while he continued to walk to his.
It seems to be a normal day, but I'm quite confused as to what I'm feeling, he thought, spacing out as he hears the water splashes in each of his steps clearly. And at some point, he was sweating. Focus? Yeah but not right now, he reminded himself
Inside the classroom with some familiar faces from the last school year, there was only one seat not taken, beside a girl, a transferee. She was already talking to the other students, others that he had seen before. Her voice so thin made her seem more talkative, with her eyes openly faced at the one currently beside her. After he seated, she immediately talked to him.
"What magic can you do?"
"Well, disappointingly, it's wind"
"Disappointingly? Why?"
"Fire would be great for battle, wouldn't it?"
"Yeah? but with wind… you can fly right?" She smiles
"Oh, guess I have a new dream"
She laughs saying, "No seriously, it is difficult but still possible, with wind you can be like superman, you have a really cool magic"
“meh” Dale looked away with raised eyebrows.
“hmmm… I mean yeah honestly, I thought you seem strong”
Their teacher came in and everyone was quiet, not like they were any noisier before. He introduced himself and asked everyone to do the same
It is just a normal day at school for Dale or so it seems. He looked outside the window, this third floor is actually up high, I could see. But everything is oddly calm today... odd? Why would it be odd? He stared at the window while listening to their introductions.
The girl beside him never said who she was, not until she came in front of the class. “You can call me Kairli, I’m 16 years old, my favorite food is…”.
All became dull, Dale's ears ringing as he saw something in front of him, no longer hearing the ruckus surrounding him. A dark furred creature of what seems a werewolf towering in between buildings, expanding as it stands taller and taller with fumes surrounding. He lowered his eyebrows staring deep into the dimmed city as the wisps of smoke broaden and the monster itself enlarging before finally widening his eyes.
"Uh sir!?", A student spoke raising his hand and then points at the window, "You guys see that?"
Their bodies shivered and everyone looked and saw the large shockwave appearing beneath the unknown creature. The blast wave got bigger and came closer, Dale shouted,
"Everyone, duck!"
He ducked down and hid under his seat while Kairli in front of the class hid under the teacher’s table but only after some time that everyone tries the same but the ground shook more, preventing them. The windows shattered, their bodies shivered heavily as the cracks of the surrounding walls hit their ears.
Rubbles fell in their room, more blasts came, and their ears rang more, nobody could hear themselves screaming. Explosion after explosion came to them while debris already falling to some of the students.
"What happened a hundred years ago was in a very large scale. The powerful magician conquered the whole world. But eight years ago, no such magician appeared", he said to Myric while they were walking together.
Everyone in the class shivered, shaking for the roar of the unknown creature hit them. Howls of pain, people screaming out of their lungs crying for help all just in front of them, outside the shattered windows.
"Help!", A student cried in their room, trapped in debris but Dale quickly ran out of their classroom, students looked at him with their eyes pulled up together as they came to the student that's crying. Kairli with the others looked onto him breathing heavily, “Oy!”.
"Everyone, don't panic! it is much safer here for now! That is… Until you all calm down", the teacher said, and the rest stayed and nods,
"What the hell was that?"
Dale came about running down the stairs while everything shaking and Dale coughing as he goes. Debris still kept falling and blasts occurred pushing Dale back and forth as he rushes. Not again... not this time, focus focus, don’t get hit by just pebbles, this he kept saying to himself while the rush, undaunted of the blood gushing out from his scratches of slips and hits of debris.
As he neared the first floor’s hallway, the blasting wind of the closest shockwave blew him away, slipping him as his hands slid across the floor, when he then was carried off all the way to the end of the hall, screaming, "DAMN IT! PLEASE!" all while his face is stretched out of off the gale, his teeth shown separated from his lips and his whole body slammed at the very end’s wall.
