Warning: some gore, unfortunate happenings to humans in the chapter, watch out for the whole story will have the same
“Pop… pop”, sounds of rocks Dale hears in his daze. He wakes up waving his head off of dusts and held onto the wall standing. Immediately, he ran with his eyes sharpened as he came through the hallway straight out of the school.
Outside, blasts still occurring but ones that are not hitting close to his way. He ran on the path of the road towards the school his little sister is supposed to be on with his eyes completely wandering around, sharp as he kept thinking the same word, “focus”. The road straight ahead had no people anywhere, no screams, no sound of steps, only that of blasts and beams of magic all around.
“their class should be over before all that happened, I can’t assume she’s still there”, but where would she go to?. Blasts and clashes of metals, the sound going all around as he ran. Only when beside the school Myric was supposed to be in, some faint sounds of murmur caught on to Dale.
Mumblings and steps joined in on the sounds of blasts, and a large magical barrier covering the whole school. A transparent magical sphere in half covering the whole building with a man on the rooftop sitting on the edge with his feet fallen out of it. Dale called out as he came in front of the school’s gate, “Hey!”. The man ignored him. Dale came through the barrier and to his surprise, he was in.
He ran once again but once he was inside the school, the hell’s going on? The whole building has no damage at all. He ran up to the second floor gaped at the walls and its roof. Students gathered in one room, Dale peeped there but Myric was not found. Looking onto all the rooms in the second floor one by one, each only has few students weeping the floor, picking up trashes. “No!”, She’s not here.
Dale on the very last room, on the edge of the second floor, jumped out of the window and flew right out of the school, even passing through the barrier. This caught the man on the rooftop’s eyes. Dale ran straight ahead on the road going back from where he came from.
Right on the side of the road, there’s an arm trapped under rocks on one building but still on Dale’s mind as he goes, I’m not about to lose mine. Someone screaming, a man with another man crying for help. One guy trapped under debris as the other tries to lift it up with a metal rod. It’s not enough but should I care? Does that matter to me?, Dale looked straight ahead the road.
As he passes by the man he stopped, “Damn it, what am I thinking?”. He came towards them, “Can you do it once again?”, the guy nods, “yeah go ahead quickly!”. The man lifted up the rock above the trapped person, immediately Dale pulled him out as the man couldn’t move. The saved man coughs blood, “finally! Thank you”, the man who lifted the rock said, but Dale immediately ran straight on the road.
A few running about shouting names, roaming all around, once again, hints of screams of pain and cries of help drew near. He turned left towards the store which he knew as a quicker way to the mall. The store does have a door but he skipped it right away and jumped through the already shattered window risking getting more wounds but this he avoided as he had planned.
He ran through the cashier, jumped over and continued, noise of people’s screams came closer as he ran towards the backdoor. He grabs the handle, pushing it and out of his luck, it opened. He came out and all the noise became clear, the mall was right in front of him but it was broken down, half flattened to large pieces while people ran all around.
“what’s going on? People shouldn’t be panicking this much, oh no not really”
He continued to ran straight to the mall pushing away some others to make way, ah I see… monsters, a humanoid monster as tall as 10 cars stacked on each other with long arms just as tall as its body, where it is as if it were made of only skin and bones came out of a roof of the right building beside the mall. He glanced but looked straight ahead on his path, a small entrance to the mall covered in rubbles.
Quakes as the monster steps with its large hands and feet and makes its way down to the ground. Dale completely unfazed, ran straight to the entrance while still hearing all of it. A woman cried for help, the monster grabbed her with its hand, she screamed more, waving around as it bits her head, the monster’s head is big enough to do such.
The monster walking about destroying, Dale ran and ran but as he glanced at it yet again, it stared at him. It started walking slowly towards him with less noise of its large hand, no longer smashing the ground. Dale Breathes heavily and ran with some wind coming from his shirt, but the ground shook once again as the monster rushes.
Dale lost it, I’m not gonna make it. A car flew at the small entrance blocking it, the monster itself threw it in.
Dale closed his fists tightened, “tsk!”, looks back frowning, “you bastard! Okay then! Bring it on!”, The monster grins at him with its mossed teeth showing, its hands and feet squeezing the ground while Dale glared at it, facing it, slowly leaning reaching his hand to a metal rod. The monster started running, slamming cars towards him, as if it were an ape leaping as it goes. Dale ran straight to the monster slightly to his left, his right arm behind his back holding his intended weapon.
The monster slams the ground with its left hand directed at Dale, he quickly dashed to the other side avoiding to get hit as he had planned, but it then swung with its big right hand towards him, Dale flew to the opposite and avoided the monster as it slammed its hand to a sharp metal of the guard house cutting its own big hand, as he flew, he struck the monster’s right eye with the metal rod midair. The monster roared and grabbed its own head.
Dale jumped out of its head and landed on the ground still holding the metal rod. The monster grabbed the whole guard house and slammed it at Dale in which he avoids it, and another smash from the monster’s hand came then Dale flew upwards dodging it, stops midair and dashed right towards its face, a small blast in the air came from behind him, striking the monster’s left eye with the metal rod.
He stood up on top of its head pulling the metal rod out of its left eye but was unable to. The monster grabbed him and threw him out slamming him onto the ground, bounced as he hit cars, landing on the car that’s blocking the mall’s entrance. Dale’s whole body gone numb, no longer feeling anything. His vision completely blurred out as the monster rampaged and removed the metal rod from its eyes and shouts, “Damn you!”, a voice so deep and loud.
“What?”, His eyebrows lowered and smirks out of what he heard, even seeing almost nothing. The monster’s rampage stopped as its eyes reformed staring at him, it towards Dale, he grabbed all around, figuring out where he is, he pulled himself out, hid inside the car as it slammed the car with its closed fist flipping it where its top side was inside through the mall’s entrance.
The car is completely merged to the large rocks, sharp pieces of the windows falling and after some time, Dale fell from the car’s broken window, and is already inside the mall. Dale breaths heavily, only then he looked onto his wounds which have gotten much, much worse.
