Ava was creeping out of the Cavern. Everyone had gone to rest, and everywhere was quiet. A light suddenly flashed across Ava's face, and she hurriedly covered her face with her palms. Amelia approached her, holding the lantern in her hand.
Ava cried, "Amelia!"
"Can you tell me where you're going?" Amelia remarked this while crossing her arms across her chest.
"You truly frightened me," Ava complained.
"You haven't responded to my question." Amelia furrowed her brow.
"uhm......uhm....." Ava is at a loss for words.
Amelia sighed and lowered her shoulder. "I'm afraid of the day when I won't be able to see you again," Amelia muttered.
"I apologize, Amelia. It's only for some minute," Ava begged.
"I don't think this is the time for this; you know what's going on in the kingdom right now. What do you think will happen if Queen Davina discovers this? You already know she's not doing well right now."
Ava had a sad expression on her face. "I have to leave right now Amelia." She almost mumbled to herself. "I know it's wrong, but I believe this is my only opportunity right now. Everyone has gone to rest, and all is silent. If I give up now, I'm not sure when I'll get another chance. I won't take long, Amelia; trust me."
"What if you couldn't find the way there?" Amelia was concerned about Ava.
Ava smiled reassuringly at Amelia. "I'll be alright." She caressed her shoulder.
"OK," Amelia finally murmured, nodding. "Be careful, Ava."
Ava bowed her head and smiled. "Thank you so much, Amelia. I promise to be careful."
Amelia led Ava out of the tunnel, and Ava continued to walk deep into the forest until she could see nothing but an unending ocean. A gate was a barrier between Ava and the ocean. Its purpose was to keep people from leaving the kingdom. It was the only way to get out of there. No one knew what magic was used to close the gate. But Ava had learned it from Queen Davina, which the Queen was unaware of.
Ava muttered the magic, and as she saw the gate open, a smile crept across her face. Ava walked out the gate and she looked back as the gate closed behind her,
It was only for some moments. She promised to return. Ava thought to herself.
Ava walked up to the water and dove in. Her fin expanded out as she went deeper into the sea, as did her black hair. She lifted her head out of the water and rubbed her palms over her face to see clearly after a brief period of swimming.
Ava tried to grasp where she was as she scanned her surroundings. She was in the middle of a forest with several hills. Ava turned to look behind her when she heard the rushing sound of water, she saw a large amount of water cascading down from a hill into the river where she was. The water was clear and colorless. The mountains had pristine green foliage on their bodies. The sight was so beautiful that she didn't want to tear her gaze away. Ava walked gently out of the water, half naked, since they didn't wear clothes in their realm.
Ava looked up, seeing the birds flying excitedly in groups, the turquoise sky adorned with stars and a half moon. And she was happy, her eyes flashing with delight, because she found these things so stunning. She recalled her first visit to the human world. She was quite young and didn't notice all of these lovely things because of her mother's death.
Ava joyfully climbed the hill. She grinned and began heading into the woods. She had no idea where she was or where she was going, but she didn't care. After going for some minutes, Ava finally heard some conversations; she carefully followed the sound and spotted two men standing and one on his knees. Ava stood still, scanning the men from head to toe. They appeared to be distinct. They wore clothes; their hairstyles and demeanor were mysterious to her. She stood silently where she was and observed them.
"Please forgive me, I don't mean to upset you," the man on his knees pleaded as he sobbed.
Smart, one of the men, scoffed. "Say your final goodbyes."
"Excuse me, but..."
Smart pushed the man down the hill before he could finish his sentence.
Ava was startled and gasped in terror. Everything she'd studied about people began to pour back into her mind. Ava took a step back and spun around to escape. Unfortunately, those males heard her gasp and turned to face her.
