Lola.
As the morning sun began her ascent. The sky slowly returned to her ocean blue color, like children being tucked in under a blanket of blue, the millions of stars that made up the sky starting to fade away. The moon being the last to fade away as her time in the sky had come to end and now it was time to share the skies with a ball of fire. Someone else was starting to rise, her eyes fluttering open like the wings of a butterfly, a pair of light silver eyes exposed to the warmth of the sun. She let out a slight groan as she rolled over onto her side, pulling up the covers a bit to hopefully fall back asleep. However, she knew that was not possible, because the second that door opened, she would come in. A woman with red hair and evil looking red eyes would come, and take her away from her dirty mattress. “It is time to work, my prize.” She would say in a voice that it was more of a demand than anything. If she pretended to be asleep, she would bring in someone else to wake her up a bit more firmly. Sometimes it was dragging her out of the bed to drop her on the ice cold floor. Most of the time it was a mean man with an even meaner jellyfish spirit that would shock her, until she awakened. Or if this woman was in a very good mood, she would do it herself, only with the harsh end of a belt. Those events usually would fade to black as someone else would break free, someone to protect her, when she was too weak to do so.
However today was different, as she sat up and obediently held her head down. The scary woman never let her look her in the eyes. She was not greeted by anyone, in fact she wasn’t even in the same small room that had been her home for so long. No this room was bigger, it had one of those computer things that some of the doctors at her old home had. There was a long series of cabinets, and overhead cabinets going along the wall. There were two chairs in this room, white with light brown arms and legs. Someone’s purse was resting on the counter that ran between the overhead cabinets, and connected to the cabinets underneath. A chair with six wheels resting off in another corner. A television was playing, the characters looked funny, a yellow sponge wearing brown shorts, a white shirt and a red tie, sat talking with a pink creature that she thought was a starfish. The floor was a sparkling white color, and it then dawned on her that she had to look down to look at the floor. She was on a raised bed, it had a few handles that were down, the pillows were comfy and the blanket wasn’t a sheet. It was actually a comfy blanket, she looked down at her wrist and noticed that an odd square bandage had been placed over there. As she lifted it up to cheek to see if she was injured, all she found was a small bit of blood on it, not even big enough to be considered a dot.
“W-Where am I?” Lola thought to herself, her ten-year-old mind trying to figure out where she was. She closed her eyes as tight as she could and as she went to open them, she couldn’t bring herself to do so. If this was a dream, then she didn’t want to wake up. She slowly opened her eyes again, and was relieved that this space, like many others, didn’t change. No more dark gray walls, no more cold floors, no more thin blankets or rough pillows. “I-I like this room.” She said to herself with a smile.
She turned back towards the chair as a shimmer of light caught her attention. That always started off as white began to take on a dark blue hue. A pair of legs formed that slowly moved up into the waist, the waist going up, and separated into two arms, two shoulders and finally one head. Her eyes being a dark blue hue and her hair a matching color, she didn’t remember when she met this girl, but what she did know was that she was the first. The name she had given her, and the name this girl had accepted, Mystic.
Mystic looked around the room as well, her face being the same stoic expression that Lola had grown used to. She had never seen the girl smile before, she didn’t think any of the others had seen her smile before. “I see the plan worked.” She said, finally speaking as she hopped out of the chair, and began to walk towards Lola. “Good morning.”
“G-Good morning,” Lola settled back into bed, snuggling deep underneath the blankets. “D-Do you know where we are?” She asked, Mystic was the smartest, so she had to know where they were.
“If I had to guess, a hospital room of some kind, so that means someone brought you to a hospital.” Mystic walked closer and her face twisted a bit in anger at the height of the bed Lola was on. Mystic as she held her hands up to Lola in an expectant way, “help me up.”
Lola held back a giggle as she gripped the smaller girl’s hands and lifted her up on the bed. “Why would someone bring me to a hospital?”
Mystic sat on her knees in front of Lola. She was the smallest of the seven, barely even reaching four feet tall, some might call her the runt of the litter, but she is the smartest of the litter, a few might dare call her leader. “An opportunity showed itself the other day, so Amber took it, and she got you out of that horrible place and took you as far as she could. A woman found you, and brought you here.”
“R-Really?” Lola looked up at Mystic with wide eyes as if she didn’t believe it. “Then what happens now… is Auntie Jessica gonna come, and get us?” She didn’t think the mean woman with red hair was her aunt, the idea of being related to a horrible woman like that was one of the worst thoughts that lived in her mind. “Does she know where I am?”
“She does…” Lola’s heart began to race, as she looked towards the door in fear. If not getting up when she was told too earned her so much pain, what pain would come from escaping her room and running away? “Calm down, Lola.”
“How can I calm down if she is gonna come in-”
Mystic rudely interrupted her. “Because she left last night.” Mystic explained.
Lola looked back at her… she wasn’t a friend with this girl, she sometimes thought of her as her little big sister. “What do you mean?”
“While you were sleeping, I took control of your body.” Lola made a face at that, it always bothered her how these other people could take control of her sleeping body. It made her feel like a puppet at times. “Stop making that face.” Mystic said firmly. “It is gonna get stuck that way, and then you are gonna be stupid looking forever.”
Lola's face did change, but it grew sadder. “I’m not stupid.”
She heard Mystic let out a small sigh as she crawled forward and wrapped her arms around Lola’s tiny frame. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that. Just listen to me so I can give you some news.” Lola nodded her head as she hugged her close, trying not to cry. Mystic didn’t seem to like it when she cried.
“Last night when I took your body, I got the doctor to go to sleep so I could go, and do what I needed to do. I left the room, and followed this woman, I think her name is Destiny. There I found Aunt Jessica, and this woman talking to each other. I couldn’t hear a lot of things but what I could tell was that, this woman that found you does not like Aunt Jessica. The conversation turned a bit, as Aunt Jessica wanted this woman to raise you a think, she started talking in that annoying fast tone she uses sometimes. I then heard a crash, and when I poked my head inside, I saw that this woman had Aunt Jessica by the throat, and pressed against the wall. She said something in a really low tone before releasing her, and then Aunt Jessica left, and is not coming back.”
As soon as Mystic finished talking, the door to the room opened up. “She is here.”
Lola felt Mystic fade out of her arms and she appeared on the counter a few feet away from her. Stepping into the room was a very tall woman with smooth brown skin, and clad in soft cream colored plants and a matching v-neck shirt. She had large hips and curves, she seemed older than most people she had seen in her small amount of time. The sides of her head were shaved, except for the curly bush of golden hair she had on her head. Around her neck was the same crystal that most of the people at her old home wore around her neck, but while there's were cracked. Her’s was steady and strong and matched the color of her hair. The entire room filled with two different smells, one was a sweet smelling one like the chocolate bar she had gotten so long ago for being a good girl. The other had a more hearty smell, one that made her empty stomach grumble, and mouth started to water a bit.
The woman looked at her and finally seemed to notice that she was awake. Her once stern features began to become joyful and her eyes smelled to sparkle with a warmth that Lola had never seen before in her life. “Did I wake you up?”
Lola felt her mouth begin to dry up, she couldn’t remember the last time someone had spoken to her with such kindness. All she could bring herself to do was softly shake her head, her short brown hair shaking with it. “That is good,” the woman said, setting a bag down to the side. “I wouldn’t have wanted to wake you up. I wanted you to get as much sleep as you could.” She pulled a chair closer, and sat it beside Lola’s elevated bed, she then got the bag she had set aside and reached inside. She pulled out two white boxes and placed one of Lola’s blanket covered lap. The warmth coming from her filled her slightly chilled body up with a new warmth. The woman reached around and opened up with this odd looking box and Lola’s mouth nearly hit the floor at what was in front of her. It wasn’t the usual rice, stall bread and if she was lucky maybe a slab of meat. She had fluffy scrambled eggs, a few pieces of toasted bread, juicy looking meat in circles, as well as a few pieces of red meat that smelled amazing.
Lola looked down at the meal in front of her not knowing what to do with this amazing spread. “Are you okay?” Lola looked up and suddenly this woman’s face was blurry and watery. Lola reached up with a hand and felt that her eyes were wet, rivers of tears had started to spill from them.
She finally found her voice as she replied. “Y-Yes… is this for me?” She asked, looking up at her with hopeful eyes.
“Of course it is.”
Without any more hesitation, Lola dug into her food like a starving animal. She didn’t bother to use the odd black tools that had been in a small plastic bag. Her hands were good enough, the red meat tasted amazing, the circle shaped ones tasted even better in her opinions. The eggs were just as fluffy as they looked and actually were seasoned with salt and pepper. The bread while toasted, it was still warm and tasty and the melted yellow slabs on top added more flavor to it. By the time she was finished, her belly was full, her face was a mess, the blanket she had was dirty, but she didn’t care. It was absolutely amazing.
“Thank you,” Lola said, with a slight sniffle. “W-Who are you?”
“My name is Destiny Myers,” the woman greeted warmly. She had taken a few napkins, and reached out to Lola but then her hand stopped, and she placed them on Lola’s lap. “Y-You might wanna wipe your face off, young lady. Your eyes as well.”
Lola nodded her head, taking the woman’s obvious suggestion as an order, like she did most things she was told. She began to wipe her face as quickly as she could, mostly just moving the mess on her face around rather than off. She had never really had to clean herself, there was a mean woman that would usually clean her up if she got too dirty. Usually with a hard cloth and cold water. As she was doing this, a familiar sensation began to take over her entire body. “No-” was all she could get out before her vision went black and she took a deep breath.

Lola’s body began to glow a blinding blue color and once that flash had diminished. Sitting in that bed was now a girl with dark blue hair and large blue eyes, her body had shrunk down so she almost looked like a toddler. The hospital gown that she was wearing looked like a large dress on her, the collar now too big and barely hanging onto her shoulder. The sleeves looked much smaller on her thin frame. Mystic took in the breath of air as she quickly got used to breathing in oxygen, it was a hard thing when she took over Lola’s body. The transformation being what usually took the most strength, she had no idea when she came into contact with Lola. But what she did know was that she was the first.
As the transformation came to a close, she lifted her head as high as she could and stared down the large woman in front of her. Lola was weak, she would trust anyone that showed her even a sliver of kindness, but Mystic was stronger mentally. So if this woman wanted to speak with her sister, she needed to go through her first.
“Who the hell are you, what is your relationship with our tormentor?!”
