Aron swayed side to side as he walked home from school, blasting music through his earbuds as he grooved to the beat that flooded his ears. To the unsuspecting eye, he looked like a normal kid enjoying a song, but the truth was much darker.
The song he was listening to was heavy metal consisting' of vocals mostly made up of edited screams. The only other instrument was a guitar, which he would mimic playing while walking down the sidewalk. It was simple, and that's what he liked about it. A song didn't need to be complex if it was good.
He approached a single-floored house with a cellar in the backyard. It looked like a dump, he knew that, but it was as good as he was going to get. Instead of entering through the front door, he went around the house to the backyard. Today was a special day, and someone was waiting for him in the cellar to share the joy that he was about to experience.
He walked down the worn stone stairs further into the bowels of the basement. At the end was a room, where he was delighted to see his new friend waiting for him with a gift. She stood in the doorway with her arms crossed, uncertainty struck on her face.
"Ah, I knew you'd come! So you are interested, huh? You brought someone and everything!"
She looked at him and then at the "Gift" in the middle of the room.
"Yeah... They should do, right?"
He nodded, overjoyed to share his passion with someone new.
"I wanna see your animal side, so let it all out! Trust me, when we get started, it feels great. The more we hack and slash, we'll get better results!"
In the corner of the room, there is a table with an audio recorder, as well as an assortment of knives and cleavers. Aron walked over to the table. He turned on the recorder, then grabbed two weapons off the table. He brought over one cleaver for him and one knife for her.
He handed her the knife, to which she took it hesitantly.
"You know, if you didn't want to do this, why'd you kidnap this kid?"
She looked at her classmate tied up in the chair.
"It...It just feels wrong to kill somebody after they trusted you..."
He chuckled, but he understood how she felt.
"It's alright! Besides, we're going to die. It's just a matter of time. Death comes sooner for others. They also made the mistake of trusting you."
He walked up behind the kid tied to the chair. He pulled off the bag she used to keep them from seeing who had kidnapped them. Revealing their scared-to-death peer's face, who was sweating like crazy.
Their peer begged to be released, offering whatever he thought of to survive. Aron didn't care, but the girl he was with seemed to start regretting her decision.
"Well? Are you going to start?"
To his disappointment, she shook her head, so he took it upon himself to begin. With a hack to their arm and a slash to their abdomen, he smiled like a madman as he listened to the screams. Humming the notes he'd play on his guitar for the next song he'd make.
Seeing that she still didn't move, he walked over to her and grabbed her arm. Then dragged her over to her wailing peer.
"You're going to miss out on what will make you feel alive; it's like a drug. You'll be sky high."
She stared at her peer, watching him sob for them to stop. She knew it was too late to turn back now, so she swung her knife at his chest. Piercing the flesh and letting the blood spurt out, she first felt nothing but horror.
"That's it! Keep going, come on, don't take your potential love for this off the table now!"
She took another slice, then hit his face with a slash. The knife glided through his skin like butter; each clean cut grew more satisfying. She began to enjoy the suffering she was putting her peer through, just like Aron did.
Seeing that she was finally getting to work, Aron joined the fun. They both slashed away at her peer's soft skin, making sure to kill him as slowly as humanly possible. Each scream was another vocal sample for his music; the more desperate the scream, the better they were.
They went back and forth for about an hour until her peer was dead; her peer finally silenced, and so did the fun. Aron went over and stopped the recorder, absolutely covered in blood. He then replayed the recording from the beginning.
He smiled as he listened to the screams. He looked over and saw her smiling; both were intently listening to the product of their work.
"See? What did I tell you? The rush feels great, right?"
She nodded, but now she was anxious for more.
"When can we do this again?"
"Soon, my friend, but I have to get the song done."
"Well, I'll see you in school then."
"Indeed, don't forget to clean up before you go home!"
She felt great walking up the stone steps, and so did Aron when he cleaned the tools. He had a lot of fun with his "Gift" today, and he couldn't wait to do it again.
