When I open my eyes, I see we are no longer in the giant room. This room is normal sized and full of people that match the energy of large man. All the people stare at me and the man. One leans down and cycles all of them to in one motion. He must have been the king or something in the lines of authority. I stand there awkwardly and watch them as they straighten up and go back to talking. The man and I walk through the crowd and into a room toward the back. This room had a large throne at the end, complemented with a long table. The man walks to the throne, letting my hand go, I walk toward the throne and stop at a smaller chair. With a signal from the man, I sit down, seconds later, the people from the large hall fill into the small room and sit. The room goes quiet at the wave of the man's hand, and he clears his throat before speaking.
"Hello, dear people and human girl," the man announces, and I shy away as the human girl. Everyone's heads are turning to look at me, like vultures at helpless prey.
"I would like to make a toast to the human girl joining us," the man raises a glass and nods at me with a devilish smile, " She has come to us to fight, and end this war,"
The people raise their glasses, and I let the words set in. I was there to fight, but I'm just a 28yr who's owns a bookstore and lives with her best friend. This had to be a dream. There was no way this was real. I burst out of my chair and sprinted to the door; hearing people gasp behind me. I make it out to the main hall before the large man walks through the door. The man looks aggravated, and I jump behind a chair. The man walks over and grabs my wrist.
"Sorry if this is overwhelming, I don't think I even told you, my name." The man's grip on my wrist loosens then tightens again, "My name is Tobias, I am the ruler of these people, and we are at war. We need your help."
"I'm sorry, but this isn't right, I'm supposed to work at my bookstore and probably be home right now with Damian. I don't even know where I am or how I got here. I just want to go home!" My words are quick and panicky.
"But you came here, so you must fight and slay the monster and controller in order to leave." Tobias replies as if this is all common sense.
Anger rises in Tobias's tone, making me feel small and helpless. He takes my hand and walks me out the door. Still holding my hand, he walks me down a path that's old and overused. It's not a sweet hand holding but also not aggressive, more so authority type hand holding. We walk down the worn-down path till we reach a small house that's the color of a nude orange almost. Tobias opens the door and walks me in. He lets my hand go and walks to the kitchen. There is clanking of glass cup then liquid being poured, minutes after Tobias walks out with two glasses and sits at the table, summoning me. I sit in front of him and take the glass, letting the liquid hit my lips and fall back into the cup, Tobias watches and smirks.
"You will have to start training as soon in dawn," Tobias adds after setting his own drink down.
I don't argue hoping that if I go along with this, I'll wake up from the dream. With that mindset, I let all the possible play throughs run around in my brain. I pick the hero one, I slay the beast and go home, right? I look around the room and pick up my glass to actually take a drink this time. I notice the room's interior feel and find it to be a warrior but a cozy feel. Tobias stands up and walks to the kitchen, taking my glass from my hands.
"You will stay in the spare room, follow me this way." Tobias nods, and I follow through the kitchen and past the cupboard room.
It's a small room, but I don't mind and plop myself on the bed, Tobias standing in the doorway. He points to a pair of clothes on a sitting on a chair near the end of the bed. I lean up and nod, lying back down. I hear footsteps signaling that Tobias has left the room and I slip under the cover, drifting off to sleep. I'm thinking I'll wake up and be in my own bed, at my house.
