"I wonder if it's strange for a ghost to feel scared. I mean, my job is to scare people, not the other way around," I think to myself as I prepare for my first day at human school since I passed away three years ago. Today would have been my 22th birthday, but I'm still cursed to remain 19 and never grow up. I don't look like a typical ghost; I just appear as a regular boy, but my skin is paler than it used to be.

"JAX, ARE YOU READY TO GO?" my mom yells up the stairs. I run downstairs, grab my bag, and my mom smothers me with hugs and kisses. "Don't forget the rules," she looks at me with a worried face. "I know, Mom," I say, but she hands me a paper with all the rules written on it anyway.

I fold the paper up and put it in my pocket, kissing my mom on the forehead. "Bye Mom, please don't wait up for me. I'll be home before dark, I promise you," I walk to school. It's still a little dark outside, so I stay in the lighter parts of the road, making sure not to go behind trees and things. I'm still glowing, but only a little bit. Suddenly, I slam right into someone walking in front of me. "HEY," the mystery person yells. They turn around and I am met with the most beautiful eyes. "WAIT, YOU'RE GLOWING," he screams. "Shut it," I say, covering his mouth. "No one needs to know this happened, okay..."
