Chapter XXV: The Transferees
The following day, when Kota gets to the gate, he sees Asahi and Enmei sitting there.
"Yow, who you waiting for?", he asks them.
"Is it very obvious? It's you!", they say.
They then go inside the gate. Once getting inside the classroom, most of their classmates are already there including Akiko. Two new faces enter the classroom and they are boys. One of which has curly hair and the other is small. The homeroom teacher enters the classroom. She calls on the new faces to introduce themselves. The curly-haired guy gets up and tells them that his name is Tengen Anasui who lives 20 km from the school which is very far. The other also stands up and introduces himself to be Gin Gushiken who is also from the same neighborhood as Tengen.
The teacher proceeds to teach. After lecturing them about the lesson on functions, she asks them if they understand it. A loud 'yes' comes from Tengen and everyone looks at him very shocked. In another part, philosophy erupts and as the teacher asks them about a philosophical question, Gin answers it very clearly. Since Asahi already knows Tengen, they gather to eat at lunch with Kota and Enmei. Although Kota and Akiko are technically a 'couple', they don't show it to the public, school, friends, or even family. They keep it discreet and are only active if they're both alone. Akiko goes to Hanako and Himari, though Himari is in a different section but can still be with them at lunch. The two groups take their lunch in the cafeteria. Kota discusses about the complications of their subjects. Tengen makes a joke at this which makes the other laugh. He then high fives Kota and the others. While they talk, Hanako looks at Tengen from their table.
"Would you mind to pass me the sauce?", asks Himari to Hanako.
After trying to get her attention, she then snaps back to reality. She apologizes to them.
"Oh, is this what I think it is?", says Himari and Akiko adds, "I think it is".
Both smiles at her very creepily while Hanako shakes them off saying, "Oh please, I'm just observing. Don't be absurd".
Back at Kota's table, Kota and Enmei tries to ask them why they enrolled at the school despite it is far away. Tengen tells them that he knows someone at the school and passed the entrance exam. For Gin, it's just the same and it's just his preference. The bell then rings and they go back to class. As the teachers start to give them a lot of homework, Tengen tries to deal with them and since his ideas are good, the whole class agrees and most of the teachers postponed some of the submissions to a later date. After the afternoon session, they all go home. Akiko asks Kota via messenger if how were the transferees. He tells her that they're good. Akiko then tells him about Hanako and has actually a favor for him.
They soon approach Asahi since he's good at connecting people. Asahi reveals the plan to them. In a fast food restaurant, Asahi, Kota, and Enmei accompanies Tengen to the table while Akiko accompanies Hanako to the same table. The two haven't talk but as soon as they leave the two, they start to talk to each other by teasing each other. Enmei seeing this, flees to the exit due to the cringe.
