Phosphora wanted a tree. Viridi magicked up a tree and she wanted to string it with popcorn around it. "Enter the Dark Pit." Viridi thought humorlessly.
"I think we should keep food off the tree." Dark Pit growled.
"Why? It's pretty, plus, we can eat it after we unwrap our gifts!" Phosphora rambled excitedly.
Dark Pit scoffed and crossed his arms, "After it's stale, you mean."
"W-well, that's part of the fun!" Phosphora quipped.
"Eating stale popcorn is not my idea of fun." Dark Pit hissed, "Let's just use ornaments like sane people."
"You're one to talk about sanity, Pittoo!" Phosphora deliberately used the name he detested, smiling as she did.
"Why you-" Dark Pit took one step forward when Viridi screamed and tugged at her hair.
"That's it!" she roared, "Christmas is going to be canceled if you keep on!"
"But, Viridi!" Phosphora whined, holding her hands together, hoping Viridi would fall for the puppy eyes.
"Then stop it." Viridi hissed.
"But, please tell Pittoo we can string popcorn!" Phosphora begged.
"Why would you do such a thing?!" Dark Pit demanded.
"Because it-"
"Fine, we can have two trees!" Viridi screamed, "Just stop arguing about it, or I'll make Arlon watch you!"
"Not Arlon!" Phosphora whined, while Dark Pit took a dangerous tone with Viridi, for himself it was dangerous, anyways.
"Fine, I'll drop you both off at Palutena's place." Viridi threatened, then had second thoughts, "Actually, no, Phosphora would like that, painting nails and talking to Pit, teasing him and-and flirting, too, I bet."
"Someone's jealous." Dark Pit grinned, "I can't believe you two are competing for Pit, this will be interesting."
"No it won't!" Viridi shouted.
"Oh, I think-" Phosphora began.
"No it won't!" Viridi repeated, "Not it won't, no...no, it won't! Blah, blah, blah, I can't hear you!"
"Right, Dark Pit," Phosphora asked nicely, "please get the popcorn ready."
"I still think we should use ornaments." Dark Pit frowned.
"Two trees, or I split it--fine! You can have one half and she can have the other!" Viridi threw up her hands and walked away.
"You can get the half that people won't see." Dark Pit smirked.
"Why you little, egotistical...ripoff!" Phosphora yelled.
"I'm not the ripoff, Pit is! Light Pit."
"Ha, ha, how cute, but he's the original, not you!"
"Shut up, Phosphora!" Dark Pit demanded.
Viridi came back and found them decorating the tree together, somehow not killing each other over it, but Phosphora did glare at Dark Pit when one of his velvety red ornaments was hung in front of the string, and he glowered at her and bitterly moved the popcorn string whenever it obscured any of his decorations.
"I see you two are finally getting along." Viridi teased.
"No we're not!" they cried in perfect unison.
"I had a talk with them, Mistress Viridi." Arlon the Serene revealed, "'Share and share alike', I started to say, but no sooner than I said 'share and share' did they rush off together, young Master Dark Pit talking of aiding young Miss Phosphora in stringing the popcorn, and she asking if he'd like help in distributing the ornaments."
"Yeah, I'd be scared, too." Viridi mused, then stepped back, "I-I mean, your wisdom is...uh, something else, for sure."
"Ugh, Pittoo!" Phosphora growled, "How about we just cut the bottom of the tree and give it to you?!"
"It'd be a lot shorter, wouldn't it? I guess that'd be a good thing, since you wouldn't have to eat so much stale popcorn!"
"You two, in the kitchen!" Viridi ordered.
Viridi led them to the kitchen and thought twice about making them work together to clean dishes, knowing one would might drop a plate out of spite, instead she'd have them wash a dish, and take it away to dry.
That strategy worked until they ran out of dishes to wash, but by that time dinner was already done. After dinner she sent them to their quarters, which were fortunately not in the same direction, since the two would surely find another argument to have.
In the morning she found an unexpected site, Dark Pit and Phosphora were playing the video game she got them, and they weren't fighting over the first remote, instead they decided to take turns, she suspected Arlon had a hand in this, but he was probably asleep right now.773Please respect copyright.PENANAHhkn0PuWhY
"Well, I'm surprised you're both alive." Viridi remarked.773Please respect copyright.PENANAb0b9hWK8o5
"There's no use killing each other over a game." Dark Pit scoffed.773Please respect copyright.PENANAog9sUrbcJG
"Yeah, besides, we just take out our rage on the enemies!" Phosphora chirped.773Please respect copyright.PENANATjC8KhKSKk
"Well, no more presents until you eat breakfast." Virid shook her head and walked away, "Kids!" she thought, as she left them with ten seconds before she called them in again.773Please respect copyright.PENANACOmPfXgF8i
She had to admit, though, she was glad they were getting along, even if they needed a video game to help them. Maybe that's what they needed, a break from fighting constantly, maybe Viridi would try gaming, it couldn't be dangerous--she thought.773Please respect copyright.PENANA1bfrEknU5S
"Viridi, Arlon," Dark Pit and Phosphora cried, "when can we have a turn?"773Please respect copyright.PENANA4jzT9NqC6F
"In a minute!" Arlon shouted, decidedly not serene.773Please respect copyright.PENANAUHPsQmibGZ
"Hey, this thing can have four players," Viridi pointed out, "that way I can take you all on!" 773Please respect copyright.PENANAzDFlMjOEpM
And so they played video games deep into the night, and head headaches from too much screen time in the morning, but they spent more time together, and grew closer as friends, and a weird sort of adoptive family.773Please respect copyright.PENANA1vbwXuwcNV
