My heart reminisces under the moonlight. I think of the songs you used to sing to me when the tide was high. I want to leave, drown myself, in the light of your warm embraces and soft voice. 826Please respect copyright.PENANA2MgBs7hYoC
Oh, love, when you hold me in your arms, I'll forget everything. All the things I've ever suffered. Losing mamma. 826Please respect copyright.PENANAMJTWZSSYDm
The moonlight creeps in through the branches of the trees above me. Pale shards of light on my skin. 826Please respect copyright.PENANALIDoYJXLnn
I imagine you cradling me in your arms, promising to me the sweet nothings I always liked to hear from your lips. They helped me recover. Helped me when I lost my mother. Helped me when I forgot what her face even looked like. 826Please respect copyright.PENANAU5gMesHVsL
Right now, I want to sing. Maybe it will bring you back too? I hold your gift to me close to my heart. It'll never my leave sight, even though I know you'll never come back to me. 826Please respect copyright.PENANAObmpc4sAMJ
You're with her now.
Does she make you happy?
Do you look into her eyes the same way?
Your eyes were always so full of many, many sorrows. Worries of your father's ailing heart. Worries of your impending wedding.
To a girl who wasn't me.
I should have told you that night that's loved you, but I kept silence. I regret it today. I regret everything.
I saw you walking down the street with her today. Congratulations are in order as well. You must be proud that you will be a father soon. You always told me that you wanted a child, even before you married her. I always hoped that it would have been me instead of her. 826Please respect copyright.PENANA3zrIBn29XV
I blame my silence.
I look up into the night sky and clouds shade the moon. I think of our last moments together, our last words, ephemeral as the summer season. I think of you walking away, not turning back to look at me. I think of the gift you gave to me which I still keep, close to my heart, where you always will be. When I wear the locket I am healed of all of my pain. 826Please respect copyright.PENANA8yHnft0NyM
Even if we are never meant to be, we'll always have the moonlight and that one fateful summer. 826Please respect copyright.PENANAZc6Iltz06b

Hello! I know this was very short, but I didn't want to make it too long. The words are inspired by the lyrics of the French art song, Chanson triste. The version I am referring to is composed by Duparc, and I had the pleasure of singing it many moons ago when I was a music major. The lyrics mean a lot to me and I decided to write this bit as an experiment. I hope you enjoyed it! 826Please respect copyright.PENANAhjsiZ3UYrw
