"So this is the infamous town I have heard of? It doesn't seem much to me."
Billy glanced out the window of the bus at the gloomy yet quiet atmosphere of the town of Haddonfield. The sun was setting behind the skyline lined with trees, giving the sky a metallic gray tinge. He was expecting a town that harbored the boogeyman to have a daunting or sinister appearance , but the sight that greeted him was a melancholy yet beautiful picture. Ansel Adams could have easily taken a picture of it and documented it.
"Oh, appearances can be deceiving." Aiden Doyle laughed. "Besides, no one should learn the truth about such a sleepy town. It wouldn't bode well for future tourism."
Why would anyone want to choose this boring place for their tourist destination? He wondered, but decided to keep his mouth shut in order to avoid appearing rude and inconsiderate to his newfound companion. Billy decided to change the subject for the better.
"Where are you staying?"
Aiden glanced over at him before scratching his chin. "My place is down the street from the Myers/Strode home."
Billy's eyes grew in an intrigued manner. "Is it now? Perhaps I can disembark when you do so I can check out the so-called house sacred to the boogeyman."
"Now, I wouldn't advise that." Aiden frowned. " Besides, your father's place is a mile outside of town. You would have to take a long walk in order to reach it. You should reconsider what you would want to do"-
"Look, I get your concern, but I am not stopping by his place," Billy responded. "I need to do some sleuthing before I have to attend to other matters. I appreciate your concern, but I know what I am doing."
"Alright." The older man sighed, running a hand through his messy hair. "Just be careful. We don't need this town's reputation tarnished anymore than it already has. It won't help that you are a foreign exchange student."
Billy grinned. "Relax, I am not like my father."
"That's what worries me."
---
"You have a phone?"
Billy just smiled sheepishly. "I am planning on purchasing a new one throughout the duration of my stay. The phones from my country don't work well here."
"Is that so?" Aiden Doyle muttered. "Well, you best purchase a new one."
"Didn't I just say I was going to?" The Brit chuckled.
"Oh, you have a point. Take care and watch your back."
"Ooh, I am so darn scared." Billy laughed to himself as he walked down the road. The air had gotten a bit more chilly as he glanced at the houses on his way to his destination. He had noticed that they all had one trait in common. They were shut and boarded up, giving an ominous appearance. It wasn't even Halloween yet, but the atmosphere the street had given did little to disguise the spooky feeling. It wasn't long before he had appeared in front of the Myers house.
Well, what else did I expect?
Seeing this infamous structure, standing at two stories and consisting of a dry green and white color scheme, up close made it seem not so mysterious anymore. That isn't to say that it didn't his spine feel like water was slipping down it. The sight still felt like something out of a horror movie, but at the same time it didn't feel out of place in a suburban neighborhood.
Blimey! I must check it out.
Taking a deep breath, he strode onto the front porch. Hearing slight creaking noises, he froze for a second before continuing on his way. It felt to him like there was a foreign presence present alongside him, but each time he glanced to his sides or behind him, he noticed nothing out of the ordinary.
Why is my imagination is going wild right now? Perhaps I can write novels for a living rather than going to the University. However, I am not sure if they would be-what do these Yanks call it? New York Bestsellers, right?
Appearing in front of the door, Billy raised a brow. He eyed it as if a serpent would strike out at him from within the door frame. The dull blue door, now fading due to neglect, looked uninviting to anyone that would be foolish enough to enter the abandoned house, but Billy needed to utilize his time here wisely.
I came all this way. It would be unwise to pass up an opportunity like this.
Taking a deep breath, the Loomis boy clasped the door handle and slowly entered the establishment, taking one step at a time. His heart beating loudly in his chest, Billy's eyes scanned his vicinity, greeted by what may have been the interior of a typical suburban home, but was now looking like something from the Victorian era. Dust coated the wooden furniture as well as the walls and shelves.
Bloody hell! I see why no one chooses to buy the place after the previous owners. All this dust would would give me bronchitis at best!
Billy soon came up to the stairs leading to the upstairs room. One question was rolling around in his mind. Should he climb up those stairs that looked like they belong to a 1950s haunted house movie or just head home to settle down?
I wonder if I will be missing out on anything important if I bail out now. I guess I'll never know until I try.
Not sparing a second thought, the British boy hurried up the stairs to explore the house. To him, the second story of the house resembled a typical family house, but he knew there was more than met the eye. This home harbored a bloody past-literally.
"So this is Judith Myers' room?" He mumbled as he looked at the dust-covered room. The waning sunlight was filtered the the thick white curtains as Billy entered the room and rummaged around the boxes he found on the floor to see if he could find anything useful. Unfortunately, the previous owners had left them behind and they were only useless objects like lamps, silverware, or even doilies.
"Moving on," he mumbled to himself as he made his way down the hall. His footsteps echoed loudly in the abandoned house. The silence was so deafening that it nearly hurt his ears. It wasn't long until he hobbled over to the next room.
Well, waddya know? I am in the boogeyman's room itself. However, it is too damn bare for my taste.
In fact, the only objects in the room were drawers and a bed with the covers pulled up. The color scheme reminded him of those black and white TV shows.
"Ah, what did I expect?" he mumbled. "It looked better on that Youtube show when those drunk lads and lasses were partying here." He remembered the Youtube channel Dangertainment host a party in this house, but supposedly Michael had returned and slaughtered the guests save for two people. He wasn't sure if it was a publicity stunt, but deep in his heart he suspected that Michael was still out there and he needed to be taken out unless more people were to feel the sharp cold end of his butcher knife.
Time to skedaddle.
As he was heading out, he heard the stairs creak and froze, his heart pounding like a drum. Soon, he heard the sound of two more stairs creak. Someone was coming up the stairs.
"Hello?"
Billy tensely waited to see if the person would answer him. Receiving no reply, Billy stood there tense, but that was when he realized that the footsteps had ceased. Letting out the breath that he didn't realize he was holding, Billy seemed relieved yet flabbergasted.
What was I expecting? That Michael Myers himself would come to greet me? I think the jet lag is screwing my senses over. Well, it's time to bounce.
Billy made haste as he clambered down the stairs and made his way out of the house. What he failed to realize was a pair of eyes watching his every move from one of the upstairs windows.
---
"Yes, he has entered the residence."
Two men, clad in black, sat in a brown 1980s Cadillac parked outside the Loomis house. Their objective was to sit and observe Billy Loomis for an unspecified amount of time until they were relieved of their duties. Despite the windows being up, the autumn chill could be felt inside the vehicle.
"Very well." The voice at the other end of the walkie-talkie crackled. "I want you to keep a close eye on the brat and document everything he does like brush his teeth, watch television, etc. I don't want you to let him out of your sight for one second. Understood?"
"Affirmative," The man in the passenger seat replied.

Who are these people after Billy? Also, sorry for the lag in updates. I have a very busy life outside of Wattpad, but I'll try to update more often. Have a great night!
