Five years. That's how long I have lived across from them. Five years. I was there when they made the band, I was there when they got their first gig, I was there for it all. But it's not like they cared at all. I was just their unruly, know-it-all, obnoxious, neighbor. In those same five years, I came to fall in love with them. It was hard to choose between twins. It was even worse when they were different and you liked both aspects of them. And now, I was watching them pack up and leave. I had just found out yesterday that they were going on a mini tour and won't be back for three months. That's what killed me the most. But that's the price I had to pay. We were all in our second year of high school. I crossed the street and handed Bill and Tom a wrapped box each.
"Good luck on your tour, and be safe, okay?" I smiled lightly and hugged them both, taking in their cologned scent.
"Always, meine freun ." Bill said with a sigh.
"I won't see you on your birthday, so I got you guys these. Anyway, I will see you guys around?"
"Ja," Tom said, hugging me one more time. He was always the nicer of the two. I smiled and waved them off. This is the last time I will see them for months... the thought floated in my mind. I turned to Georg and Gustav.
"You better take care of them, okay?" I gave them The Stare and they nodded with a mix of fear and amusement. "Guten. Take care," I waved them off as well and walked back to my house, tears welling up. I should have taken that moment I had to tell them. Or at least one of them. It was past, and I had lost my chance. I fell on my bed that night and tried to fall asleep. But my heart kept me awake. The heart get's no sleep.
