I woke up again later that morning, but it was still dark out… too early to get up.
But—still—I couldn’t sleep.
I wanted to bother Alpha Damon again.
I got out of bed for the hundredth time that night, pulling the covers off myself.
I then made my way over to the bedroom door.
I slowly parted it, glancing up and down the dark hall.
I then slowly closed the door behind me, staring into the darkness as I took a deep breath.
What was I doing? I should’ve gone back…
But… nah.
I stepped down the dark hallway, breathing slowly when I stepped to the next door.
It was parted, but the light was off inside it, telling me he was asleep.
I stepped to it anyway, not really wanted to be alone anymore.
What was I doing? God… this was dumb.
But then I told my intuition to shut up, and it silenced.
I pushed open the door, hearing it creak softly, and I stood at the entrance for a moment.
The covers of the bed drifted up and down slowly with Damon’s soft breaths.
I sucked in a little of my lips, feeling a little bad for thinking about bothering him now.
But when I glanced down to see a rug on the floor, I just silently stepped in the room.
I didn’t bother closing the door; I just padded over to the rug and sat down onto it.
When I gazed back up to see the covers still drifting up and down silently, I smiled and laid down onto the rug, shutting my eyes.
I snuggled with the soft fur and relaxed into it, feeling more at ease… for some reason.
The bed creaked as he shifted his movement, but I didn’t look because I was too tired.
It was weird… I was wide awake, and then sought comfort in my killer… and it actually worked. Huh.
I heard the bed creak again, the covers shifting, and I parted my eyes.
Damon just stepped over to me.
Oh… he saw me.
Did I wake him?
He knelt down, lightly catching under my arm and pulling me up. “Come on, Sweetheart.”
I let him lift me and carry me over to the bed.
I set my head on his shoulder, and he didn’t seem to mind.
He just laid me onto the mattress, and I snuggled with the pillow as he got in beside me. “Promise you’ll sleep now?” he said.
I nodded.
“Good.” He sighed, pulling the covers over both of us. “Good night, Angel.”
I closed my eyes then, feeling exhaustion overwhelm me as my breaths softened.
I distantly felt him pull my hair away from my face and tuck it behind my ear before he relaxed back into the bed, clearly falling asleep now.
