Seth's POV
He sharpened his dagger while sitting on the moon-lit window, he looked at the moon.
'I wonder if she's also looking at the sky right now.' He wondered, 'Just one more night then we'll leave this place together.'
Lost in thought, he accidentally grazed his finger on the sharp blade of the dagger. He looked at the single line of blood that ran out. He put his finger in his mouth to stop the bleeding.
'That's never happened before.'
He ignored it and finished what he was doing, now paying more attention to the dagger. Once he was done, there was a knock at his door which he found odd. Everyone clearly knew he hated having his sleep interupted, well he wasn't sleeping but they didn't know that.
"My lord," The male voice spoke slightly scared, "You hate night visitors but your father has requested your presence, he said it is urgent."
Seth frowned, feeling uneasy.
'Something's wrong.'
Estella's POV
She blew out the last candle the moment she decided she read enough. With no light, she looked out the window and stared at the sky.
'I wonder if Seth's also looking at the sky right now,' She thought, 'Just one more night before it's just us.'
She smiled at the thought and tucked herself into bed. Even with a peaceful heart and cleared mind, she couldn't sleep something wasn't right. There's whispering.
'Where is it coming from?' She rose up from laying on her back, 'Everyone is usually asleep at this hour. What's happening?'
Suddenly, there was a knock at her door. She frowned, 'I don't have a good feeling about this.'
'Something's wrong.'
Before she could get out of bed and answer the door, someone forced their way inside. Estella tensed up, only to reveal the clan's chief, her father. She bowed.
"Good night, Chief, what can this curse girl do for you?" She asked in monotone rehearsed tone. When it came to the people of the clan, she was never allowed to express herself, nor look them in their eyes without their permission.
"Raise your head."
She did as she was told. His expression surprised her, never has she seen him so irritated. He pulled out a chair from the table in the kitchen and sat with his legs crossed.
"Tell me girl, where have you been sneaking off to these pass few night?"
'How did he find out? How long has he known?'
Her heart felt as if it was going to leep right out of her chest, "No where, sir." She lied.
He let out an annoyed tsk, "Don't lie to me, I know you've been leaving to go into the forest almost every night. What I truly want to know is who have you been going to meet?"
"No one."
He stood up and walked up to her.
'He looks soscary, what do I do? I can't tell him about Seth, god knows what he would do to him.'
"Why do you insist on lying? I know everything, I know about that boy from the Rothman's clan, what was his name again Sean, Sam. No," He thought for a moment while Estella stood there anxious and extremely frightened.
'How did he find out? Is seth ok?'
"Seth," She flinched at the word he said his name. Her actions didn't go unnoticed, he smiled a sadistic smile, "So that's his name. The cursed boy from Rothman name is Seth. What an awful."
'I think it's a nice name,' She thought, too scared to voice her opinion.
"Anyways, you two were planning on running away togeher right?"
Her eyes widen, "How?" Was all sh could get out?
He laughed, "Did you really think you could sneak out every nght and I wouldn't notice. You are more foolish than I thought. Tell me, are you prepared to ruin that boy's life too?"
She didn't understand what he meant, "Looks like you've been caught up in your little happy bubble that you forgot who you are. Well let me remind you, you are nothing more than a useless curse, who can only bring misfortunes onto others. The more time you spend with that boy the worse it would be for him; it'll start off small and simple like a small cut or tripping on their own feet then they end up go crazy and killig themselves. Just like your mother."
It hurt, the way everything felt true. In its own way they were true. But that didn't stop the great pain she felt, loneliness, regret and guilt. Eyes welded her eyes, threathening to fall.
"It's all your fault," The words moved like daggers into her heart, "Isn't one life good enough for you? Why do you dare try to claim another? If you care about the boy, stay right here, at least here we could reduce the plague that is you. Let the boy continue to live and do his family duties, why would you want him dead? Being at his side will only bring his death quicker, don't you see that?"
'I don't, I would never want that for him. I l-' Her thoughts were interupted.
"Get the fuck away from her!" A familiar voice angrily shouted.
Estella looked at the door, extremely surprised to see Seth there and looking so sweaty and roughed up. He was panting for breath while maintaining an extremely pissed look. The chief looked at him amused.
"You must be Seth, I'm surprised to see you on this side of town. Doesn't Rothman's dogs stay on the north side of town? What brings you to the south?" He spoke as if he were talking to an old friend.
Seth only glared at him and marched over to Estella, hiding her behind his bigger built.
"Well then, I'll leave you two youngsters to talk," The chief turned around and walked towards the door, bit paused and glanced at Estella's peeking figure, "Estella darling, don't forget what I told you."
Once Seth was sure he was gone, he turned to her.
"Grab your things, let's get out of her before we get interupted again. We won't be able to wessel our way out of it." He explained.
'I can't let him get hurt because of me. He means so much to be, I can't let him die becase of me.'
"Estella, why aren't you moving? Are you ok?" He asked worried.
She wouldn't meet his eyes, just cotinued staring at the floor.
"I changed my mind, I'm not going with you Seth," She finally spoke in a soft tone.
"Who are you going with then?"
"No one, I'm staying here."
His eyes widen, tthen an anger rose in him, 'What did that bastard say to her?'
"What did he say to you, Estella? Don't listen to him Estella, he's probably lying."
"No, he's right!" She shouted taking him by surprise, " Everything that her said is true. It's my fault, she's dead bcause of me. She's dead becase I loved her and she loved me." She cried.
'Who dead? I don't understand, but Stella looks so sad. I can't leave her here.'
"I curse everyone around especially those who dare care about me. I can't take it anymore, I can't let another person who I care so much about die because of me."
'She cares about me?'
"Stella," It's the first time he ever called her that in such a soft, loving tone. She froze.
He put his hand on her cheek and softly stroked it, she ignored the faint blood smell on his hand and tried to focus on the calming sensation he made her feel.
"Stella, I'd risk anything for you. And that's why no matter what I'm going to be at your side. I just want you to be happy but here, you would be happy here. I don't care if I get cursed by the Gods for being at your side. I want you and only you, I know it's scary but I'm sure we can get through this together. Ok?"
'You'd risk anything for me? Why? Is it truly ok fr someone as amazing as you to care about a cursed thing like me? Would you really be ok if we left together?'
He wiped away her tears with his thumb, she looked into his eyes. She felt so safe and wanted nothing more than to believe every word he said. She put one hand on top of his hand that was on her cheek, taking a deep breath then nodded.
"Ok."
