My childhood friend Kiyotaka is my role model. We have been friends for almost 15 years and I consider him my role model as he is always such an encouraging person.
We have been friends since kindergarten and he is a very cheerful boy. He enjoys sharing everything with me and our friends. Despite being an adult now, he is still the same old Kiyotaka I met 15 years ago.
Although we fight and argue a lot during our friendship, we still have each other's backs.
He is the one who encouraged me to start writing novels and stories online. Most importantly, he teaches me not to be bothered by people's thoughts.
I have dreamt of being a writer since I was young. I always want to write inspiring and interesting stories. Yet, my classmates always looked down on my dream. However, Kiyotaka never laughs at my dream, and he believes my dream is meaningful. During elementary school, he always encouraged me to join different writing competitions and sometimes I won.
When I was around 10, I moved to Hong Kong since my father moved abroad for work. I missed him a lot during my time in Hong Kong. Living in a new place isn't an easy task as I constantly feel outcasted by the locals. School life wasn't pleasant for me as I was constantly bullied by my classmates for my bad Cantonese.
Kiyotaka and I chatted a lot after school via phone. I often told him what happened at school and how rough my life was in Hong Kong. He understood my feelings and he taught me not to worry about what others think of me. I learned that there is no need to think about people who do so little for me. From that moment, I feel true inner peace within my heart.
Now whenever my stupid classmates talk behind my back, I will just shrug it off and smile at them. These people never deserve my attention at all.
I will return to Japan during Christmas and I am looking forward to seeing him again. Spending quality time with positive people is blissful and I am thankful to have him as my best friend.
