In last chapter:
"When we first spoke, I sensed something peculiar about you. 'Shenzi' acted strangely, and I couldn't put my paw on it. It was only later, in the hallowed halls of the library, that the pieces clicked into place. The tales of travelers from distant realms, changing fates with unsuspecting counterparts," Leona recounted, a twisted revelation that twisted the very fabric of reality.
The memory of that initial conversation, where [Your Name], disguised as Shenzi, had exhibited behaviors that deviated from the expected, now flickered in Leona's mind. In that moment, he had dismissed it as an oddity, a quirk of Shenzi's character. However, the library had served as a catalyst, triggering a recollection of ancient stories that now intertwined with the unfolding drama.
"As I stood amidst the dusty tomes, the tales rushed back to me. I realized that 'Shenzi' was not Shenzi at all, but someone from another dimension, another world entirely," Leona continued, his voice carrying a mix of fascination and possessiveness. The revelation had fueled his obsession, transforming the alliance into something far more sinister.
"Now, my queen, you're not just a player in a political game. You're a key to unlocking a power beyond our wildest imaginations. Together, we will rewrite the destiny of this savannah and transcend the boundaries of our reality,"
The day of the wedding arrived, draped in a suffocating atmosphere of tension and unease. Despite the festive decorations—the garlands of vibrant flowers and the banners fluttering in the wind—there was a clear divide among the attendees. The hyenas, thrilled by their newfound power, celebrated openly. For the first time, they stood on equal footing with the lions, now weakened and leaderless. But the lions, filled with resentment and bitterness, kept their distance, glaring at the soon-to-be rulers—Leona and [Your Name]—with barely concealed hatred. They knew all too well that the death of their beloved king and prince was no accident. Their new rulers had blood on their hands.
[Your Name] felt the hostility from both sides but stayed focused on the task at hand. The ceremony was only a facade—a dangerous game she had to play while searching for a way out. The one thing she knew could save her was the mysterious book she had first discovered in her attic, the same book that had drawn her into this world.
But Leona was no fool. From the moment he pieced together that she was not really Shenzi but an outsider from another world, he had kept her under close watch. His obsession had grown into something far more sinister, driven not only by his thirst for power but by his desire to keep her by his side—forever.
Leona leaned in as they stood before the officiant, his voice a low murmur meant only for her ears. "You thought I wouldn't figure it out, didn't you? That you're not really one of us? I realized it that day in the library, when I stumbled across those ancient legends—tales of beings who could cross dimensions, changing fate itself. You're one of them, aren't you?"
[Your Name] felt a chill run down her spine. She had hoped to keep her secret buried, but it was clear now that Leona had been one step ahead all along.
He continued, his tone both possessive and threatening. "You're more than just my queen. You're the key to power beyond our wildest dreams. Together, we can rewrite the destiny of this savannah—break the boundaries of our world. But don't get any ideas about running away." His eyes gleamed with dark intent. "I won't let you leave me, not when we're so close to ruling it all."
Before she could respond, the officiant raised his hands to silence the crowd. The ceremony was about to begin. Leona straightened up, all charm and charisma, though [Your Name] could still feel the undercurrent of menace beneath his polished exterior. He had kept her close, ensuring she couldn't slip away. But in the midst of all the pomp and ritual, something caught her eye—a familiar object tucked away among the ceremonial items at the far end of the altar.
The book.
It was partially hidden, but she recognized it instantly. It had been placed there as part of the wedding, an artifact symbolizing ancient wisdom. The lions and hyenas alike were oblivious to its true power, but Leona clearly knew of its existence—he just didn't know what it looked like. If she could reach it, she might have a chance to escape.
Leona noticed her eyes darting toward the book and gave a sly smile. "Looking for something, my dear? I've heard rumors of a mystical artifact that can grant unimaginable power. I've been searching for it for some time now. But it seems it's been right under our noses this whole time. I just need to find it." His gaze darkened. "You wouldn't happen to know anything about that, would you?"
[Your Name] forced a calm smile. "I only know that today is about solidifying our union and leading our people together," she said, trying to divert his attention.
The officiant's voice droned on, reciting vows of unity and strength. But the tension in the air was palpable. The lions, seething with anger and grief, muttered among themselves, clearly disgusted by the idea of bowing to the very pair they blamed for their losses. The hyenas, however, reveled in their newfound dominance, emboldened by their alliance with Leona. They saw this wedding as the final step in cementing their control over the kingdom.
As the ceremony reached its climax, [Your Name] knew she was running out of time. She needed to act now!
Suddenly, in the middle of the officiant's speech, [Your Name] took a step back. "Wait!" she interrupted, her voice commanding. The crowd went silent, all eyes on her. "Before we proceed, I would like to offer a blessing, a tradition from my clan."
Leona's eyes narrowed suspiciously, but he nodded for her to continue. "Go on, then."
[Your Name] moved toward the end of the altar, her steps deliberate but careful. She knelt down, pretending to prepare a ritual, while edging closer to the book. Her heart pounded as she extended her hand, fingers trembling with anticipation.
Just as she was about to grab it, Leona's voice cut through the air, laced with danger. "What are you doing, [Your Name]? You wouldn't be trying to take something from me, would you?"
She turned back to him with a serene smile. "Of course not, my king. I'm merely preparing the final blessing."
But Leona wasn't convinced. He began to approach, his movements slow and measured. The hyenas cheered loudly, distracted by the festivity, while the lions remained tense, silently hoping something would go wrong. [Your Name] knew she had mere seconds before Leona reached her.
Without another word, she sprang to her feet, snatching the book with lightning speed. Panic erupted in the crowd as Leona's calm demeanor shattered. "Stop her!" he roared, lunging forward. But [Your Name] was already running, her heart pounding in her chest as she weaved through the stunned onlookers.
Leona was fast, faster than she had anticipated. She could hear his footsteps closing in, feel his presence just inches behind her. "You can't escape me, [Your Name]! You belong to this world now!"
But it was too late. The light engulfed her completely, and in an instant, everything vanished—Leona, the hyenas, the ceremony, all gone. The golden glow wrapped around her, drawing her back into the unknown. As the light dimmed and her surroundings solidified, [Your Name] felt herself falling, falling until-
Darkness.
